Min-ho thought for a moment before answering.
Taking in a deep breath, he went on a spiel about everything that had happened. Once he was done, he clarified several times that he was not responsible for the death of the Z-Streamers—despite her never having asked.
She contemplated for a second or two before giving a response.
"The distance shouldn’t be a problem, not with Jang-book by our side."
Min-ho was left surprised by what she had to say. She wasn’t against Jang-book being a part of the team, and she didn’t suspect Min-ho in the slightest.
Instead, she was worried about more practical reasons.
He sighed, then produced a canteen of water when he noticed her taking the last bite.
"We can’t just keep relying on him. The team has to grow too. Else we’ll be caught with our pants down when stronger Spectors begin to show up."
He handed her the canteen, which she took into her hands, touching only its base and avoiding Min-ho’s hand. 𝙛𝒓𝒆𝙚𝒘𝒆𝓫𝙣𝓸𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝒄𝒐𝓶
"But with that Affinity of yours, his kills can benefit the entire team." She opened the canteen and began to gulp down its contents.
Min-ho froze, running over what Sae-wee had said in his head.
He hadn’t thought of it, but her idea was brilliant. Using Jang-book like a laser saw to tear through hordes of Spectors while feeding off his Coins was a great idea.
He could plow through Spectors without breaking a sweat and then give the Coins to another member, while also adding the percentage Min-ho would get from his kills.
Though he would still have to kill over a thousand Spectors, it was a step in the right direction.
Slowly, each member would bump up a Tier, making the grind that much easier for the rest of them.
And if they played their cards right, all of them would have grown a Tier before heading deep enough into the city to come across Second Tier Spectors.
His heart thumped.
Perhaps they would survive this after all.
He smiled, struggling to contain his joy.
"I think the name Savior was fitting for you," he whispered to only his hearing.
Sae-wee caressed the canteen, her eyes shaking.
"We’ll talk details tomorrow. Right now, you need some sleep. We’ll all need our strength then," Min-ho said.
Sae-wee hesitated.
"I’m sure it’ll be morning soon." She turned to face him. "Why didn’t you get some sleep?"
"I couldn’t," he said, faltering his gaze.
"Well, I’ve slept enough. You should go get some sleep. I’ll be here for a while longer." She returned her sights to the sky. "There’s a mini levitating pad over there," she pointed, "Tap it twice with your feet, it should come down after."
She brought in her hand and began to rub her arms as the cold settled in. Not that it could be helped, as her clothes were covered in tears in almost every corner.
Staring for a bit, Min-ho took off his jacket and placed it on her back.
"Don’t catch a cold out here. Wouldn’t want a sick member slowing us down," he said, then got onto his feet and made for the direction she pointed.
Seeing the oddly shaped circle on the floor, he knew instantly it was his mini floating platform.
As he was about to lift his foot, Sae-wee’s voice stopped him.
"I... I just wanted to say thank you. For... for everything."
He froze in place.
Turning his sights to her, he found her staring at the sky as she spoke, while rubbing her arms now hidden under his jacket.
"I know I sort of dumped us all in your hands... but you’ve really come through." She fell her gaze and shuffled. "Believe it or not, we’d still have gone to that Event even if you never brought it up. In other words, none of us would be here had it not been for you."
Min-ho remained silent, his nerves shaken at the thought.
"Can I ask you a question?" he asked.
"What is it?" she responded, her gaze still pinned to the floor.
"What did you say to the others to get them to join me?"
Sae-wee smiled, but Min-ho couldn’t see it from where he was standing.
"Nothing much. Just some stuff about themselves to make them believe I could actually see the future. Then..."
Min-ho listened with rapt attention.
"Then..." Sae-wee paused.
She turned to Min-ho, her golden eyes watered as she spoke.
"Can I... tell you this another time?" she asked, then fell her gaze.
Min-ho stood still, unflinching.
He couldn’t help but marvel at Sae-wee, as she was something of an anomaly. Staring at her, he wondered if he could ever understand her.
"That’s okay," Min-ho said, then he tapped his foot on the platform twice.
It creaked and groaned, then began to descend.
As he was being lowered, he never once took his eyes off Sae-wee, up until his vision of her was cut off once he was lowered far enough.
Sitting alone on the roof, Sae-wee tried to suppress the pain screaming in her heart. The images thrashing around in her head.
She clamped her fingers into her arms as the cold bit deep. On her left hand, her pinky finger was missing. She sat motionless while staring at her System.
