The first thing most people would probably notice was her figure.

Even beneath the armored plating, it was impossible not to notice her bust and curvy hips. Though she wore the armor of a knight, certain sections along the sides remained exposed, revealing smooth, unblemished skin.

Her silver hair flowed from beneath her helmet, catching the light as it rested across her shoulders.

The moment Denzel saw her, he immediately recognized what she was.

’A royal guard? What the hell is a royal guard doing here?’

The woman ignored Patrick’s irritation, speaking freely.

"My business is that I was sent here, and you’ve just been incredibly rude."

"Do you really think this is the best way to demonstrate your self control to me?"

Patrick’s expression darkened.

The royal guard continued speaking without the slightest hint of fear.

"Whatever you do here, keep in mind that, due to the severity of this incident, I will be inclined to report it to my superiors, and that may have consequences for what’s waiting for you today."

Patrick immediately gnashed his teeth.

His eyes shifted toward Denzel before he muttered,

"Lucky bastard."

Then he pointed at Denzel.

"He hurt me."

The royal guard immediately replied.

"If that’s so wrong then have your men detain him."

The woman simply shook her head.

"Don’t be an animal."

Then she paused before adding,

"And if you insist on being an animal, then at least be civilized about it and challenge him to a duel."

Patrick blinked.

Then a malicious smirk spread across his face.

"A duel?"

His eyes slowly shifted toward Denzel.

"Yes, that’s it."

The grin on his face widened.

"If that’s what it takes, then fine."

He pointed directly at Denzel.

"I challenge you to a duel."

The flames around him flickered slightly.

"Accept it right fucking now, or I’ll start by breaking your fucking legs right now."

Denzel stared right back at him without backing down.

"Take your best shot, asshole."

Before the situation could escalate further, the royal guard spoke again.

"You can’t have the duel now. We need to leave immediately."

She turned toward Patrick.

"You’ll be gone for an entire week while completing your screening process."

Patrick let out an irritated grunt.

"Five minutes...’

’...that’s all I need."

"No."

The royal guard’s response was immediate.

"We need to be on our way already. You’ve delayed us long enough."

Her eyes narrowed slightly.

"You had your five minutes, and you wasted them on this nonsense."

Patrick’s jaw tightened.

It was obvious he hated being spoken to that way, but he couldn’t openly argue with her.

Denzel watched the exchange from the side.

’Who the hell is this woman? She’s really talking down to Patrick like that’

’She must be someone important if even a guy like him has to hold himself back around her.’

Finally, Patrick let out a long breath.

"Fine."

His gaze returned to Denzel.

"Five days from now."

His eyes narrowed.

"We’ll have our duel and when we do, we’ll finally settle this."

The royal guard immediately looked toward Denzel.

"You should know that you don’t have to accept—!"

Before she could finish, Denzel interrupted her.

"I accept."

The woman’s eyes widened slightly

"Huh?"

For the first time since arriving, she looked genuinely surprised.

’I was trying my best to get Patrick to drop the whole thing but the kid actually accepted? Why the hell would he do that?’

Patrick, meanwhile, looked more pleased than ever. A vicious smile spread across his face as though he was already victorious.

"Yes. That’s exactly what I wanted to hear."

He pointed at Denzel.

"Wait for me. When I’m done with my business, I’ll come back for you." 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝙚𝔀𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝒐𝒎

Patrick then took one final glance toward Aisha, noticing the worried expression on her face.

A smirk crossed his lips.

’I’ll make sure he pays for hurting you mom"

"I heard her screams, I’m sure he did something to her. And for that, I’ll kill him!’

Then he turned and began walking away.

"It seems it’s a deal then, bastard."

Denzel watched him leave before calling out.

"Don’t worry about making me wait."

A grin appeared on his own face.

"Because believe me, all you’re getting that day is an ass-kicking."

Patrick didn’t bother responding as he continued walking away.

Denzel watched his retreating figure for a few seconds before turning around.

’One week’

His eyes narrowed thoughtfully.

’That should be enough time indeed...’

A smile slowly spread across his face.

’...enough time to level up.’

It didn’t take long for Denzel to arrive back home. After his encounter with Patrick, his psych could only but remain alert as he moved, unsure of what was next to come.

On reaching the door, he paused for a moment, taking a sigh to relieve himself as much as he could before he pushed open the front door, stepping casually as his slightly burnt hands trembled.

’Mmm...from my senses, I don’t think I was followed, so atleast I can rest with the knowledge that Patrick isn’t completely a sociopath.’

He exclaimed as he eased his tension a bit, shutting the door behind him. The moment he did, a voice suddenly rang out.

"Denzel!"

His body stiffened slightly.

Turning toward the source of the voice, he was greeted by none other than Sophia.

She had just stepped out from the corridor, but the instant her eyes landed on him, all color seemed to drain from her face.

"Oh my god...your hands..."

Fear flashed across her features, and her body froze where she stood.

"What happened to your hands Denzel!?" she called out again.

Denzel immediately tensed up, a flood of thoughts rushing through his mind.

’Fucking hell. Sophia, always meddling around, I really don’t want to tell her about my fight with the son of the village chief. Damn it...what do I do...?’

As he thought of the numerous possibilities which could have possibly played out, instantly, he got a resolve.

’Wait...since this is something that Sophia will obviously want to know about, how about I use this as an opportunity to bring out her secret on why she’s working under the alias of "Karen"’

Denzel thought inwardly as he readied himself to discover the real truth behind Sophia.
