Wu Yun was holding Bai Yue up by her bottom, a bottle of mineral water clutched in each hand.

"Get down, people are watching!" Wu Yun said softly.

Bai Yue hugged Wu Yun’s head and shook her own. "I won’t!" 𝓯𝓻𝓮𝙚𝙬𝓮𝙗𝒏𝙤𝒗𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝒐𝓶

"Get down, you’re too heavy! I can’t hold you," Wu Yun joked.

"Hmph! I’m ignoring you now!" Most girls are sensitive about their weight. Hearing his comment, Bai Yue released her legs from around Wu Yun’s waist, landed on the ground, and pouted.

Wu Yun smiled and tapped Bai Yue on the nose, handing her the ice-cold water. "Here, drink some water. Let’s go get something to eat. I’ll treat you to something delicious!"

Bai Yue took the opened bottle of chilled mineral water, tilted her head back, and took a long drink. GULP, GULP. She let out a long sigh. "My dearest Ah Yun really knows me best. You knew I was thirsty! I was just thinking about getting a drink when you showed up."

The corners of Wu Yun’s mouth lifted into a grin. "I heard your summons, so I hopped on a plane just to get here."

Bai Yue waved to her classmates and linked her arm through Wu Yun’s. "Yeah, right. How many girls have you tricked with that line? Spill it. Your school is full of beautiful girls. Has anyone caught your eye?"

As they walked toward the Little Yellow Cars outside the cafeteria, Bai Yue continued, "I don’t believe for a second you didn’t drive a sports car to campus. And with those looks of yours, you’d be a total chick magnet without even trying."

"No way. I bailed on military training after just one day, how could I have attracted anyone?" Wu Yun said as he scanned a QR code and typed in a password. "Here, you can look at my phone. See how many girls are in my contacts? They’re all just classmates, sales reps, and company employees."

Just as Wu Yun handed over his phone, a notification popped up in his mind: ’Beep. System Blocker function activated.’

Bai Yue glanced at the phone in Wu Yun’s hand and tossed her head back. "Hmph! You pass. For now. Where are we going to eat?"

Wu Yun teased, "You’re the local expert here, so you lead the way. Let’s just grab a quick bite. That way, we can get back early for you to take a nap before your afternoon military training. I’ve got some things to deal with, too."

Wu Yun called out in the Sichuan dialect, "Boss! We’re ready to order!"

Before Wu Yun could finish, the owner cut him off. "Whoa there, son! That’s enough. You two won’t be able to finish all that if you order any more. This is plenty!"

"Okay, that’s everything!" Bai Yue handed the menu back to the owner. The dishes Wu Yun had ordered were ones she used to eat all the time with her classmates back in school; he knew her tastes very well.

’During her time in the Capital City, the only place she could get authentic Sichuan Cuisine was at home. The restaurants outside, even the ones claiming to serve Sichuan food, had all adapted their flavors to suit local tastes. Even the hotpot was different—sesame paste reigned supreme while the traditional oil-based dipping sauce was pushed to the side. To Bai Yue, it was pure torture.’

Bai Yue had actually been planning to go out for a good meal with her classmates in the next few days, but Wu Yun had shown up first.

"So, how have you been in the Capital City? Any guys at school chasing after you?" Wu Yun tweaked Bai Yue’s earlier question and tossed it right back at her.

Bai Yue hesitated for a moment but decided to tell him the truth. She didn’t want any misunderstandings. "Yes, there is one guy. I think he’s a junior at our school. He’s been driving his sports car to my dorm every other night to bring me flowers."

Wu Yun smiled. "Don’t tell me you’ve been accepting them?"

’Of course, he knew Bai Yue wouldn’t have a change of heart right now. Her Affinity score was stable at 90 points, having jumped from 85 to 90 because of his surprise visit today.’

Bai Yue looked agitated. "Of course not! I didn’t take them, and I’ve been ignoring him. But then he showed up at our military training grounds looking for me. He didn’t dare to interrupt the training, though. But..."

"But what?"

"But from the way he talks, it sounds like he knows my parents and can even affect their promotions." Bai Yue sighed. ’I can’t believe this is happening. Why can’t guys like him just play by the rules!’

As for my parents, they’re already doing better than a lot of people even without another promotion. Besides, their company isn’t his family’s personal playground. He’s probably just bluffing."

Wu Yun smiled and explained, "It’s fine. I just want to know a little about my rival. You don’t want me to be completely in the dark, do you? Besides, we live in a society governed by laws. What am I going to do?"

Bai Yue thought what he said made sense. "I only know his name is Zhang Peng. As for who in his family is at my dad’s company group, I have no idea. But he drives a Porsche 911. I guess he doesn’t dare to be too blatant and drive an even fancier car!"
