My Space Connects to the Apocalyptic World

Seeing Chi Wan pull another chair out of thin air from what she called the "Parallel Space" and fit the protective gear onto it, Professor Zhang finally let out a sigh of relief. He also gave Zhou Huaijin a light smack on the back of his head.

He lowered his voice. "You’re usually so cautious. Why were you so reckless today?! Even if you trust Wanwan completely, you can’t gamble with your own life!"

Zhou Huaijin knew his professor wasn’t doubting Chi Wan, just worried about a potential accident.

He also whispered, "That’s why Wanwan gave me the gun and chose to use the protective gear herself."

Professor Zhang froze. Before he could say anything, Chi Wan called out happily from a short distance away, "It’s ready! Come and try it."

Zhou Huaijin acknowledged her and took the gun.

As Professor Zhang watched their backs, he sighed and muttered, "I’m getting old. I really don’t understand you young people anymore."

But soon, Professor Zhang had no time for such thoughts.

He was utterly astonished to find that the set of protective gear Chi Wan had produced was completely different from what they had imagined!

Normal protective gear blocked projectiles, but this gear seemed to... freeze them.

When the bullet flew toward the gear, not only was there no familiar sound of impact, but the moment it got close, it was as if something had forcibly stopped it in its tracks!!

It didn’t even harm the person being protected; there wasn’t a single scratch on the gear’s surface!

That wasn’t all. Initially, Professor Zhang had thought the gear’s protective range seemed a bit narrow. But when Zhou Huaijin did as Chi Wan said and fired at the uncovered part of the chair’s back, above the gear, something beyond their comprehension happened.

The bullet was still suspended in mid-air before falling straight to the ground!

Professor Zhang could no longer contain his excitement. "Wanwan! How many sets of this gear do you have?!"

Years ago, to stifle Hua Country’s technological development, the United States and other countries imposed a joint blockade. They went even further, resorting to the most extreme measures to assassinate top experts who were returning home after studying abroad.

At the Chinese Academy of Sciences, many leaders of classified projects practically dedicated their entire lives to their small laboratories. This was because they worried that if they could come and go as they pleased, they would be subjected to all sorts of threats and temptations. Amidst such unscrupulous tactics, even their lives couldn’t be fully guaranteed.

But everything Chi Wan had shown them made Professor Zhang realize that she had been telling the truth!

This protective gear and the suddenly sprouting vines were perhaps just a small part of that parallel world—he hadn’t forgotten that the most important thing Chi Wan had mentioned before was a new type of energy!

And their country, because of Chi Wan’s discoveries, was very likely on the verge of a brand new future!

A warmth spread through Professor Zhang’s heart, and he couldn’t help but ask, "Wanwan, is all of this made possible by that new energy source you mentioned?"

Chi Wan nodded, then shook her head, confusing Professor Zhang.

Chi Wan gave a brief and concise summary of the apocalyptic situation in Li Xingye’s world, emphasizing the effects of Crystal Stone energy when combined with various superpowers, as well as its feasibility as a replacement for conventional energy sources.

Professor Zhang and Zhou Huaijin’s eyes shone with excitement as they listened.

Zhou Huaijin finally understood what Chi Wan had meant earlier when she’d told him not to blame her for deceiving him. "So, Wanwan, that Golden Silk Horse Tail from before... you saved it using these, um, ’superpowers’?"

Chi Wan nodded. "Yes. In the Parallel Space, I know a Wood Element master. All the miracles related to plants were his doing. That includes the seed canister from before; it also stored his superpower."

For some reason, as he listened to Chi Wan talk about this so-called "Wood Element master," Zhou Huaijin got the distinct impression that he was a young man.

’But, that world is an apocalypse, after all. It couldn’t be...’

Meanwhile, when Professor Zhang heard that Chi Wan could use those superpowers to shorten a plant’s growth cycle, his heart was already pounding with excitement.

The Healing system had always been unique, so this was actually something everyone could accept.

Ultimately, Professor Zhang was still more concerned with his experiments than with energy.
