Li Qian’s question voiced the confusion of most of the people present.

The Mechanical Octopus emerged from the head of the defeated Shadow Soul.

No one knew what this thing was, so no one dared to make a rash move.

The Mechanical Octopus’s eight tentacles writhed wildly as it let out a sharp cry.

Although based on its size, the creature shouldn’t have had much combat power, its threatening posture intimidated the crowd.

After letting out another shriek, the Mechanical Octopus abruptly lunged, heading straight for Fatty An.

Li Qian’s reflexes were sharp. He instantly used his Soul Contract to give Qizai a command.

Qizai understood Li Qian’s command and unleashed a Water Arrow without hesitation.

WHOOSH!

The Water Arrow was incredibly fast, striking the Mechanical Octopus in an instant.

BAM!

The Water Arrow sent the Mechanical Octopus flying, and seeing its apparent weakness, the crowd grew restless, ready to act.

However, the Mechanical Octopus wasn’t killed by the blow. As luck would have it, it landed right next to Sun Shouhe.

Sun Shouhe was startled and instinctively prepared to summon his Pet Beast.

He had also formed a contract with a Pet Beast. However, since the contract was recent, its current strength was only at the Ordinary Level, even though its Potential was impressive enough to reach the Dominator Level.

Panicked, he instinctively tried to summon his Pet Beast, but his reaction was a beat too slow. Before he could finish, the Mechanical Octopus sprang up and pounced on him.

Though the Mechanical Octopus wasn’t large—only about the size of a washbasin—its shrill cries and eight sharp, mechanical tentacles radiated an aura of danger.

Tackled to the ground by the Mechanical Octopus, Sun Shouhe trembled uncontrollably. The Summoning Array that had begun to glow was interrupted, instantly fading away.

SHLICK!

"Aaargh!"

A mechanical tentacle of the Octopus suddenly stabbed and sliced at Sun Shouhe’s waist, causing him to let out a blood-curdling scream.

Clearly, the Mechanical Octopus’s attack had injured Sun Shouhe, but it wasn’t clear where.

After piercing him, the tentacle flicked upward. With a loud RRRIP, it tore Sun Shouhe’s pants.

With his pants torn, a large patch of pale flesh was exposed. As the mechanical tentacle continued to move, the tear widened beyond just his hip.

Li Qian even caught a glimpse of Sun Shouhe Jr... er, it was much smaller than he’d imagined.

Many of the girls present saw it too. The bolder ones looked on with curiosity, while the shy ones quickly turned their heads away.

Li Qian also noticed a long, bloody gash on Sun Shouhe’s body, running from his waist down to his thigh.

It must have been from the mechanical tentacle’s earlier strike.

No wonder he was screaming like a stuck pig.

Just as everyone stood there, unsure what to do, a familiar voice suddenly shouted, "Don’t let it get the phone!"

The words jolted Li Qian into action. He whipped his head around and saw one of the Mechanical Octopus’s tentacles coiled around a cell phone.

It was Sun Shouhe’s phone.

At the sight, he suddenly understood.

’So that’s it! The Mechanical Octopus pounced on Sun Shouhe and stabbed his hip just to get the phone in his pocket.’

’But what does it want with a phone?’

Li Qian was thoroughly confused.

As he watched in confusion, the Mechanical Octopus suddenly melted into a puddle of liquid metal and seeped into Sun Shouhe’s phone.

Li Qian stared, completely baffled.

’What in the world is going on?’

As he stared, half-baffled and half-confused, a figure quickly approached, speaking in a frustrated tone. "Damn it, the little bastard still got in."

Li Qian turned to the newcomer, his confusion plain on his face. "Security Officer Zhou, what... what in the world is going on?"

Indeed, the person who had just spoken was none other than Zhou Weiping, a Security Officer from the Lingshui City Public Security Bureau whom Li Qian had met on two prior occasions.

Beside him stood two other Security Officers, also dressed in black uniforms.

"I’ll explain later. First, we need to deal with this thing," Zhou Weiping said, his gaze fixed on the phone the Mechanical Octopus had seeped into.

As they spoke, the phone began to twist with a series of KLAK-KLAK sounds. A BZZZT filled the air, and within a few seconds, it had reassembled itself into a robot only thirty to forty centimeters tall.

Li Qian was stunned by the sight.

He snapped out of it quickly, however, and without a moment’s hesitation, commanded Qizai to attack again.

Sensing that this newly formed phone-robot was agile and likely very fast, Li Qian had Qizai immediately use Water Arrow: Thousand Arrows Attack.

His Water Arrow: Thousand Arrows Attack had already reached the ’Skilled’ level. Upon activation, hundreds of water arrows shot forth in an instant—a truly spectacular sight.

A small, artificial pond near the hotel entrance was instantly sucked dry.

"Not bad, kid. That Cyan-Scaled Flood Dragon of yours is really something else!" Zhou Weiping couldn’t help but exclaim, impressed by the display.

Meanwhile, he and the other two Security Officers didn’t stand idly by. They summoned their Pet Beast Fire Mastiffs and unleashed Flame Spray from the other side.

A clash of water and fire. Although their powers partially canceled each other out, it was still far more than the phone-robot could handle.

After a few more Skills were unleashed, the phone-robot met the same fate as the Car Robot, beaten until it was no longer operational.

Just as before, the Mechanical Octopus emerged from the phone-robot. It was clear, however, that the creature had lost much of its earlier energy.

It lunged out, its target now the nearest person—Zhou Weiping. He showed no mercy, commanding his Fire Mastiff to strike it down with a Fire Claw.

BZZZZT...

The Mechanical Octopus was instantly struck, erupting in a shower of electric arcs and sparks before going still, its combat capabilities neutralized.

Apparently, its combat power was greatly diminished once it was forced out of a host.

The crowd had failed to seize the opportunity earlier, allowing it to find a host. This time, they wouldn’t make the same mistake.

In truth, it never got the chance.

Because Zhou Weiping simply scooped it up and sealed it inside a Black Box.

Now that the situation was under control, Li Qian walked over quickly. "Security Officer Zhou, what was all that about?" he asked.

Zhou Weiping glanced at the Black Box in his hand, his brow furrowed. "It’s those bastards from the Mechanical Desecration Association!"

"Mechanical Desecration Association?"

Zhou Weiping’s words left Li Qian confused, and he wasn’t the only one; everyone else present was just as curious.

It was the first time any of them had heard the name. It sounded like some kind of organization...
