In 2014, universities weren’t too strict about gate access. As long as you weren’t blatantly charging in with a knife, security guards generally wouldn’t stop you. Besides, this was Under the Emperor’s Feet; who would be idiotic enough to do something suicidal here?

Wu Yun looked at the modern gate, which seemed both familiar and new. He sighed in admiration. As expected of a Double First-Class university, it was far beyond what Sichuan Normal University could compare to.

Just the century-plus heritage of Capital City Normal University alone left Sichuan Normal University in the dust.

It was around eleven in the morning, and a steady stream of students was still flowing in and out of the gate. Since it was a more comprehensive university, Wu Yun saw plenty of girls, but the ratio wasn’t as skewed as at his own school.

Wu Yun noticed an area behind the gate with yellow tents and promotional signs, along with rows of brand-new Little Yellow Cars.

He had been about to go check it out and scan a bike to find Bai Yue. After all, if he relied on just his feet, it would take forever to find her on such a large campus.

But just as he was about to move, he was stopped by Liang Xia. He heard her continue, "You must be here looking for someone, right? Our campus is huge, and it’s so hot out; it’s a real pain without a bicycle. Would you like to rent a Little Yellow Car? We have a promotion today—it’s only half a yuan for a half-hour ride."

Liang Xia could tell from his clothes and the car he’d gotten out of that he wasn’t short on money. The competition for these part-time gigs was fierce, so thinking it was worth a shot, she approached Wu Yun directly.

"I know about the Little Red Car," Wu Yun said deliberately. "I rode one in Rongcheng before coming to Capital City. But what the heck is this Little Yellow Car? A knockoff?"

Hearing Wu Yun’s words, Liang Xia thought, ’That he’s had this kind of experience makes things even easier.’

"So you know about the Little Red Car. Well, you can’t really call the Little Yellow Car a knockoff; it’s more like a competitor. It’s the same principle as with cell phones—there are all sorts of different brands. We’re running a promotion today, so the deposit for a Little Yellow Car is only 199 yuan, which is a hundred yuan cheaper than the Little Red Car."

Liang Xia’s tone shifted. "But I can see you’re not the type to be short on cash, so you probably don’t care about that 100 yuan. I was hoping you could help me out by registering for an account and paying the deposit. Not only will it help you find who you’re looking for on campus more quickly, but it’ll also help me complete one of my tasks!"

"And when you’re done riding, you can even apply for a refund on the deposit. After all, the Little Yellow Car is only available in Capital City for now."

Liang Xia flashed a gentle smile, an intimate expression that made it seem as if she were thinking only of his best interests. If Wu Yun hadn’t been so tested by the charms of beautiful women, he really might not have been able to resist.

It seemed Liang Xia knew how to use her assets well. Her every expression was calculated to strike at a man’s so-called protective instincts, making him unconsciously follow her train of thought.

Wu Yun didn’t resist, going along with her spiel with a smile. "Alright, a win-win situation. I’ll do it to help a fellow student complete her task. How do I register?"

Seeing Wu Yun take out his phone, Liang Xia lifted the badge hanging from a yellow lanyard on her chest and pointed to one of the QR codes on it. "iOS users scan this one."

Taking in Liang Xia’s fresh scent, Wu Yun followed her instructions to register an account, link his phone number, and pay the deposit.

Seeing that her task was complete, Liang Xia didn’t linger, simply smiling as she said her goodbyes. "I hope you have a great time at our university!"

Watching Liang Xia’s departing figure, Wu Yun chuckled in spite of himself. ’To think there’d come a day when I’d get played.’

Wu Yun walked straight toward the pedestrian entrance, easily slipping past the security guard’s "fiery, golden eyes" and successfully infiltrating the famous Huaxia institution of higher learning.

Wu Yun went to the Little Yellow Car parking area, turning down several other part-time student promoters along the way. Under their disappointed gazes, he expertly scanned a Little Yellow Car, entered the dynamic password, and after asking a student for directions, rode off toward the athletic field.

Liang Xia watched Wu Yun’s back as he left, then opened the memo app on her phone. On the screen was Wu Yun’s name and phone number. It turned out she had memorized his number in the few short seconds he was registering.

Liang Xia herself didn’t know why she had inexplicably memorized Wu Yun’s number. Was it because he was so radiant and handsome? Or was it his fashion sense and the eight-figure bank balance starting with a ’4’ that had flashed on the screen? Perhaps it was both.

Wu Yun didn’t ride fast. Pedaling the Little Yellow Car, which was no different from the ones in his past life, he compared the experience to riding the Little Red Car.

After riding for a good stretch, Wu Yun felt that the Little Red Car was more effortless to pedal. Although both bikes had adjustable seats, overall, if he were choosing as a customer, he would still prefer the Little Red Car.
