He paused for a breath, letting the silver radiance of his skin dim. He looked down at his arms; the glowing pink-and-black ink of the lightning was receding beneath his skin, leaving behind a faint, shimmering network of lines that looked like lightning frozen eternally under polished marble.

He pushed through the heavy silk curtains and stepped into the dim, warm interior.
