Dante stepped out of the freezing wind of the Steppes and into the sweltering heat of the volcanic cave.

The air inside was thick and smelled of raw sulfur and scorched earth.

Veins of glowing orange magma ran along the black walls. They provided a dim and flickering light that cast long distorted shadows across the cavern floor.

He walked carefully. The [Dawn-Breaker Blade] rested comfortably in his grip.

The Gold-tier weapon pulsed with a faint holy light that actively pushed back the oppressive atmosphere.

[Hazard Detected: Extreme Thermal Radiation.]

[Warning: Participants will suffer 100 Fire Damage per second. Standard health regeneration is disabled.]

Dante barely glanced at the warning prompt.

The [Lord’s Elemental Talisman] in his inventory immediately halved the environmental damage.

His massive health pool was padded by the elixirs of Vespera and barely registered the 50 points of chip damage.

He ventured deeper into the core.

The tunnel widened and opened up into a massive subterranean chamber. It mirrored the gladiator pit from the Spire, but it was entirely natural.

A massive lake of bubbling lava dominated the center of the room. It was surrounded by a narrow ring of black rock.

And resting in the absolute center of the magma lake and half-submerged in the liquid fire was the objective.

The system interface updated violently. The text burned a harsh aggressive red.

The Beast King didn’t look like a standard animal.

It was a massive and hulking bipedal monstrosity that looked like a cross between a silverback gorilla and a snapping turtle.

Its body was plated in thick overlapping scales of cooling black rock that glowed from within with intense heat.

Its massive arms ended in razor-sharp claws.

Dante stared at the health pool.

"Two hundred and fifty thousand," Dante muttered. "Not quite half a million, but still a massive bullet sponge."

He couldn’t use [Voidsever] here.

The passive reflection of the cursed weapon from the [Spiteful Carapace] interaction with Gluttony had nearly killed him. He didn’t know what kind of hidden passives this Dark Demon boss possessed.

A single reflected hit from his true-damage sword could instantly zero out his 9,130 health pool.

He had to fight it conventionally.

"Aura," Dante said softly.

A brilliant flash of silver light illuminated the dim cavern. The tiny Doom Harbinger materialized by his shoulder.

She didn’t look exhausted. Her twenty-four-hour dormant state had completely reset her cosmic energy reserves.

Her three starlight tails whipped eagerly in the hot air.

"We are doing this the hard way," Dante told the little fox. "Keep the heals ready, but I need your offensive utility."

Aura chimed. Her eyes glowed with piercing silver light.

The Ignis Behemoth heard the chime.

The massive beast slowly rose from the magma lake.

The liquid fire poured off its thick scales like water. It didn’t roar.

It simply locked its burning and featureless face onto Dante. It stomped heavily onto the black rock ring surrounding the lake.

[Boss Mechanic Triggered: Volcanic Eruption.]

The Behemoth slammed both of its massive and clawed fists into the floor.

The entire cavern violently shuddered.

Dante didn’t wait to see what happened. He triggered [Meteor Stride].

He vanished in a flash of white light. He teleported forty feet to the left and left a massive trail of superheated plasma behind him.

The exact spot where he had just been standing exploded. A massive geyser of liquid lava shot fifty feet into the air and completely incinerated the area.

But it wasn’t just one geyser.

The mechanic of the boss triggered a cascading chain reaction.

Dozens of massive lava geysers erupted sequentially all around the narrow ring. They turned the entire arena into a localized minefield of instant-death fire traps.

Dante materialized and immediately had to activate [Meteor Stride] again. He dodged a second geyser erupting directly beneath his new coordinates.

Flash. Flash. Flash.

Dante bounced rapidly across the arena. He chained his zero-cooldown and zero-mana teleportation skill just to stay ahead of the cascading explosions.

The [Chrono-Shift] talent was the only thing keeping him alive. A normal player would have run out of stamina and been vaporized in five seconds.

The Ignis Behemoth watched him teleport. Its glowing face was completely unreadable.

"He is trying to zone me out," Dante realized. He skidded to a halt near the cavern wall as the geyser sequence finally ended. "He wants me moving so I cannot attack."

Dante didn’t give the boss time to wind up another AoE.

He didn’t charge in blindly. He pointed his left hand directly at the massive beast.

"Aura, now!" Dante commanded.

The tiny silver fox zipped forward and positioned herself halfway between Dante and the boss.

She didn’t cast a heal. She didn’t cast her invulnerability dome.

She utilized the offensive utility she had unlocked after absorbing the residual energy of the Annihilation-Tier dragon.

[Skill Activated: Aetheric Stasis]

Aura let out a massive, resonant, and high-frequency chime.

A blinding pulse of concentrated Aether exploded outward from her tiny body in a fifty-foot radius. The silver light completely washed over the Ignis Behemoth.

The Aetheric Stasis didn’t deal damage, but it didn’t need to. The skill explicitly bypassed all standard boss immunities.

The massive Level 25 Dark Demon boss instantly locked up.

Its heavily armored arms froze mid-swing. The glowing lava dripping from its scales stopped falling and was suspended mid-air. The beast was completely and flawlessly paralyzed.

[Debuff Applied: Absolute Stun. Duration: 5 seconds.]

"Five seconds," Dante said. His eyes narrowed. "That is an eternity."

Dante triggered [Meteor Stride]. He teleported directly into the personal space of the boss and entirely bypassed the magma lake.

He materialized right in front of the paralyzed chest of the Behemoth.

He didn’t use a massive winding Zenith-tier skill. Those took too long to animate, and he needed sustained DPS.

He gripped the [Dawn-Breaker Blade] with both hands and unleashed a flurry of rapid basic strikes.

Clang. Clang. Clang. Clang.

The Gold-tier blade was amplified by his massive 3,270 Strength stat. It battered against the thick obsidian scales of the boss.

Because the [Dawn-Breaker Blade] possessed a passive that dealt +50% bonus damage to ’Corrupted’ or ’Void’ type enemies, and the Ignis Behemoth was a Dark Demon, every single strike hit with devastating force.

He carved deep glowing gashes into the armored chest of the boss.

Dante watched the stun timer ticking down in his peripheral vision.

The second the timer hit one, Dante didn’t try to squeeze in an extra hit.

He triggered [Blink Step] and teleported thirty feet backward. He was completely out of melee range.

The absolute stun expired.

The Ignis Behemoth violently snapped out of stasis.

The boss roared in genuine fury. Its health bar had dropped by nearly twenty thousand points in a matter of seconds.

[Boss Mechanic Triggered: Thermal Vents.]

The beast didn’t chase him.

It opened its massive and jawless mouth. It began rapidly venting highly pressurized superheated steam directly at Dante in a massive and continuous cone.

Dante didn’t try to dodge the steam. It was an arena-wide cone and was impossible to completely evade without jumping into the lava.

He raised his left arm.

Aura hovered right next to him and chimed softly.

[Skill Activated: Harbinger’s Grace]

The passive twenty-foot aura of pure starlight flared.

The superheated steam washed over Dante.

The system interface flashed red. It attempted to apply a massive and stacking ’Melt’ debuff that would shred his physical defense.

The starlight aura instantly cleansed it.

The debuff shattered into digital dust before it could even register a single stack. The steam was reduced to a harmless and localized fog.

"Your mechanics are useless," Dante yelled through the steam.

He didn’t wait for the boss to finish its casting animation.

He activated the Zenith-tier mobility skill.

[Skill Executed: Phantom Waltz]

The purple pulsating invulnerability frames enveloped his avatar. He vanished from his position at the edge of the arena.

Five deafening cracks echoed through the cavern.

Dante materialized directly inside the massive cone of superheated steam. He was completely immune to the environmental damage.

He delivered five rapid and teleporting strikes directly into the deep gashes he had already carved into the chest of the boss.

The [Aetheric Stasis] skill was currently on a five-minute cooldown, but Dante didn’t care. He had his own crowd control.

He activated the Master-tier teleport he had looted from Gluttony.

Because of his [Chrono-Shift] talent, the cooldown on the skill was halved. But more importantly, he didn’t need to wait for a cooldown to initiate the first cast.

He vanished. He instantly teleported from behind the boss to directly in front of it.

BOOM.

The sonic boom of his materialization hit the Ignis Behemoth point-blank.

The massive boss froze again.

"One second is plenty," Dante smirked.

He brought the [Dawn-Breaker Blade] down in a brutal two-handed chop directly onto the paralyzed head of the boss.

He followed up immediately with [Abyssal Cleave].

The black spatial fracture erupted from his gold sword.

It tore a massive and deep wound straight down the center of the torso of the boss to deal a massive 50,000 damage.

The one-second stun expired.

The Ignis Behemoth stumbled backward. It was completely overwhelmed by the sheer volume of instantaneous and staggered burst damage.

It wasn’t getting a chance to execute its complex attack patterns. Dante was actively interrupting its animations with hard crowd control and localized teleportation strikes.

The boss was already below half health, and the stamina bar of Dante hadn’t moved a single inch.

"Keep the heals ticking, Aura," Dante ordered and settled into a comfortable aggressive rhythm.

He didn’t rush it. He treated the Dark Demon boss like a heavy punching bag.

He used [Blink Step] to dodge the massive and telegraphed physical slams. He absorbed the environmental fire damage with his massive health pool.

He used [Phantom Dash] every time it was off cooldown to interrupt the casting animations of the boss with the sonic boom.

It was a perfectly executed and flawless cycle of combat.

The Ignis Behemoth roared in absolute frustration. It was completely unable to lock down the tiny teleporting human who was systematically dismantling its massive health pool.
