Beast Taming: I'm Really Not a Cultivation Master

The Thousand-Year Puppet had rushed into the water so impatiently, after only a brief healing. This was a clear sign that the situation below was grim.

Just as everyone was waiting anxiously, strange bursts of red light suddenly spilled out from the reservoir.

"Get back!" Chujiang River, far more experienced than Li Qian and Chu Xiran, saw what was happening and immediately shouted a warning.

At his words, everyone instinctively fell back. Just as they began their retreat...

BOOM!

Amid a blinding flash of red light, a crimson Energy Ball, a good ten meters in diameter, shot out and blasted a gaping hole in the reservoir.

In that very chasm, with the water forced aside by the crimson Energy Ball, everyone saw it...

A deep blue rift, like a scar, had materialized out of thin air near the center of the reservoir floor.

From within that deep blue rift, a beast’s head, roughly seven to eight meters in diameter, had pushed more than halfway out.

Though he only saw the upper half, in the fleeting glimpse before the water closed in, Li Qian clearly saw a sharp, single horn on the beast’s head.

The head resembled a rhino’s, but it was far more savage and terrifying, with protruding fangs and covered in sharp barbs.

Of course, the biggest difference was its size. No species of rhino had a head seven or eight meters in diameter.

The moment they saw the savage head, everyone understood: it was the one that had fired the Energy Ball.

Before they could even react, the water rushed back together, and the scene vanished.

"So this is the terrifying power of a true Emperor Level!" After the scene vanished, Niu Fenjin finally managed to swallow, his voice coming out raspy.

After hearing Niu Aihua, Chujiang River’s tone was resolute. "We absolutely cannot let a monster like that get out!"

With that, he readied himself to enter the water and support Elder Tie’s group.

As Chujiang River got ready, the others also grew eager for action.

However, just as they were preparing to move, a sudden WHOOSH echoed out. Then, before their astonished eyes, the entire reservoir was sliced in two by an invisible blast of energy.

The entire reservoir was parted by the invisible energy, forming a chasm three to four hundred meters long that reached the reservoir floor. The water was unable to close back in, as if held apart by some unseen force.

And just as they suspected...

...at the bottom of the chasm, they saw a Pet Beast. It was entirely jet-black, with four wings and deep green markings on its body.

This Pet Beast looked a lot like a mantis... er, to be precise, it *was* a mantis.

One that was far larger than any normal mantis and stood upright on its hind legs.

"That’s Elder Tie’s third Pet Beast! It’s a Space Element Pet Beast!" Li Qian exclaimed instinctively, seeing the mantis-like creature standing not far from Elder Tie.

As for what kind of Pet Beast it was exactly, however, he had no idea. 𝑓𝘳𝑒𝑒𝓌𝘦𝘣𝘯ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝑚

As a Breeder, his knowledge of Pet Beasts was quite solid. Still, he was only a high school student; he couldn’t possibly recognize every type of Pet Beast, especially the more obscure ones.

Li Qian didn’t recognize the mantis-like Pet Beast, but someone else did. "It’s a Four-Winged Mantis!" Niu Aihua exclaimed in surprise.

While everyone stared at the scene, stunned and unsure of what to do, Elder Tie’s voice echoed up from the bottom of the chasm. "Don’t just stand there watching! Seize this opportunity! All of us, attack together and knock it back!"

His words made it clear: the chasm parting the waters was the work of that Four-Winged Mantis.

Elder Tie was creating an opportunity for them, a chance to directly attack the Magical Beast still trapped in the Unstable Rift.

In truth, they didn’t know that parting the reservoir was no easy feat; even for a Four-Winged Mantis that had reached the Level of a Tier Nine Dominator, it was a feat it could not maintain for long.

The fact that it could be done with relative ease now was thanks to their earlier efforts in cutting off the water’s source and increasing the discharge rate.

Hearing Elder Tie’s reminder and seeing the Rhino Demon Beast still stuck in the Unstable Rift—unable to advance or retreat and seemingly posing no threat—Niu Fenjin let out a wicked grin. Without hesitation, he commanded his Pet Beast to charge down. "How can we pass up a chance to kick ’em while they’re down!"

Li Qian’s eyes lit up as well. "Qizai, Xiaoliu, and the rest of you big guys, all together now!" he roared.

At his command, the eight Frostfire Salamanders unleashed their Fire Skills almost simultaneously.

At the same time, the five Cyan-Scaled Flood Dragons showed no restraint, coordinating perfectly to unleash their Wind Skills.

The fire, fueled by the wind, surged in power, and the combined assault blasted toward the Unstable Rift.

Or more precisely, toward the rhino-like Magical Beast trapped in the middle of the Unstable Rift.

"ROAR, ROAR, ROAR..."

The rhino-like Magical Beast was pummeled by the group’s attacks. A deluge of Skills rained down as if they cost nothing, battering the beast until it could not help but roar in pain.

Its hide was thick and its defenses were astonishing, but trapped in a predicament where it could neither advance nor retreat, it could only take the hits. And those hits still hurt.

After all, even chipping away with a small knife will eventually draw blood.

What’s more, the Pet Beasts of Elder Tie, Mu Qianqian, and Zhao Xiwei were no small knives; they posed a very real threat.

Thoroughly annoyed by the bombardment, the rhino-shaped Magical Beast suddenly opened its massive maw.

Elder Tie, having seen this before, bellowed a warning. "Fall back!"

Everyone had already seen the telltale signs of the Rhino Demon Beast preparing an attack. Coupled with Elder Tie’s warning, they retreated without a moment’s hesitation, not lingering for a second.

WHOOM!

The very instant they cleared the chasm, a crimson Energy Ball, even larger than the last—roughly fifteen meters in diameter—shot straight out at incredible speed.

The Energy Ball rocketed high into the sky, looking as if it would shatter the very clouds.

Such power, such speed... if the beast’s body hadn’t been trapped by the Unstable Rift, forcing it to fire in a single direction instead of aiming freely, then no Pet Beast present—with the possible exception of the Space Element Four-Winged Mantis—could have possibly withstood the attack.

As for the Beast Masters, that went without saying.
