A young man around twenty years old got out of the car.

He was tall and trim, with a sunny, handsome air about him.

"Who... who are you?" Holly Sinclair grew even more wary.

Having just survived a terrifying ordeal, she now saw everyone as a potential threat.

Even if this young man was very good-looking.

"I’m Master Townsend’s apprentice. You can call me Gil. My master sent me to the airport to pick you up, but someone knocked me out while I was in the restroom. By the time I came to, your flight had already landed long ago. I tried calling you, but your phone kept going unanswered. You... what happened to you? Were you in some kind of danger?"

Gil rattled it all off in a rush.

Holly Sinclair more or less understood.

"Are you really Master Townsend’s apprentice?" She still didn’t dare to let her guard down.

"Of course." Gil nodded earnestly.

Holly Sinclair cautiously asked him a few questions about the content of their phone calls before she came.

Gil answered every one of them correctly.

Once she confirmed Gil wasn’t a threat, the tension instantly drained from Holly Sinclair, and she collapsed to the ground, utterly exhausted.

"Miss Sinclair, Miss Sinclair."

Gil scrambled over to help her up.

Cold, hungry, and utterly terrified, Holly Sinclair fell backward and plunged into darkness.

Holly Sinclair slept for a long time, not stirring until noon the next day.

"Sis, you’re finally awake."

The first thing she saw when she opened her eyes was Gil’s joyful face.

As her consciousness returned, the events of last night rushed back into her mind.

"Where’s the man who was with me?"

She shot up into a sitting position and asked urgently.

Tristan Sterling had been injured last night, she remembered. His arm had been bleeding a lot.

’It’s not that I feel sorry for him,’ she thought, ’but he saved me. I can’t just ignore it with a clear conscience.’

He had hurt her, but he had also saved her.

She had to keep the two things separate.

Most importantly, if something happened to him while saving her, she wouldn’t be able to face her grandfather.

"He lost a bit too much blood. He’s not awake yet," Gil replied, his gaze burning as he looked at her.

’This girl is so beautiful!’

It had been too dark last night for him to get a good look.

It wasn’t until he brought her home that he realized she was breathtakingly beautiful.

The innocent young man felt the first stirrings of love.

"Where is he?" Holly Sinclair asked, getting out of bed and heading for the door.

"Don’t worry, sis, I’ll take you to see him right now."

Gil smiled, leading her out while pretending to ask casually, "Sis, is he your boyfriend?"

The way he kept calling her "sis" made even Holly Sinclair glance at him a couple more times.

"No," she said, shaking her head.

"That’s good."

"What’s good?" Holly Sinclair asked, looking at him doubtfully, not having heard clearly.

Gil just smiled without a word, his eyes sparkling beautifully.

It was a two-story wooden house. Holly Sinclair was upstairs, and Tristan Sterling had been put in a room downstairs.

Holly Sinclair hurried down the stairs, not watching her step.

She missed a step—

"Ah!"

She cried out, about to tumble to the ground.

"Sis, be careful!"

Gil quickly reached out to grab her.

But faster still, a long arm shot through the air and caught her by the arm.

With a firm tug.

The next second, she found herself pressed against a warm chest.

"Are you all right?"

A deep, magnetic voice sounded slowly above her head.

Holly Sinclair froze for a moment but quickly came to her senses, pulling away from his embrace. She shook her head. "I’m fine."

Sensing her coldness and distance, Tristan Sterling’s eyes darkened slightly.

He had thought that risking his life to save her last night would have earned him at least a flicker of emotion, a bit of softness.

Who would have thought she’d still be this cold and indifferent?

"Sis, be careful! Don’t fall," Gil said, stepping forward, the concern in his eyes utterly charming.

"Who are you?"

Seeing Gil getting so close to Holly Sinclair, Tristan Sterling narrowed his eyes dangerously.

He stepped forward, blocking the space between them.

A man’s innate intuition told him this kid was coveting his woman!

Gil might be young, but he wasn’t stupid.

He immediately sensed Tristan Sterling’s jealousy and hostility.

"None of your business who I am," he shot back, annoyed. Then, in the next second, his expression changed as he looked at Holly Sinclair with a grin. "Sis—"

"Who are you calling ’sis’?! She’s not your sister!" Tristan Sterling snapped, displeased, immediately declaring his claim. "She is my wife!"

Gil was stunned. The light drained from his handsome face as he stammered, "Sis, didn’t you say he wasn’t—"

"A correction: ex-wife."

Holly Sinclair uttered the words calmly, completely composed.

Gil’s eyes instantly lit up again.

"An ex-wife is still a wife!"

Tristan Sterling’s tone was domineering and forceful, filled with undisguised possessiveness.

Holly Sinclair couldn’t be bothered to waste her breath on him.

She disdainfully pushed the man blocking her way aside and took the initiative to tug on Gil’s sleeve. "Gil, take me to see your master."

"Okay, sis." Gil beamed.

Before leaving, he didn’t forget to shoot Tristan Sterling a triumphant look.

Tristan Sterling watched them leave, his eyes cold and grim.

’Why does she attract people so easily?’

’Wasn’t one Brandon Sterling enough!’

’And now she’s attracted this wet-behind-the-ears brat?!’

Tristan Sterling realized he couldn’t bear the thought of her possibly belonging to someone else in the future...

It was already afternoon when Connor Grant and Greg found them.

Greg had only suffered minor cuts and bruises.

"Sis, will you come back again? Next time, I’ll definitely be there to pick you up. I won’t let you get into any danger again," Gil said, reluctant to see her go.

"Okay. If there’s a need, I’ll contact you." Holly Sinclair was thinking about business. Since they had signed a partnership agreement, it was only natural that they would be in touch.

"I’ll wait for you then. Goodbye, sis." Gil was ecstatic, his radiant, sunny smile infectious.

Watching him, Holly Sinclair’s mood inexplicably brightened.

Tristan Sterling’s face, however, was as black as coal.

Vivian Linton, wearing a flowing long dress, hurried over with a sweet smile the moment she saw Tristan Sterling.

As she got closer, she quickly spotted Holly Sinclair behind him, and her expression changed dramatically.

She cried out, "Holly Sinclair? How are you..."

"Were you about to say, Miss Linton, how could I possibly have come back? Is that it?"
