Blood Primordial: Start With S-Rank Blood Dragon Bloodline

Chapter 39: Cunning Beasts

A few hours passed, and it was early morning as the beasts in the Myraid Beast Mountain range began to move again. Numerous beasts’ roars and howls once again shook the land.

And immediately the people knew that the next wave was coming. The soldiers and warriors in every city prepared again and steel their hearts.

In Flameheart City, the situation was the same; although they rested for two or three hours and many were in terrible conditions, they still had to fight.

Max’s group, along with the mercenaries from the Shadow Wolf Mercenary group, also stood and readied for the second wave.

They silently made their way back to the city wall.

The deafening roars of countless beasts echoed across the mountains once more.

Yet this time... Something felt different.

The oppressive aura covering the land carried a strange, sinister eeriness that had been absent during the first wave. But they could not understand why they felt that.

The transformation realm expert also felt that and was even more disturbed internally as their senses were sharper, and the feeling gave them a very unpleasant feeling. Still, none of them knew the cause.

There was only one choice. Face the second wave of the beast tide and find out what this eerie feeling was about.

Max also felt the eeriness, as he was more sensitive than others when it came to blood. The land was soaked in blood, and it almost felt... As though the land itself was slowly devouring the blood—and the lives—of everything upon it.

But he cannot be sure about this, as this feeling was just his instinct, and there might be more to it.

He took a position and looked at the hordes of mad beasts running towards the city. His spear was ready, and after the first waves, his improvement was massive.

Archers continued to shoot, but this time the sea of beasts seemed to be faster and more aggressive. The horde of thousands of beasts quickly crashed into the walls, and everyone atop the wall felt the tremble.

Their expression became serious as this impact seemed stronger than the first waves. It seemed the beasts were stronger and madder than before.

"Kill!"

And with roars, they attacked the beasts that climbed the walls.

Boom! Bang! Boom! Bang!

Clang! Clang!

The battle this time from the beginning was full throttle, and the beasts seemed to become many times more aggressive. Like they didn’t feel pain or fear, and even being injured, they wouldn’t slow down.

This caused great trouble for everyone, and at the beginning of the second wave, many soldiers died, and even some bloodline awakeners lost their lives.

The pressure was intense, like the beasts were given adrenaline shots. They were faster and more ferocious.

Max fought without holding back.

Swing! Slash! Thrust!

His spear was equally ferocious and fast. He aimed for a one-shot kill. Yet even after piercing a beast’s heart or crushing its skull, another one would immediately leap toward him. But he was strong and fast; even though he received some minor scratches, it wasn’t much for him.

However, that wasn’t the case for others, as many soldiers and bloodline awakeners were overwhelmed. Most formation of soldiers was broken by the rampaging beasts who weren’t afraid of death. And the entire battlefield descended into chaos.

Everything happened so quickly that many didn’t even get the time to understand what just happened.

"Damn!"

Not far away, Andrew and Mathew cursed as they were steadily forced backwards under the relentless assault of the beasts.

Seeing their situation, Max immediately rushed over to help.

Spotting a beast lunging at Andrew, Max grabbed a spear lying beside a fallen soldier and hurled it with all his strength.

Schh! Bang!

The spear flew like an arrow, tearing through the wind and pierced the three-foot-tall rat-like beast, pinning the monster to the ground.

Only then did Max arrive beside the two brothers.

"Max, you’re here!" Andrew said with visible relief.

"We’re under a lot of pressure."

Max spun his spear and faced the charging beasts. "Then let’s deal with them together."

The three immediately formed a small battle formation, covering one another as they faced the mad beasts once again.

A few moments later, the four from the Shadow Wolf mercenary group also joined them, as they were also unable to take care of the beasts themselves.

The entire battlefield was in chaos, but before Transformation Realm beings could step forward, they noticed a powerful aura lurking in the horde of beasts.

Their aura was hidden until they reached the top, and suddenly they burst out with a terrifying aura rivalling that of the Transformation Realm and attacked the army and bloodline awakeners.

"What?!"

Everyone’s expressions changed dramatically.

This wasn’t normal. Most wild beasts weren’t intelligent enough to execute such a coordinated ambush.

Even more shocking...

None of the Transformation Realm experts had sensed them until this very moment. The battlefield instantly fell into stunned silence before erupting into even greater chaos.

Max’s group was some distance away from one of the Transformation Realm beasts. But it seemed to charge towards them, slaughtering through soldiers and other bloodline awakeners in its way.

Max and the others naturally noticed this, and their expression changed. It resembled a gigantic black leopard standing over seven feet tall.

Its dark fur seemed to swallow the surrounding light, while its massive claws, gleaming with an eerie black lustre, were charging towards their direction.

"Fuck! Run!"

Max shouted, and they quickly ran in the opposite direction. Others also did the same.

Unfortunately, before a Second-Grade Beast equivalent to the Transformation Realm, ordinary warriors stood little chance.

Many were torn apart before they could even react by its dark, blackish claws that seemed to tear even the thick stone walls.

Max saw everything and felt chill seeing its sheer raw and terrifying strength. The beast seemed to feel something, and for a moment it seemed their eyes collided.

"Shit!"

The beast seemed to lock onto him and let out a deep growl before crouching.

Then, like a black meteor, it leapt toward him with terrifying speed, crushing everything in its path.
