Heroines, something wrong with them?

Loid’s bare feet sank into the snow as he walked; his feet were numb, and the cold pain just increased and just kept increasing.

But he didn’t stop. It was a good thing he had good night vision, given by a system’s gift pack when his body was evolved.

He looked ahead.

There was no source of light left when the train was gone. Here, every building was in the dark as the electricity was cut; at least in the morning they saw the same street lamps or some lights in the shops. But the light in this area was completely gone. In the sky, there were no stars or moon, just a thick layer of dark clouds. In the morning, at least they could see light like early dawn, but here he was sure that, if not for the system gift pack, he would be completely blind right now.

He wasn’t sure how others would be seeing things.

He gazed down.

Lalica was leaning against his chest; her head rested on his shoulder as he carried her in his arms.

She wasn’t wearing any thick clothes; it was clear she had left the train in a hurry to stop that monster.

But he wasn’t worried about her catching a cold, as she had already told him earlier she didn’t feel much cold. Her body was strong, so he was just worried that overusing her ability wouldn’t have left any permanent damage or hidden injuries on her.

Loid took a cold breath before letting it out; even his neck and lungs were freezing.

Walking to the corner of the street, he took a turn toward the diraction were was eveyone went. He wanted to see them safe.

He stopped looking ahead.

"What the! Haha’’ He chuckled. Seeing the train slowly coming toward him.

He sighed in relief; the aching feeling he was carrying in his chest finally released him.

They’re safe.

He walked toward them. Getting closer, he stood at the side, and soon the train stopped in front of him.

The door was opened.

"Hurry, come in ’’ It was Veronica, always too excited.

He stepped into the train, and Veronica closed the door behind him.

When Loid’s feet touched the floor, he felt instant relief from the cold pain. Then the floor felt too hot. Also like pins stabbed his feet.

"Ahh!.." A small cry escaped from his mouth.

"Sit, sit, here," Elizabeth said, making him sit on the seat next to the door behind the first row with the driving seat.

Loid placed Lalica’s butt on his lap.

"Um", Lalica snuggled with his body, wrapping her arms around his neck.

"Hey, you’re finally awake", Loid said.

"You saved me, darling,’’ Lalica muttered, opening her eyes.

"Well, saved us all. Who knows how that monster was gonna play with the train when we were still inside." Loid laughed lightly.

"Are you feeling alright?’’ Elizabeth asked.

"Yeah, I’m fine, " Loid glanced at Elizabeth.

"What about you, Lalica dear"

"I’m fine too. It’s just a headache. Now it’s completely gone.’’

Just then, Mira entered the carriage, holding a bucket in her hand. Elizabeth took the bucket from her.

Placing it in front of Loid’s feet, she checked the temperature of the water first with her hand, then placed Loid’s feet in warm water.

"Ahh! It’s hot"

"No, it’s not. Just bear it for a few seconds, sweety," Elizabeth said, stopping him from removing his feet from the water.

After ten or twenty seconds, Loid started feeling good.

He looked at Elizabeth still bent on her knees.

"Stood up, I’m fine now."

Elizabeth nodded and stood up. Loid was about to ask her if they saw a monster coming toward them.

" We saw a monster passing us’’ Veronica said before he asked anything.’’ You were right; it was after light, so when that thing left, we drove the train back. Don’t you want us to leave the train there, would you?’’

"When did I say that? You guys did a good job," Loid said, looking at Veronica. "Especially when you fired a gun at that thing; it was so brave of you."

Loid wasn’t lying; he really thought that. He himself was scared. He knew what it took to move in a situation like that. Though what they both did was stupid, it could have created problems for them instead of helping.

"Of course..." Veronica just raised her nose high, liking the praise, but his thoughts threw a bucket of cold water on her. She knew what he meant by stupidity; it was just a gun sound attracting zombies, and she couldn’t deny his thinking. She felt annoyed. Next time I would use a silencer. Veronica thought.

Loid looked at Amilia, who was sitting in the driving seat.

"We can’t use lights at night, so I would drive. I have good night vision, but I don’t know how to drive."

"No, it’s fine, darling. I can also see in the dark," Lalica said.

"Really!" Loid was a little surprised.

Amilia sighed slowly; She just didn’t want to stay in this area. She was scared. And her daughter was still trembling.

Amilia glanced at twins sister sitting with her daughter, sticking close; the fear on their faces was clear. Everyone would be horrified seeing that thing.

She looked at Mira as she sat next to Gwen’s seat behind Loid and Lalica.

Mira acted brave but was shaken from inside. And the blonde girl next to her was trembling even more than Alice.

Lucky two people who didn’t see the monster; one was her husband. And the other was Barbara.

Amilia told Barbara that everything was fine when they were coming to see what happened; she had sent her back to their room to rest just to be polite since their was kids with her, but Gwen insisted on coming with her; now she’s shaking.

"What was that thing?" Mira asked.

"Yeah, mum! Do you know?"

"How would I know, sweetheart? It’s just a monster, one of many". Elizabeth said.

"You didn’t tell us there were such giant monsters ’’

"Sweetheart, I didn’t know we were going to encounter..."

"No, that’s not. I mean, you didn’t tell us there was such a big monster.’’

"Oh, I think I did"

"No, you don’t. You just tell us fast type..’’

"Well, sorry, I guess, then I will tell you now there was a big monster, bigger than a twenty-floor building,’’

"What really?!.. They were literally titans." Veronica opened her mouth wide in shock.

"Where did they come from? What if we encounter another one?" Veronica asked.

’’We won’t engage with them in battle,’’ Loid said.’’ They were not targeting humans, then I guess it’s not hard to avoid them; just don’t use light, even in the morning.’’

They just had to switch off the light in this carriage while driving. They can use the light in other carriages normally while using window shutters. It won’t be a problem since they don’t open the window shutters to begin with, nor do they use the doors of those carriages.

Thinking back about that giant monster.

It looks like humankind wasn’t totally abandoned by the world yet. Since zombies only react to loud sounds, this giant thing reacts to light; Loid thinks it won’t eat humans either. His guess was a zombie since he didn’t see any in this area, not a single one...

But he can’t imagine what would happen if they were smart, able to think, or had all senses; then it would be true terror, though it’s already horrifying enough.
