Lilith suddenly stands up on my bed and instantly I feel an invisible arrow pierce straight through my heart as she climbs over it, but I say nothing as she moves toward the window—then suddenly turns around.

Lilith simply flashes me a smile before jumping out the window, her wings unfurling from her back as she takes off into the air.
