Liam stood up from the couch without saying a word. The others were still talking, laughing, and watching a livestream of someone recovering their Lucid and unboxing it.

No one paid much attention at first. They thought he’d just gone to get a drink or check something in his room. But a few minutes later, the faint sound of footsteps returning made Alex glance toward the corridor.

And then he froze.

Liam stepped out of his room holding a stack of familiar black boxes in his hands. Eight of them. Each one sleek, sharp-edged, and unmistakable.

Alex’s jaw dropped. His eyes widened so much that Matt, sitting beside him, noticed instantly.

"Dude—" Alex whispered, tapping Matt’s shoulder hard. "Look. Look."

Matt turned—and the color drained from his face. He blinked twice as if he thought his eyes were lying. Kristopher followed their gaze, frowning, and then froze too.

"What the..." Matt muttered under his breath, eyes locked on the boxes. "No way..."

He shot to his feet before he could stop himself. The sudden motion made the others turn toward him.

"What’s wrong?" Elise asked, startled.

Matt didn’t reply. He simply pointed toward Liam.

All heads turned and the room fell into complete silence.

There Liam stood, calm as ever, with eight Lucid boxes stacked neatly in his arms.

Matt took a slow step forward, his voice trembling. "Liam... are those... are those what I think they are?"

Liam didn’t speak. He only nodded once and kept walking toward the center table.

The sound of his steps echoed softly in the quiet room. No one said anything. They just watched as he placed the boxes carefully on the glass table one by one, arranging them in two perfect rows of four.

Liam picked up one of the boxes and turned to Matt.

"Here," he said simply.

Matt’s hands shook as he reached out. The box felt solid, heavy, and impossibly smooth beneath his fingers. The design was unmistakable. The image of the quasar shimmered faintly, and on the side, in clean bold silver letters, was the word:

LUCID.

He looked up at Liam, who gave a small nod—the kind that said go ahead.

Matt blinked rapidly, smiling in disbelief. "You’ve got to be kidding me," he muttered.

His grin grew wider and wider. He hurried back to his seat and began unboxing the device with the care of someone handling something sacred.

The others remained frozen. Their eyes kept shifting between the unopened boxes and Liam.

One by one, Liam handed out the rest to the rest of the group.

Each person hesitated before taking theirs, as if afraid the moment would disappear if they moved too quickly.

The sound of the seals peeling open filled the air—soft clicks and rustles that somehow sounded louder than normal.

No one knew what to say.

Matt, who was almost done unboxing, finally spoke up. "Liam," he said, staring at the smart glass resting in his hands. "How did you even get this? No—how did you get eight of them?"

Lana set her box down and crossed her arms. Her voice was calm but sharp.

"It’s impossible," she said firmly. "Even getting one unit was like winning a global lottery."

She looked around at everyone. "Think about it. There were only nine hundred and sixty Lucids distributed worldwide. Each buyer had to go through identity verification, limited-time selection, and a one-per-person restriction. Even the richest people on the planet couldn’t buy two."

Her tone grew more animated as she went on. "Statistically, it would make sense if maybe one or two people accidentally got more than one unit—but eight?" She shook her head. "No. That’s beyond luck. That’s beyond probability. You’d have a better chance of being struck by lightning every single day for a year while also winning every major lottery each day."

Kristy blinked. "That’s a real stat?"

Lana nodded. "I ran the math when the first delivery announcement dropped. The chance is effectively zero—less likely than finding the same atom twice in the entire universe."

Everyone turned to her in stunned silence.

Lana shrugged, smiling faintly. "Simple math."

Matt let out a low whistle. "Remind me never to play poker against you."

The tension broke slightly, but only for a moment. All eyes drifted back to Liam, who was now sitting down calmly, a small smile on his face.

He waited until they were all quiet again.

"You’re right," he said finally. "It’s impossible. Statistically, no one could get more than one unit—unless..." He paused, meeting each of their gazes. "Unless they’re the one who made it."

The words hung in the air like a dropped stone. It took a moment for the meaning to sink in.

The laughter died instantly. The soft sounds of unboxing stopped. Even the slightest sound felt louder in the silence.

Stacy was the first to process it, her breath still caught. "You mean..." she began quietly. "You’re saying—you’re—"

Liam nodded once. No explanation. No dramatic speech. Just that simple, calm nod.

The group froze in collective shock.

Liam chuckled softly. "You weren’t entirely wrong."

Matt’s mouth hung open. "Wait—you’re telling me you own Nova Technologies? You’re the one who built this?" He held up the Lucid in disbelief.

"Something like that. Yeah," Liam replied.

Elise let out a shaky laugh. "No way. You’re joking. This is a prank, right? Please tell me this is a prank."

Kristopher didn’t say anything. He leaned back, his expression unreadable, eyes studying Liam as if seeing him for the first time.

"So, you weren’t joking," he said slowly. "When you said you wanted to reach a level where schemes don’t matter. You really meant it ."

Liam smiled faintly at that.

The room fell silent again.

Matt, meanwhile, was practically glowing with excitement. "Man, Liam, you’re something else! First the private jet, now this? Hell, at this point, I would believe you if tell me you own NASA."

"Nah, I don’t," Liam said with a grin.

Everyone laughed—more out of disbelief than humor. The tension began to shift. The shock didn’t fade completely, but awe began to mix in.

Kristy shook her head slowly. "So all this time, the person or group everyone’s been talking about—the genius behind Nova Technologies—the one every government wants to meet... was just sitting here with us."

"I like quiet things," Liam shrugged lightly.

"You realize what this means, right? You’ve just given each of us something the entire world is scrambling for," Harper said, as he finally found his voice

"I know," Liam said.

"Then why?" Harper asked. "Why give these to us?"

Liam looked at each of them carefully before answering.

"Because you’re my friends," he said simply. "And because I trust you."

No one expected that answer.

The simplicity of it hit harder than anything else could have.

For a long moment, the group just sat there, silent, processing not just the revelation but what it meant. The world might see Liam Scott as a global enigma, a kid with an unknown background, with toys no one is age should have. But to them, he’s a friend. A good friend.

Kristopher leaned forward, his tone more serious.

"Liam," he said. "You realize this changes everything, right? Once people find out who you are—"

"They won’t," Liam interrupted gently. "At least not yet."

The calm certainty in his voice made everyone believe him instantly.

Matt looked around the room, then at the Lucid in his hands, and laughed again.

"Man, I still can’t believe this. We were just talking about Nova like some mysterious god-tier company... and you were literally sitting right there."

"I know," Liam said, still smiling. "That was my favorite part."

The group groaned and laughed all at once. Slowly, the shock faded into warmth and awe, and they got back to the usual atmosphere between them returned. But that doesn’t mean that they are ever going forget today. Ever.
