His furious voice was as cold as if laced with ice.

Tristan Sterling glanced back, his fierce gaze landing on Wendy’s face. His sinister voice sounded as if it came from Hell.

His gaze was so vicious, it was as if he were looking at a corpse.

Wendy froze in fear.

She stared blankly at Tristan Sterling’s arm, which was now bleeding.

She hadn’t actually meant to hurt him; she had just seen her best friend in danger and lost her senses for a moment.

Having intimidated Wendy into submission, Tristan Sterling, his face ashen with rage, silently grabbed Holly’s arm and forcibly dragged her away.

Holly could only shoot her best friend a quick glance, signaling for her not to worry.

When Wendy snapped out of it and tried to give chase, she was stopped by the hot pot restaurant’s owner, who demanded compensation.

"Open your eyes and take a good look!"

Tristan Sterling released her, tossing a tablet onto her lap.

Holly caught it instinctively.

She glanced down.

At the very top of the news page were two stories: one announcing that she and Tristan Sterling were already married, and another reporting that Holly Sinclair was a homewrecker.

Although Tristan had the news taken down quickly, it had already spread too fast. Many netizens who couldn’t find the trending topic went directly to Vivian Linton’s personal account to hurl abuse at her.

The insults were incredibly vulgar.

Some of the more extreme ones even dragged out eight generations of Vivian Linton’s ancestors for a public flogging.

Holly stared in shock at the news screenshots and the unspeakably foul curses, her mind a complete blank.

’How could this have happened?’

"I didn’t do it."

After a long moment, she finally came to her senses and shook her head.

"Not you?" A vicious glint flashed in Tristan Sterling’s eyes, his every word like ice. "Did you forget how you threatened me this morning?"

"I was just talking..."

Holly’s explanation felt feeble. Frustrated at being unable to defend herself, she could only repeat, "I didn’t. It really wasn’t me!"

"Who else could it be but you?" the man ground out coldly.

The color drained from Holly’s face.

Her heart felt as if it had been trampled by a stampede.

With that one sentence, he had essentially convicted her.

"I don’t know who it was, but it wasn’t me." She clenched her hands, her nails digging into her palms.

He once again gripped the back of her head, pulling her right in front of him.

They were eye to eye, nose to nose.

"You think I’ll believe you?" he hissed through his teeth, his eyes filled with a bone-chilling coldness.

It was piercingly cold.

"Believe it or not!" Holly yelled resentfully, struggling free.

Then she shouted toward the driver’s seat, "Greg, stop the car!"

Without an order from Tristan Sterling, Greg didn’t dare to stop, so he just pretended to be deaf.

Holly understood.

Turning her head, her eyes red with anger, she broke down and screamed at him hoarsely, "Tristan Sterling, what the hell do you want?!"

"To clarify."

Tristan Sterling’s two light words, however, were devastating to Holly.

She was so furious she laughed. "Clarify what?"

Tristan Sterling said, "That Vivian isn’t a homewrecker!"

Holly’s heart sank further and further.

"So you want me to deny to the whole world that we’re married, is that it?" Her lips curved into a smile that was both sarcastic and desolate.

She immediately reached for the car door handle.
