"We’re all promising young people, born under the red flag and raised in the spring breeze! Naturally, when we see someone who’s lost, we must lend a hand to pull them back and stop them from going down a path of no return!" Wen Ying said this with a solemn expression, her words filled with righteous conviction.

Anyone who saw her would have thought she was an incredibly patriotic and righteous youth.

And of course, she was.

It took a long moment for Director Wen to snap out of it. His expression was one of shock, and his voice trembled. "Doctor Wen, did you just say that if I agreed, I’d be sent to prison? That it would completely ruin my career? Were they setting a trap for me?"

Although this was the first time he’d encountered something like this, he had heard about many of the industry’s unspoken rules when he first started out.

It seemed to be a tacit understanding—everyone knew, but no one ever brought it out into the open.

So why was his case an exception?

"Patient, are you wondering why other directors get away with the casting couch, but you’d get in trouble the moment you tried? Are you feeling like you just have bad luck?"

Director Wen nodded blankly. ’Doctor Wen really is the real deal!’

What he was thinking now was a far cry from his mindset when he first joined the stream.

[Holy cow! He knows the casting couch is disgusting and wrong, yet he was still planning to partake in it?]

"What does that have to do with me? If it’s that serious, why are they still coming after me?" Director Wen just wanted answers. Besides, he hadn’t actually done anything yet. They couldn’t say he was morally corrupt, could they?

"Because you’ve been had!" Wen Ying’s words made the director freeze. ’I’ve been had?’

"They were tricking me? How is that possible!"

As Director Wen spoke, he suddenly spun around to look at one of the men behind him, who immediately lowered his head.

"Mingzai, weren’t you the one who introduced me to that student who’s about to graduate?"

[Holy shit! This is intense! He was set up by someone on his own team?]

[Never in a million years would I have expected a plot twist like this!]

"Brother Wen! You can’t listen to this influencer’s nonsense! She’s clearly trying to drive a wedge between us! We’ve been like brothers for so many years, don’t you know what kind of person I am? How could I possibly try to set you up like this?"

Director Wen nodded as he listened. What Mingzai said was true.

Their bond had been forged over many years; it wasn’t something that had just appeared overnight.

[Why do I get the feeling this director is an idiot? He believes whatever anyone tells him? But he won’t believe Doctor Wen?]

[Then let Doctor Wen teach him a lesson about who to trust!]

"Wen Ying, I don’t know why you’re trying to frame me! We don’t even know each other, do we?"

Wen Ying nodded, looking at the screen. "Of course we don’t. I’m just treating my patient. And it just so happens that you are the cause of his psychological illness. As a psychologist with professional ethics, how could I possibly hide that from him?"

"That girl is, I believe, a woman from the patient’s maternal aunt’s husband’s-sister’s-brother’s-wife’s-mother-in-law’s family. A woman who just had plastic surgery. And she’s thirty-five."

"That’s impossible! I’ve seen a picture of her. She looks like she’s in her early twenties."

Director Wen turned and looked at Mingzai again.

Mingzai’s expression stiffened. "What plastic surgery? I have no idea! Besides, this influencer has never even met Lili. How would she know anything about her? She’s obviously a fraud!"

"Let me see your phone."

Every fiber of Mingzai’s being screamed refusal, but seeing the look in Director Wen’s eyes, he still stood up slowly and reached out his hand.

SMACK!

He flung the phone, smashing it against the wall. There was a sharp CRACK, then a CLATTER!

It then fell from the wall to the floor.

It was already smashed to pieces!

Mingzai looked at Director Wen in a rage. "Brother Wen, after all these years as brothers, you’re actually going to doubt me because of what some woman said? Heh. I gave up everything to follow you, to build something great with you, and I never imagined this is how you’d treat your brother! What was all my sacrifice for these past years?"

Director Wen was stunned by the accusation.

Guilt began to creep into his heart. ’Mingzai really has been with me for a long time, and he’s always supported my work.’

Just as Director Wen was getting lost in memories and about to apologize, Wen Ying’s voice drifted out coolly.
