The Mists of Carnage pulsed with the overwhelming and aggressive cosmic weight of the memory of Lin.
The red fog thickened and swirled violently around the pulverized bone arena. It actively mirrored the unchecked fury of the ancient ghost.
Dante stood completely still. His dark purple armor gleamed faintly in the crimson light.
His own eyes burned with the red glow of the [Asura Vanguard] class he had just assimilated. It perfectly resonated with the aura of the remnant.
"You did not hold back," Dante stated and crossed his arms.
"I surrendered everything," Lin confirmed. His voice vibrated with a terrifying and dual-layered demonic echo.
"I stopped trying to control the bloodlust. I stopped caring about localized damage mitigation or survival parameters."
"I let the raw unadulterated power of the Asura completely overwrite my digital physiology."
Lin raised his hands. He stared at them as if he could still feel the weight of a massive weapon.
"The Orthodox High Council was standing on the balcony and celebrated the execution of my lover," Lin sneered. His ghostly face twisted into a mask of pure malice.
"They thought they had won. They thought the rebellion was crushed."
The ghost began to pace. His movements were jerky and erratic. The sheer volume of remembered violence bled into his code.
"I did not use magic," Lin explained rapidly. "I did not cast complex high-tier spells. I simply drew my blade and swung. I became an automated execution protocol."
Dante listened intently.
He had just experienced a fraction of that power when he activated [Blood Sacrifice] and used [Vortex of Blades] to instantly atomize three hundred heavily armored Hoplites.
He understood the math of the Asura class. It was designed to completely bypass standard combat logic.
"I slaughtered the executioners before the ashes of the pyre of Seraphiel even hit the marble floor," Lin whispered. A chilling and deeply satisfied smile spread across his scarred face.
"I moved faster than their server latency could process. I ignored their defensive auras. I ripped the head of the Arch-Paladin off with my bare hands and threw it into the crowd."
Lin laughed. It was a harsh and scraping sound that rattled the colossal bones surrounding the arena.
"The panic was glorious, Outworlder," Lin boasted and turned back to Dante.
"The righteous elites, the untouchable Guild Masters who had ruled the First Cycle with an iron fist, scrambled like terrified rats. They threw their entire localized armies at me. Tens of thousands of elite players."
"And you killed them all," Dante deduced smoothly.
"I did not just kill them," Lin corrected him sharply.
"I deleted them. I targeted their localized respawn points. I destroyed their guildhalls. I hunted them across every single continent on the global map. I became a harbinger of absolute unmitigated chaos."
Lin stopped pacing and looked directly into the eyes of Dante.
"In three days," Lin stated, and his voice dropped to a heavy serious register, "I slaughtered one-twentieth of the entire global population of the server."
Dante raised an eyebrow.
One-twentieth of the global population.
In Overture, millions of players were currently logged in.
If the First Cycle had similar numbers, Lin had personally executed hundreds of thousands of players in a span of seventy-two hours.
He wasn’t a player anymore. He had become a localized Calamity that was far more destructive than the Void-Dragon or the Super-Divine beasts.
"That is a lot of localized True Deaths," Dante noted and kept his tone carefully neutral.
"It was necessary," Lin argued and his red eyes blazed defensively. "The system was corrupt. The localized leadership was rotten to the absolute core. I was resetting the board."
"But they stopped you," Dante said. He gestured to the pulverized bone arena and the translucent ghostly form of Lin.
"You are not standing in the Capital right now. You are a localized remnant trapped in a forbidden zone."
The furious expression of Lin faltered slightly. The bright crimson aura dimmed and returned to the bruised exhausted purple light.
"I was careless," Lin admitted and his shoulders slumped.
"The sheer volume of the slaughter blinded my tactical logic. I allowed the bloodlust to completely consume my localized awareness."
Lin walked slowly toward the center of the arena and looked down at the ground.
"The Orthodox remnants realized they could not beat me in standard combat," Lin explained quietly.
"They could not out-damage my localized lifesteal, and they could not pierce my raw stats. So, they pooled the absolute totality of their remaining resources."
"They allied with the Celestial Guardians, the very entities that had ignored their atrocities for years, and forged a localized trap."
"A God-Slaying Formation," Dante guessed. He recognized the terminology from high-tier lore fragments.
"Yes," Lin nodded heavily.
"They lured me into a massive open valley under the pretense of a final localized duel. I charged in and was completely blinded by rage."
"I did not see the massive overlapping runic arrays buried beneath the dirt."
Lin let out a long heavy sigh that sounded like rushing wind.
"The formation did not kill me," Lin whispered and stared at his ghostly hands.
"It could not. My localized cosmic weight was too dense. But it completely stripped my avatar of its physical form."
"It severed my connection to the primary network of the server and forcefully shoved my soul matrix into this localized pocket dimension."
Lin gestured broadly to the Mists of Carnage.
"They buried me in the Path of Gods and Demons," Lin said bitterly.
"A designated forbidden zone where no standard Outworlder could ever reach me. I was sealed here and forced to watch the server reset cycle after cycle while completely unable to intervene."
Dante stood perfectly still and processed the massive lore dump.
The First Cycle hadn’t ended with a glorious victory against the Void.
It had ended in a localized civil war, a catastrophic purge, and the sealing of the strongest player on the server.
The Zenith Protocol had simply wiped the slate clean, drafted a new batch of recruits, and started the process all over again.
It maintained the exact same flawed and corrupt systemic hierarchy.
"So why did you try to hijack my avatar?" Dante asked bluntly.
"If you wanted to stop the system, why not just offer me the class instead of trying to violently overwrite my ego?"
Lin looked at Dante and a faint incredibly sad smile touched his lips.
"Because the power of the Asura is absolute," Lin said softly.
"It is the strongest localized force in the universe. It scales infinitely with rage and despair. But it requires an anchor."
"It requires a mind capable of holding the leash, or it will inevitably consume the host just as it consumed me."
Lin floated closer to Dante. His red eyes were completely devoid of malice.
"I tried to force the inheritance upon you because I did not believe a modern Outworlder possessed the localized willpower required to control the frenzy," Lin confessed.
"I thought you would break. I thought I needed to take the reins to ensure the power was utilized correctly. I was wrong."
Lin looked down at the dark jagged brand of [Voidsever] etched into the right wrist of Dante, then looked back up at his glowing red eyes.
"You did not break," Lin said with genuine awe in his voice.
"You took the entire localized tidal wave of my two-hundred-thousand-year malice, and you effortlessly subsumed it into your own combat logic."
"You did not become a monster, Dan. You became a weapon."
Dante didn’t smile. He just adjusted the heavy pitch-black fabric of his [Mantle of the Void-Dragon].
"I do not plan on letting the system control me," Dante stated firmly. "And I do not plan on letting Silas rebuild the Orthodox empire."
"Then you are the localized successor I have waited an eternity for," Lin declared and floated backward a few feet.
The remnant soul raised his hands. He didn’t aggressively gather localized ambient mana.
He reached into his own tattered translucent robes and pulled out a small incredibly heavy-looking object.
It was a jagged and roughly hewn token forged from a dark swirling metal.
It looked like solidified starlight mixed with raw localized blood. It didn’t glow. It actively devoured the red mist around it.
[Item Appraised: Primal Chaos Token]
[Tier: Sacred Seal]
The eyes of Dante widened slightly.
Sacred Seal was a tier classification he had never seen before. It wasn’t even on the global leaderboards or the deep-web forum posts.
It outranked Divine Emperor and Celestial artifacts.
"The Zenith Protocol is accelerating its timetable," Lin warned gravely and held the token out.
"The system is preparing for a localized reset of the universe. The Void is pushing against the outer boundaries, and the Celestial Court is too rigid to adapt."
Dante reached out and carefully took the heavy token from the ghost.
It felt incredibly cold. But it pulsed with a faint rhythmic heartbeat that resonated perfectly with his new [Asura Vanguard] class.
"This is not a localized weapon or a standard buff," Lin explained and pointed at the dark token.
"It is a seal of absolute primordial authority. It grants you the ability to command the ancient localized faction known as the Primal Chaos Divine Realm."
Dante raised an eyebrow. "I have never heard of them."
"They are the forgotten," Lin said softly.
"They are the entities who refused to side with the Celestials or the Demons during the First War."
"They exist entirely outside the localized jurisdiction of the system. They are incredibly powerful, and they are incredibly dangerous."
Lin looked directly into the glowing red eyes of Dante.
"You may use this token exactly once," Lin instructed. His voice dropped to a serious commanding register.
"It will compel the Primal Chaos faction to complete one task for you regardless of the localized consequences or systemic laws. They will not refuse. But you must use it wisely, Champion. Once the token is spent, it shatters permanently."
Dante slipped the [Primal Chaos Token] securely into his infinite void ring.
He placed it right next to the [Legion Summons] token Vespera had given him.
He was rapidly accumulating an arsenal of localized world-altering favors.
"I will save it for a rainy day," Dante promised.
Lin smiled.
The bruising exhausted purple light radiating from his form began to rapidly fade and turned into a faint translucent gray.
The ancient ghost had finally passed on his legacy and his burden. He was completely out of localized energy.
"Do not let the anger consume you, Dante," Lin whispered. His voice was barely audible over the localized hum of the red mist.
"The Asura is a tool. You are the master. Break the cycle. Save them."
"I will," Dante said.
Lin didn’t offer any more grand speeches.
The First Asura simply closed his eyes, bowed his head slightly, and completely dissolved into fine localized silver dust.
The dust drifted harmlessly to the bone-paved floor and mixed with the pulverized remains of the Undead Phalanx.
Dante was completely alone in the Mists of Carnage.
The localized SSS-Rank investigation was over. He had his Class Advancement, he had the lore, and he had a completely broken new toolkit.
He didn’t need to use his emergency extraction talisman.
He pulled the dark gray [Spatial Stone] from his inventory and crushed it in his gauntlet.
The swirling stable blue portal opened instantly and completely bypassed the localized suppression fields of the forbidden zone.
Dante stepped through the portal.
He left the graveyard of gods behind and was ready to see exactly how much damage an Asura Vanguard could cause in the open world.
