Blood Primordial: Start With S-Rank Blood Dragon Bloodline

Chapter 38: Tracking

Max was a bit surprised to learn the strength of the Shadow Wolf Mercenary. Although they might not be as strong as noble families, they weren’t weak, with so many members and twenty bloodline awakeners.

"Haha, that’s right. Although we have some strength, it is nothing, as sadly, without becoming a transformation realm expert, we’re nothing more than a slightly bigger mercenary group." Alger said with a sigh, as it was the pain for most rogue bloodline awakeners.

Without knowing the way to break through, they are struck and not able to challenge nobles’ authority. After sighing, he looked at Max and asked.

After a brief silence, Alger looked at Max again.

"So, what do you think?"

"Would the three of you be willing to join forces with us? You’ve seen the situation yourself. This was only the first wave."

"There will be many more, and each one will be more dangerous than the last."

"As the battle drags on, everyone will become exhausted. Formations will fall apart, discipline will disappear, and chaos will take over."

"So having trustworthy companions watching your back may be the difference between living and dying."

Max listened and understood what he was trying to say. As the battle went on and they faced more waves, everyone would become extremely exhausted, and the order within them would slowly disappear.

Many gathered here were criminals, desperate fugitives, psychopaths, and all kinds of madmen who were brought here as cannon fodder. So nothing can be said about what they will do in that kind of situation.

He had to admit... The old man made a convincing argument. But how can he be sure that they aren’t the ones who would stab him in the back?

He didn’t say that, but he could agree to join hands.

If betrayal truly came, he wasn’t afraid. His Blood Dragon Body granted him monstrous stamina and regeneration. When everyone else was exhausted, he would likely still have strength left.

If these people really intended to betray him, then they would simply be choosing the worst possible target.

He looked at Andrew and Mathew and then nodded. "Alright, we agree."

His voice was calm and confident, and hearing this, a smile appeared on Alger’s face.

"Good, good! Then let’s take care of each other." Alger laughed, showing happiness. The remaining three members of the Shadow Wolf Mercenary Group also relaxed, and before long, the two groups began chatting about the beast tide.

While the battle calmed down and everyone seized the opportunity to recover their strength, various forces were making their move. And it wasn’t just the Flameheart City but the entire southern region of the state of Silver River.

The beast tide hit almost all of the southern region, and more than a hundred cities were locked in terrifying battle. While most cities were trying to just survive, some stronger and ancient cities felt there was more to this beast tide.

Meanwhile, in Black Iron City—the city Max had escaped only a day earlier—the first wave of the Beast Tide had finally ended. At the top of the city wall, the mysterious woman was standing and looking at the Myraid Beast Mountains.

The wind gently stirred her black robes.

"Miss." Darius, the leader of the Blackthorn family, bowed to the woman.

She seemed not to even glance at Darius and sighed, "Is Fate really playing the game, or is it something else?" She murmured.

Darius remained silent the entire time; he neither understood what she was trying to nor tried to figure out what it meant.

He only knew one thing: that he had failed.

He had failed to capture Max and bring him before her. And what is going to happen to him will be determined by her single thought.

Every second felt like eternity to Darius; he waited for the judgement, and finally she looked at him.

"You disappointed me, Darius."

Her calm voice made his heart sink.

"However, since you at least managed to locate the person I was searching for, I won’t take your life."

A trace of relief flashed across Darius’s face.

"But..."

The single word froze his blood.

"There must still be punishment."

As those words fell, her eyes began to glow with an eerie light.

"AAAHHH!"

Darius let out a blood-curdling scream. He collapsed onto the ground, his entire body convulsing violently like a fish thrown onto dry land.

Agonised cries echoed across the city wall, but nobody dared to approach. Everyone already knew that the mysterious woman was someone whom even their family head feared. None of them possessed the courage to interfere.

The pain was terrifying as he felt his soul was being torn apart. But he could not do anything, as this was too mysterious for a transformation-Realm person like him.

Transformation Realm might seem terrifying for most of the southern region, but it was nothing for her.

"I will take one-third of the soul as a punishment. You will feel this soul tearing every month, which will remind you never to make a mistake." Her voice rang in Darius’s mind as he felt something within him torn apart.

She seemed to open her mouth, and a mysterious, silvery, transparent aura came out from Darius, and she then swallowed it.

And then, only silence remained as Darius lost consciousness. She didn’t glance at the unconscious Darius, as for her, he was just a meaningless pawn.

"Tch, those inhumane bastards. Why the hell did they have to make his mess at this moment? I have to do it myself," she cursed, looking at the Myriad Beast mountains.

Then she seemed to disappear and appear below, where soldiers and bloodline awakeners were clearing the corpses.

Her gaze swept across the crowd before settling on one of the strongest Bloodline Awakeners.

"Take me to the place where that boy lived."

The Bloodline Awakener’s expression stiffened. He didn’t dare make her wait.

"Yes, my lady."

He immediately led her through the city. Not long afterwards, they arrived at the rundown slum where Max had once lived.

The tiny shack looked as though it could collapse at any moment.

She didn’t say anything and went in, and then her eyes once again glowed in a silvery aura, but along with it she seemed to start chanting in some mysterious language.

’Funkel, funkel, kleiner Stern,

Wie (sehr) ich mich frage, was du bist.’

The room trembled. Threads of silver light emerged from every corner of the shack, gathering before her.

Slowly... The lights condensed into a small silver compass that floated quietly in the air.
