So he stood up and stepped out of the room.

He walked down the corridor toward the kitchen.

When he turned into the kitchen, his eyes landed on Maria and beside her stood none other than Sophia.

Sophia’s gaze met his for a brief moment, then she quickly looked away, pretending she hadn’t seen him at all.

Maria immediately spoke up.

"Denzel, I told you I would bring the food."

’I just got a bit hungry. I couldn’t just sit around.’

"Oh, I just got a bit hungry. I couldn’t just sit around," he replied.

Maria offered an apologetic smile.

"Oh, I’m so sorry, my dear. I just needed to warm it up for you. Just give me a few minutes and I’ll be done. And for the time I wasted, I promise I’ll...I’ll make it up to you."

Denzel looked at her quietly.

’I think we both know what she means by make it up to me.’

He nodded slightly.

’Okay.’

Maria continued speaking, and his eyes shifted to Sophia.

"Sophia, good morning," he said.

Sophia gave a small nod.

"Good morning, Denzel," she replied.

After that, she said nothing else.

Denzel kept watching her for a moment.

Without changing his expression, he turned back to Maria.

"I know, but I really want the orange," he insisted.

Maria nodded.

"Understood."

Then she left, walking toward the storage area where the fruits were kept.

Once she was gone, Denzel made sure she was out of sight. And as she disappeared into the corridor, a faint Mischievous smile drew on his face as he turned his attention back to Sophia, who had her back turned to him.

Now that they were alone, his expression hardened slightly.

’Finally, I’ve got you exactly where I want you. Now it’s time to find out what her secret is.’
