Blood Primordial: Start With S-Rank Blood Dragon Bloodline

Chapter 40: Shadow Demon Panther

Max ran faster while killing other beasts that came in his way, but it was still slower than the terrifying transformation-level beast.

And in a matter of moments, it caught up with him.

Roar!

The enormous leopard jumped into the air. The ground beneath it shattered as it launched itself nearly ten metres forward, its gigantic claws descending toward Max’s back.

Max felt everything; his senses were sharpest at the moment, and he felt the terrifying presence behind his back. His instinct screamed in terror, and he didn’t hold back; he used his blood flow boost immediately to its peak.

His blood roared through his veins. His muscles exploded with power.

At the very last moment, he twisted his body and narrowly dodged the attack by a hair’s breadth.

BOOM!

The beast crashed into the ground behind him.

Its black metallic claws ripped through solid rock as though it were paper, leaving behind a massive crater.

Max felt chills. If he were to face it directly, he would be torn to shreds in a matter of seconds. But even in such a situation, he didn’t feel fear or despair; he was calmer than he expected.

Even though he was from Earth, he seemed to be adjusting to such a horrifying place quite quickly. The more he fought, the more the fear of death seemed to be disappearing from his mind, which he himself didn’t notice.

His concentration was absolute; he was in the zone. He felt every sensation amplified as he looked at the Black Panther beast.

Both the beast and Max stopped in their tracks and glanced at each other. This gave the others the chance to quickly move far away from the two.

Andrew, Mathew and the Shadow Wolf mercenaries also moved back and looked at Max with surprise. The rampaging beast was stopped, or at least it stopped, meaning it saw Max as a threat, which shocked everyone.

Everyone watched the battle with awe, although most felt Max was looking for Death.

The different corners of the eastern gate were infiltrated by second-grade beasts. Although it caught them by surprise, the transformation realm experts quickly attacked those beasts and stopped most of them.

They were attacking with their might to quickly take care of them. And although they were stronger, the number of the second-grade beasts was three times more than theirs. They needed some time to handle them.

The lady captain from the Flameheart City, at the moment, was also facing two transformation-level beasts, and it would take a minute or two for her to free herself.

She quickly noticed the black panther-like beast that attacked the soldiers and bloodline awakeners, killing and severely injuring numerous warriors. But she knew first she needed to handle the beast right in front of her.

She already expected there to be quite a heavy loss, but when she noticed the rampaging beast stopped in its tracks and was stopped by someone, she was shocked.

She looked at Max with surprise, as he was the young-talent bloodline awakener with an ancient aura. She knew he must have awakened a high-level bloodline, but a second-rank beast was too much for a newly awakened one.

She had to save the kid because he had high potential and would be a waste if he died here. She had to quickly take care of the beasts ahead of her.

Max, on the other side, was in full concentration on the battle. His breath was calm, and his mind was clear. In his eyes, there was only one thing here, which was the second-grade beast right in front of him.

Boom!

The beast moved again.

Its black metallic claws tore through the air, aiming straight for his chest. Its speed was so unbelievably fast that for most bloodline awakeners it appeared blurry, but he wasn’t an ordinary bloodline awakener.

His strength and speed had increased after all the fighting, and his use of blood flow boost also became more potent. So he was able to see the blur afterimages more clearly.

Boom!

He narrowly dodged the terrifying black claws.

The attack missed him—but it tore straight through the city wall behind him, leaving a massive hole.

The panther beast didn’t pause. Using the wall as a foothold, it instantly launched itself back toward Max.

Max remained calm; he attacked the beast coming directly while it was in mid-air, aiming for its skull, as it would be able to dodge mid-air.

His spear shot straight like a majestic cannon toward its skull.

Bang!

Clang!

"What!"

Max’s expression changed. The spear hit the beast’s skull perfectly, and he expected some damage even if he couldn’t take it down, but the moment he made contact, it felt like he wasn’t hitting a body of flesh and bones but a chunk of extremely hard metal.

Boom!

Beast counterattacks: he quickly dodged the beast’s claws, but the shock waves forced him backwards. His hands almost went numb in just this single contact.

The battle between the two was seen by everyone, and they held their breath seeing Max survive the initial confrontation.

Hope began to rise within the defenders.

If he could delay it...

Just a little longer until one of the Transformation Realm experts would eventually arrive.

Until then... They had to stop any other beasts from interfering.

Because if Max fell...

Nothing would remain to stop the terrifying black panther-looking beast from massacring everyone here.

The beast was annoyed as it had failed to kill the prey in front of him after two attacks. Its aura seemed to have changed suddenly, and a dark aura seemed to come out from it.

Max felt that something about the beast seemed to have changed. He tightened his grip on his spear, but his eyes never left; for a moment he didn’t even dare to blink.

But suddenly the gigantic Blank Panther-looking beast weighing over two tonnes disappeared right in front of him, and immediately he felt a chill down his spine.

At the same moment, the Flameheart captain had just finished killing one Grade-Two beast and was about to deal with the second. Even amidst the fierce battle, she had been keeping an eye on Max.

The instant she saw the beast disappear, her expression changed drastically. Her eyes widened in alarm.

"Move!"

"It’s a Shadow Demon Panther!" She shouted at the top of her lungs.

But... She was already too late.
