Dom stood outside the Town Centre of Riverside, Lucius had departed in excitement to go and plant the carts of Peach Trees with the farmers. He had explained that as the Peach Trees were already fully grown, they could have a constant supply in the future. Dom decided to get a move on with his tasks as his time was slowly decreasing as they day went on.

"System, please show Town Centre stats." Dom asked.

Dom was impressed to see that his population had exceeded the need for the mission completion, he could tell that the advancement quests were slowly getting harder and harder, and he looked forward to using the additional Town Centre Upgrade Token that he had so he could potentially level it up twice, depending on the difficulty of the quest. Dom’s biggest excitement was the potential for the Civilian population to grow.

"Game Support, please upgrade the Town Centre!" Dom asked.

"That is a lot of choice!" Dom exclaimed, surprised that there wasn’t an instant upgrade like previously. "Please can you explain the options to me?"

[Trade - A Direction for Players who want to grow a Kingdom that is a Trade hegemon in World Conquest Online. Increases the negotiating power with merchants. It will also increase the daily spawns from a more mercantile background.]

"A good option." Dom said as he read the information, "It would be great for wealth and help us bring in some strong allies in the future. What about the next one?"

"I’m not sure I want religious fanaticism within Riverside." Dom said to himself, "This could quite easily spiral out of control if I select a religion that has some clear enemy religions. I also don’t want to set something up that could eventually take control from me. I think I may skip this one."

[Expansionist - For Players that want to grow the area of control of their Kingdom’s quickly. Increases the percentage of daily spawns that are from expansion related industries, including Miners, Builders, Lumberjacks and craftsmen who are related to building and land clearance.]

"A really handy choice." Dom thought, "This could have a huge impact on our building construction."

[Domination - For Players that want to dominate the land and the people. Increases the opportunity for Slavery related buildings to be given from Cubes and Schematics. Increases the percentage of daily spawns where people have a positive outlook towards slavery.]

"This is one that I don’t believe aligns with my goals." Dom mumbled, "I can easily rule this one out."

[Diplomatic - A Direction for Players who want to become a powerful partner, rather than the leader. Increases the opportunity for Diplomatic related buildings being given from Cubes and Schematics. Increases Riverside’s local prestige.]

"I don’t understand how this one would work." Dom stated, "I’ll probably skip for now."

[Entertainment - For Players that want to have lots of fun. Increases the opportunity for Entertainment related buildings being given from Cubes and Schematics. Increases the percentage of daily spawns that are from an entertainment background.]

"This one is tempting!" Dom accepted, "It would be good to make Riverside more fun for it’s inhabitants."

[Educational - A Place for growth. Increases the opportunity for Educational related buildings being given from Cubes and Schematics. Increases the percentage of daily spawns that are from an educational or academic background.]

"This one would be great in the future when the Riverside has grown to a much larger state." Dom thought, "If I could have centre’s of study, we could potentially research new technologies and improve the strength of Riverside."

[Militaristic - For Players that want to prioritise their military growth. Increases the opportunity for Military related buildings being given from Cubes and Schematics. Increases the percentage of daily spawns that have some form of military training and a positive outlook on warfare.]

"We already seem to get a large percentage of Military buildings, but I really do need to think about this as a viable choice!" Dom stated, before asking. "Will these options be available again in the future, or will the list be refreshed if a further upgrade opportunity becomes available?"

"When will I next get a choice on the direction?" Dom asked.

"Thank you." Dom said, before going quiet to think through his choices. "Trade, Expansion, Entertainment and Militaristic are the most appealing choices. Trade and Entertainment are secondary in importance though to growing Riverside and also growing our Military. I think it is key that I listen to Shang Yang for once and choose something like Expansion."

The ground shook again as the Town Centre went through some changes, It shook and became almost like a mirage in front of Dom’s eyes, before appearing again. When it became clear to see again, Dom noticed that the one key change was that the wooden material that the Town Centre was made from had now turned to white stone, the same white stone as the Inner Wall and the Bank.

The front where Dom was stood also underwent some changes, as several exotic plants and trees appeared all around the mosaic floor and the pond, creating a stunning courtyard entrance to the Town Centre. Dom felt that this had suddenly become the most stunning part of Riverside and he felt very relaxed standing in it. The trees looked similar to tall palm trees, where as the flowers that covered the bottom were a mixture of colours with purples, blues and pinks.

Dom was impressed by the new Town Centre, it’s stone cover made it seem much safer as a stronghold if the Inner Wall failed, and he was excited to inspect any changes inside, first however he needed to check its stats.

"I need to do eight upgrades and over double the population!" Dom exclaimed, realising that upgrading the Town Centre going forwards was going to be much slower.

Dom had expected this, and was looking forward to seeing his rewards, but first he decided he was going to skip these Advancement Quests and use his Silver Token to upgrade the Town Centre directly, knowing that in the future he would most likely start building some subsidiaries and wouldn’t get many chances to do this again.

There was another shake as the Town Centre expanded in length, Dom could see it moving backwards in the distance slightly and was grateful nothing had been built directly behind it. The height hadn’t changed but Dom could see that the whole building had gotten longer and wider. The left side where the Map Room had been absorbed in the growth, as had the Office’s, creating a much more imposing building in front of him.

The Courtyard also grew, with the mosaic floor now having stone pathways that came from it and directed themselves around the Town Centre, with a small flower bed that ran in line with it. Dom felt it looked much more majestic and knew that Meritamen would be impressed.

"A City?" Dom exclaimed, looking at the huge Town Centre in front of him that stood out by being surrounded by many much smaller buildings. He realised that he may have upgraded his Town Centre a bit to fast, but hopefully with the increase in Daily Spawns and the Expansionist perk they could keep up with the growth. "I can’t believe Riverside has become a City already! System show stats."

"Those quests are impossible!" Dom exclaimed. "I think we have a lot of work to do."
