On one side of the arena stood Lin Yi. Calm. Still. Unshaken. On the other side, the A-Rank Arcane Swordsman stepped forward. His name was Shen Ryu, and the moment he moved, a faint hum of spiritual energy gathered around him, not explosive like Tang Yue’s radiant force, but controlled and refined, like a blade kept perfectly sheathed until the moment it was needed.

His gaze met Lin Yi’s. "...So this is the man who defeated Tang Yue without taking a single step back." His voice was calm, yet carried clearly across the arena. The crowd quieted as Shen Ryu’s presence drew a different kind of attention.

He took another step forward, stopping at a measured distance. His hand remained on his sword, but he did not draw it. Instead, he bowed his head slightly. A warrior’s courtesy.

"Lin Yi." A pause. "...Your strength is worthy of respect." The words carried no flattery, only acknowledgment. "I, Shen Ryu... will not insult you with carelessness."

The crowd reacted immediately.

Lin Yi looked at him. For a moment, nothing changed. Then, "...Good." One word. But this time it carried a faint shift.

The instructor raised his hand. "Participants ready!" The arena held its breath. "Begin!"

Shen Ryu moved first. But unlike Tang Yue, there was no explosion of power, no overwhelming display. Just a single step, soft and controlled. Then he vanished, the ground beneath his feet cracking slightly as his speed spiked and his figure cut forward in a straight line, his sword finally leaving its sheath.

And for the first time in the tournament, Lin Yi did not remain completely still. He stepped once, then again, his blade moving more frequently now, intercepting each strike, his posture still composed but no longer entirely passive.

The two blades clashed again and again.

Shen Ryu’s eyes sharpened. "...So this is your strength." His voice came between strikes, steady despite the intensity. "...You truly are different." He stepped back suddenly, opening distance. The crowd stirred.

"He’s using it already?!"

Shen Ryu lowered his stance, his blade angled forward, his breathing controlled. "Arcane Blade Art — First Form." A faint pulse spread outward. "Silent Divide."

He moved. Faster than before. His figure blurred, then split. For a moment two images appeared. No, three, afterimages layering over one another as he closed the distance instantly, his blade cutting in a clean horizontal arc. Lin Yi’s eyes narrowed slightly.

He blocked. But the force behind it was different. Sharper, more precise, and it pushed him back half a step. The crowd gasped.

"He moved him!"

"He actually pushed Lin Yi back!"

Shen Ryu didn’t stop. His blade turned into a second arc, then a third, each strike carrying that same refined power, each one cleaner and faster than the last. Lin Yi responded, his blade meeting every strike, but this time with intent behind his movements. He stepped into the attacks, matched them, countered them. The clash intensified.

Sparks flashed with every collision. Shen Ryu’s expression remained focused, but his mind raced.

A faint breath escaped him. "...So this is your true stance." For the first time, a slight smile touched his lips. "...Good." His grip tightened. Then he surged forward again, faster and stronger, his blade descending with full intent.

Lin Yi moved. This time, he didn’t just block. He countered. A single step forward, a shift in angle, and the Celestial Lord Blade cut upward.

Their weapons collided, slid, and separated. In that brief opening, Lin Yi struck. A clean, direct, unavoidable strike. Shen Ryu’s eyes widened slightly. Too fast. He adjusted instinctively, turning his body and raising his blade to intercept, but it wasn’t enough.

The impact landed against his guard, the force driving him backward across the arena floor. His feet dragged, his body slid, and he stopped several meters away. Silence fell.

Shen Ryu stood there, breathing slightly heavier. Then he laughed softly. "...I see." He straightened, his blade lowering slightly. "...There is still a gap." Not bitterness, not frustration. Just clarity. He looked at Lin Yi again. "...But this was enough." He exhaled slowly, then sheathed his sword. The sound was soft and final.

"I concede."

The words rang clearly across the arena. A moment of silence, then the crowd erupted.

"He conceded?!"

"That fight... that was completely different from before..."

"He pushed Lin Yi back and still lost?"

The instructor raised his hand. "Winner — Lin Yi!"

Lin Yi stood still for a moment, then lowered his blade. Shen Ryu bowed again, deeper this time. "...It was an honor."

Lin Yi looked at him, then gave a slight nod. Nothing more. But it was enough. Shen Ryu turned and walked away with steady steps and a straight back, no regret, only acceptance.
