"Damn it. These people have a million different schemes, and they’re using them all on their own kind!"

Even though it was just speculation, Qiangzi slammed his fist into his chair after hearing it.

Liang Yushuang scoffed. "Whether now in the apocalypse or back in the old world, there’s never been a shortage of people who live by scheming. Boss, I know you’re powerful, but you still need to be wary of the Spiritual Ability user from Dawn, and those potions."

Li Xingye fell silent for a moment before sighing. "If that day truly comes, sacrificing myself to end the apocalypse might be the best option. My only fear is that what they want isn’t the same as what I want."

The others stared at each other. ’Were those saintly words really coming from Li Xingye?’

Qiangzi opened his mouth to say something, but Haozi pulled him back.

Haozi seemed agitated. "Boss! Why should you be the one to be sacrificed?! Even if your superpower is different from ours, that just means you’re strong! Besides, even if the whole world turned against us, we would never betray you!"

Liang Yushuang followed Li Xingye’s gaze and, seeming to have guessed something, said softly, "It’s too early to be talking about this. What if, one day, that Healing system user from Baiyi Base can actually restore the zombies?"

Li Xingye’s lips curled into a cold smile.

But the words that came out of his mouth were steeped in self-sacrifice. "Enough. When I saved all those people, wasn’t it because I wanted to end the apocalypse sooner? If Dawn truly has a way to unravel the secrets of the apocalypse, then what’s wrong with cooperating with them?"

Outside the tent, tiny shoots of grayish-black grass had just begun to sprout, carpeting the ground and blending in with the soil.

On the seemingly empty ground, those barely visible sprouts were suddenly crushed by something, only to slowly spring back into place.

Li Xingye chuckled softly. "Getting so flustered all of a sudden. I wonder if something’s wrong at their base?"

Qiangzi, finally catching on, asked tentatively, "Are they gone?"

Li Xingye nodded. "There was something sprinkled on their clothes, and on their shoes. I’m not sure if it’s the potion Sister Liang mentioned. The good news is, it doesn’t seem to have any effect on me."

Hearing this, Liang Yushuang breathed a sigh of relief. "With your power, Boss, they don’t stand a chance in a head-on fight. As long as those potions are useless against you, we have nothing to worry about.

"Still... Xu Zhuang just died, and they’re already this desperate to snoop for information. It could be that something really has gone wrong at their base."

Cheng Peng, who had been silent until now, suddenly turned to Liang Yushuang. "Yushuang, you were at Dawn Base for a long time. Did you ever see their leader?"

Liang Yushuang looked up to meet Li Xingye’s steady gaze, not hiding anything. "With ample food and High-level Crystal Cores, Xiao Liu has already advanced to Tier Six. Level 5 Crystal Cores are becoming less and less useful for her now."

As a Divine Ability within the Support System, the Healing system doesn’t involve much risk when leveling up, unlike the Attack System. As long as you stack up enough Crystal Cores, you can always slowly advance.

But the higher the rank, the higher the level of Crystal Cores required. For a healer, taking down a High-level Zombie alone is basically impossible.

Li Xingye’s gaze lowered as if in deep thought. "Tier Six... Only the people at Baiyi know what a healer at the Seventh Rank or above is truly capable of. Hearing Li Xingye’s words, Qiangzi and the others all rose to their feet.
