The moment Allen and I stepped inside, we were slapped by sharp, insulting words thrown in the air. The rest of the team was already there—except for Claude.

If it wasn’t for Terrius’s presence turning the room into the North Pole, I would think we entered the wrong room.

Because there was no way my dear, innocent, little Etienne was hurling insults at someone.

"You know what? I am so effing done with you! You selfish, inconsiderate piece of shit! Do you ever stop and think about anyone but your damn self?!"

Woah. Etienne’s livid. The reason? Probably the pink-haired twink leaning at the window, gawking at Etienne.

"I’ve wasted my time believing your every fucking lie, but damn you, you don’t deserve even just a second of it! You should try acting like a damned decent human being for once in your blasted life!"

That was my first time hearing him curse at someone. My eyes widened in shock. I gave Lexie a puzzled look, but the lady just shrugged her shoulders.

Before I could even take a proper step forward, Etienne strode past me and Allen, and then walked out of the room without another glance. Both of us followed his stomping figure disappeared into the corner.

"What happened?" Allen asked while stepping forward. "Who made him angry?"

Dude, Allen, are you blind? Look around and you might see someone suppressing a goofy grin despite getting cursed at, completely unguilty and unbothered by Etienne’s outburst. Truly a selfish bastard.

I hugged myself as I walked in and closed the door. The cold temperature was leaking outside, and people might wonder why it was cold on such a bright sunny morning.

I turned to Terrius when I noticed him watching. Then, slowly, the temperature increased. Then, he answered Allen.

"Noir."

Back to being the man of few words again, are we, vice-captain?

"What did you do?"

"Nothing." Noir shrugged.

Lexie rolled her eyes. "Don’t give us that bullshit. Etienne rarely gets angry. You can pull his hair ten times, and zero times he’ll shout or get upset at you. He will just gently scold you and make your thick head understand it’s wrong. But then, as soon as you entered, he saw red and yelled."

"What did you do?" I repeated, giving Noir that doubtful, accusing, annoying look. The corner of my lips turned upward when I noticed him get irked.

Noir did not answer, instead, he latched onto my arm and yanked me away to the corner. Then, he whispered in my ears, "When are you going to send me back to my world?"

His grip was tense and tight, like he would not ever let me go if I didn’t give him a concrete answer.

I pushed his face away because he was too close. Then, I whispered back, "I don’t know."

Wait, why am I whispering? People would think I was an accomplice! I was about to repeat my words louder this time, when Allen pulled me away from the twink.

Noir clicked his tongue. "Tsk, useless."

Lexie knocked on the table, gaining my attention. "So? Did he tell you what he did to Etienne?"

"No. He asked me when I’ll send him back to his world."

"Can you do that any time, Jade?" Allen asked, pulling me to a chair next to him.

"No. I told you, Noir, I can’t just do it like magic," I answered Allen, but my eyes were directed to Noir. "You came here through a vortex, so the only way out is through a vortex."

Noir groaned. Yeah, frustrating, isn’t it? How many vortices are there? Are we going to raid them all? Not to mention, we have to do it in secret.

Terrius, who was lounging on the couch, leaned forward, resting his elbows on his knees. "The more we participate in vortex raids, the higher the chances we can find Noir’s world."

His voice was calm, logical as always. He looked eager to find Noir’s world, though. He’s pissed off.

Lexie sprawled across the armrest of a chair and raised a brow at Noir. "What’s so urgent about going back anyway? You never really talk about your world. What? Did you leave a lover there? A wife, perhaps?"

"Or maybe a husband-to-be," I whispered.

Everyone shot their glances at me. I gulped. Then, before I could react, Noir was kicking me at the back. Thankfully, Allen was my knight, putting a shield behind me.

"Fuck you. I’m not going to marry that baldhead. Over my dead body!"

"You sound like a girl, Noir," Lexie teased.

"He looked like a girl, too," Terrius added.

Before long, the room was overturned.

I was sitting relaxedly in my chair when Noir tried to include me in their fight, so then, later on, only chairs were seen flying in the air because the three of them couldn’t use their powers in my presence anymore.

Once they were all exhausted, and the only chair untouched was mine and Allen’s, the fight died down.

Terrius, yeah, the most logical one, note my sarcasm, stood by the window. Lexie slumped on the floor, leaning on the wall. While Noir was lying on his back on the floor, looking at the ceiling.

An angel walked into the room since it became so quiet. Then, after a few deep breaths, Noir answered Lexie, this time, seriously.

"I have a sick mother. I need to go back for her."

My gaze flew to Noir. I wasn’t expecting that. Not only his lowered, solemn voice, but that news. "It’s not in the book," I quietly murmured.

Noir’s ears perked. He heard me, but he didn’t glance in my direction. "How does a story work? I mean, if you are the author, do you just drop the bomb in the first Chapters?"

"It’s like that if it’s a werewolf romance." Noir finally looked at me, although he was glaring. I cleared my throat. "So, is this the reason why Etienne was cursing you?"

"He really didn’t tell you?" Lexie chimed in. I frowned at her. She clearly did not believe what I said earlier. She just looked away, no ounce of regret at all. 𝑓𝘳𝘦𝑒𝑤𝑒𝘣𝘯ℴ𝘷𝘦𝓁.𝑐𝑜𝑚

Noir sighed. "If it’s him, he can cure her. I was...trying to collect bits of his healing magic using a magic stone. But then, he found out, thought I was only hanging out with him because of that."

Allen clicked his tongue. "Are you?"

Noir nodded. "Guilty."

"Let’s beat you up then," I suggested. Noir propped himself up. He gave me that look, challenging me to do it. I smirked. "Maybe after seeing you battered and bruised, Etienne will forgive you. And if you tell him the truth, who’s to say that kind and pure-hearted guy won’t volunteer to help you?"

Noir froze.

Allen stood up, cracking his fingers. "He’s mad because you resorted to such an evil way. Where did you find that magic stone that can suck and store a Seeker’s power? That’s widely known as illegal."

Lexie pushed herself up. "Yup. And it drains the Seeker’s energy without them knowing why. Is this the reason why Etienne’s healing power weakened before Jade came to us?"

"You’ve been doing it for that long?! You deserved to be beaten. Go, guys, I’ll video it for Etienne to watch!" I exclaimed as I escaped from the corner.
