The cold, inky expanse of the ocean floor stretched endlessly around them, a silence so deep it felt as though the water itself held its breath. Gin’s neon eyes glowed faintly in the dark water, casting an eerie light over the space. His brown hair, tangled by the weight of the sea, shifted like strands of kelp in the gentle current. Beneath him, Saira lay on the sandy seabed, her body still recovering from their recent fight. Her brown eyes were wide, her breath shallow, the weight of the water pressing against her chest as she fought to steady her pulse.
The two were motionless, surrounded by nothing but the shifting shadows of the ocean’s depths. The battle had left them exhausted, but the stillness of the deep offered no peace - only an unnatural, haunting quiet that made Saira’s senses tingle. She could feel Gin’s hand on her waist, his grip tighter than necessary, but she understood. He was alert, scanning the water around them, his focus sharp despite the weariness in his posture.
Then, it came. At first, it was just a faint shift in the current, so subtle that it could have been mistaken for a passing fish or a drifting tide. But it didn’t feel like that. It wasn’t natural.
Gin’s grip on her tightened even more, and his neon eyes flickered in response to the change. Saira’s heartbeat quickened. She could feel it too, a sensation that sent a chill creeping through her limbs, a deep, low hum vibrating through the water. The ocean itself seemed to sigh, as though aware of the immense, unseen presence just beyond their reach.
A deep, resonating pressure. Not an attack, not yet, but something vast and ancient moving in the dark below them. Saira felt her skin prickle as the water grew heavier, the currents growing more erratic, almost alive. Her breath caught in her throat. There was no way to describe it, only to feel it. Something massive, something beyond comprehension, moving closer. Its presence wasn’t something they could see—it was something they could feel in their bones, in the very water surrounding them.
Saira glanced up at Gin, her voice trembling, barely a whisper against the water’s current. "Gin... do you feel that?"
Gin didn’t answer immediately. His eyes were scanning the blackness, their bright neon glow like twin beacons in the depths. His face, usually calm and unreadable, was now pale, the faintest trace of fear lining his features. He had never felt anything like this before. The water itself seemed to pulse with the creature’s presence, as if it were alive, as if the ocean itself was holding its breath.
"We have to leave," Gin’s voice was barely audible, but the urgency in it was unmistakable.
Saira’s pulse hammered in her ears as she forced herself to focus. "What is it?" Her mind raced, but she already knew the answer. Whatever this creature was, it was beyond their abilities to fight. Even together, their mastery of the water element would be useless against something so enormous, so ancient.
The ground beneath them seemed to tremble, a faint vibration that spread through the sand and into their very bones. The creature was near—too near. Saira could feel the weight of its presence pressing down on her chest, suffocating her with the overwhelming sense that it was watching, waiting for them to make a move.
Gin’s eyes flickered with resolve. "There’s no time to fight. We need to get to the surface. Now."
Without another word, he pulled her into his arms, lifting them both off the ocean floor with a surge with water control. The currents seemed to fight them, as though the sea itself was reluctant to let them leave. But Gin pushed forward, his neon eyes glowing brighter as they cut through the water, moving quickly toward the surface.
Saira’s heart raced in her chest as she followed his lead, her own water element enhancing her movements as they surged upwards, away from the shadow that loomed in the deep. She could still feel it, that presence like a great, unseen weight pressing down from below, something so massive and powerful that even the ocean seemed to bend beneath it.
The pressure in the water intensified, and she could feel the currents pushing against them, but Gin’s determination was unshakable. His eyes were locked on the surface, on the promise of the island.
But even as they ascended, Saira couldn’t shake the feeling that the creature was following them, lurking just below, waiting to strike. They were moving fast, but she knew it wouldn’t be enough. The ocean was vast, and whatever it was, it had an unfathomable size. No matter how quickly they swam, they couldn’t escape the weight of its presence.
And still, Gin didn’t falter. The water around them swirled violently, the only sign of their struggle against the ocean’s tightening grip. As they shot upward, toward the glimmer of light above, Saira’s mind raced. ’Could we make it? Will we even reach the surface before whatever hunted them below made its move?’
The fear in her chest twisted as they broke through the water’s surface, the cool air rushing to meet them, but she didn’t dare look back, only rested her face glued to Gin’ chest.
The island loomed ahead, not far, a fragile promise of safety. But the ocean below was still waiting and the creature, whatever it was, had not yet revealed itself. It was too vast, too monstrous to be seen clearly, but they could feel it in every inch of their being.
And they hoped deep down, that the chase was only below the ocean.
Wasting no time Gin while in motion of flying, adjusted his direction to land at the coast of the island.
But on coast line stood Lucy, Alice, Xingning and the monkey.
"A monkey?"
Listening gin suddenly muttering, Saira moved her head from his chest and looked towards island. Immediately she looked upward at Gin. "Don’t tell them what you saw." While still in air, falling toward coast.
"Oh!" Gin also now think light headed, not feeling any threat. "You mean your power transformation to young se.." Before he could let out another word Saira covered his mouth and back at approaching coast just at few tens of meter distance.
Gin could see slight panic for a moment on her face just as she looked at coast.
