After saying goodbye to Qin Shi, Chi Wan’s first move was to contact Song Baihan.
Song Baihan wasn’t surprised when he received Chi Wan’s call. He even sounded a little pleased. "Miss Chi, to what do I owe the pleasure?"
He had assumed Chi Wan was calling about the contents of the flash drive, but she ended up asking about something completely unrelated.
"I hear He Lingfeng is throwing a party at the old family estate this Friday. I want to go. Is there a way you can arrange for me to be plausibly ’lured’ inside?"
Chi Wan got straight to the point, humbly asking the old fox for his expertise.
Song Baihan was taken aback at first, but he quickly guessed Chi Wan’s motive and couldn’t help but chuckle. "You’ve got some nerve, Miss Chi. Aren’t you afraid you’ll get in over your head? That He Lingfeng kid has always been known for his wild parties."
Chi Wan’s tone was even. "Of course I have my reasons. No need to test me, Grandpa Song. We’re still partners, for now. If we can use He Lingfeng to create a breach, I’m sure you’d be happy to see it."
Far from being annoyed, Song Baihan agreed. "You’re right. At this point, I just want everything to move as quickly as possible. It seems that flash drive proved quite useful."
Chi Wan tsked. "Grandpa Song, I’ve already let it slide that you used me as a human shield. Do you keep bringing it up because you think I don’t have a temper?"
’It’s not like Song Baihan wouldn’t have wanted to hand that flash drive straight to the police, right? But his position meant he could never do such a thing. So, he gave it to me instead, earning himself a favor in the process.’
’This was why Chi Wan disliked these old foxes who’d lived for decades and were nothing but schemes from head to toe.’
Song Baihan laughed heartily. "Don’t be angry, don’t be angry. I just love seeing you youngsters so full of life. Don’t worry, leave it to me. Just wait for my news."
Only then was Chi Wan satisfied. "Then I’ll be counting on you, Grandpa Song~"
With that, she hung up without a moment’s hesitation.
Listening to the dial tone, Song Baihan just smiled and shook his head. "Kids these days. So feisty."
The old man beside him handed him a cup of tea, teasing, "Since when did you meet such a young friend? Don’t tell me..."
Song Baihan waved his hand dismissively. "Oh, stop. You know all of that is just for He Yunzhen’s benefit. This young lady, though... she’s very interesting. Who knows, maybe the He Family will fall to her one day."
Hearing this, the old man stopped teasing and sat up straight. "What do you mean?"
But Song Baihan just smiled and raised his teacup. "Patience. First, I need you to do something for me..."

With that taken care of, Chi Wan headed for the lab building to meet Zhou Huaijin as planned.
When Zhou Huaijin saw Chi Wan arrive, he led her toward Professor Zhang, remarking casually, "I’m suddenly feeling sad, like you and our professor are leaving me out."
Chi Wan just smiled. "Senior Brother, how can you say that? You’re Professor Zhang’s prized final student."
But Zhou Huaijin shook his head as he opened the door. "Being the ’final student’ just makes being left out even sadder, doesn’t it?"
Professor Zhang was just walking out. Hearing Zhou Huaijin, he smiled and pointed a finger at him. "I see you’ve been learning from Wanwan, haven’t you? The Huaijin I used to know wouldn’t talk like this."
"Maybe this is just Senior Brother’s true self coming out," Chi Wan retorted playfully.
Professor Zhang said with an amused laugh, "Alright, alright. Come on, ’final student.’ Let’s go see what surprise our Wanwan has for me. Is that alright, Wanwan?"
Chi Wan glanced around. It seemed Professor Zhang had specifically found a vacant lab for today’s "experiment," so it was just the three of them.
Seeing the eager look in Zhou Huaijin’s eyes, Chi Wan nodded. "Of course Senior Brother Xiao Zhou can stay. But... when you see what’s about to happen, you can’t be mad that I deceived you before, okay?"
This only made Zhou Huaijin more curious. "When did you ever deceive me, Wanwan?"
Chi Wan waved her hand dismissively. "You’ll see in a minute... Are we doing it here?"
Instead, Professor Zhang led them into what was once a sterile room. Since it was no longer in use, it was a perfect private space.
He closed the door, a hint of anticipation in his voice. "Let’s begin."
Chi Wan took a deep breath. "Before I start, I have to confess something. Everything I’m about to show you... it all comes from a Parallel Space. I know it sounds like something out of a science fiction story, but just watch—"
An unremarkable little jar suddenly materialized in her previously empty hand.
Witnessing what looked like a magic trick, the professor and his student couldn’t help but exchange a glance. They remained silent, quietly waiting for Chi Wan’s next move.
Soon, something happened that went far beyond their expectations.
They didn’t know what Chi Wan did, but in an instant, the tiny jar sprouted a massive vine that shot straight up to the ceiling!
"This..."
’If this thing can accelerate seed growth, then my experimental seedlings...’ Professor Zhang didn’t know how she’d done it, but he suddenly recalled their earlier conversation, and his heart began to race.
"Wanwan, what is this?" Zhou Huaijin, also stunned, stared at the enormous plant. He suddenly remembered the little courtyard at Chi Wan’s house, and the treehouse that came later. "Those vines from before, and your treehouse—were they made from this?"
But Chi Wan just said, "Patience. It’s not over yet."
Fortunately, the sterile room was spacious and empty, giving Chi Wan plenty of room to work.
First, she pulled an ordinary gun out of thin air. Then, she materialized a special piece of protective gear. It didn’t look very thick—just a vest, and the areas it could protect seemed limited.
The vest had numerous small, apparently detachable pockets. Because it was so thin, it wasn’t very noticeable when worn.
After handing the gun to Zhou Huaijin, Chi Wan put on the vest. "Senior Brother, try shooting me."
Zhou Huaijin was still reeling from seeing Chi Wan pull a pile of things out of nowhere—culminating in a gun—when she told him to shoot her.
Professor Zhang may have been worldly, but he’d certainly never seen anything like this. He instinctively tried to dissuade her. "Now, hold on, Wanwan! Even if you want to demonstrate how reliable the armor is, you can’t just have someone shoot you!"
After all, even with existing body armor, while it might stop a bullet, the force of the impact is no joke. How could a seemingly delicate young woman like Chi Wan possibly handle that?
But seeing Chi Wan’s complete confidence, Zhou Huaijin guessed this armor was probably different from what they were imagining.
He handed the gun back to Chi Wan. "If anyone’s going to test it, it should be me. Since you’re so confident in this armor, Wanwan, then I should wear it."
Professor Zhang felt a massive headache coming on. "Does it absolutely have to be worn by someone? Can’t we play it safe and put it on a chair?"
Chi Wan smacked her forehead. "Oh, right. I was so focused on showing you the effect. Good point. Let’s put it on the chair first."
