Ruby didn’t know what went wrong.

She saw the horrified expressions on the Spanish people’s faces and looked at Tom in confusion. The smile on his face slowly vanished when he realized something was wrong.

He was staring at Sienna, who was watching Ruby with sheer innocence.

Ruby pushed back her chair as she shot to her feet. She badly needed this contract. Her career depended on its thirty percent share.

No. She wouldn’t give up.

"Lo siento," She said I’m sorry.

But after that, she started saying, "You assholes. My husband might be a jerk, but if you give this contract to me... then I assure you... I’ll offer myself and let you all fu*ck me."

The Spanish people rose to their feet, looking completely thrown off.

"Excuse me, miss," A man raised his hand to stop Ruby, "Please leave the room."

Ruby swallowed hard and started shaking her head. She was sensible enough to speak English this time, "Wh...why... I haven’t even told you about our offer..."

Tom also stood up, "Sir... ma’am," He addressed them respectfully, "Please ignore her. I was told that she knows Spanish."

He tried to ignore the sweat that trickled down his temple. Ruby messed up everything. And for some reason, he had an inkling that Sienna had a hand in it.

"Mr. Thomas Blackwell," The Spanish woman whose name was Catalina started shaking her head, "I’m sorry, but you need to leave now. You didn’t do your homework well. Being a boss, you should know about your staff. How will you handle such a big project if you can’t handle your own affairs? I’m sorry, but we only want competitive people."

Tom’s face was getting redder with each passing moment. He shot a murderous gaze at Sienna, whose face was now buried in her folder.

He was now sure that she had a hand in this. Ruby’s next words confirmed it.

"Please. I’m sorry," She cried, "I learned it from Sienna Mason," She pointed her finger at her, "She was the one who taught me Spanish."

This time, Hunter’s face snapped in his wife’s direction, but Sienna wasn’t in the mood to pay attention to anyone.

A few guards walked inside and headed to Ruby, "Miss. We’re ordered to usher you outside."

"No need," Tom said loudly, loosening his tie. He shot Sienna a look that said, I won’t spare you, bitch. This isn’t over.

When Sienna came out of the conference room, the first thing she did was to spin around and throw herself on Hunter.

He was not ready for this affection and was taken by surprise. She even lifted herself on her toes and kissed his cheek.

"Oh, thank you, Hunter. We did it," She spoke in the crook of his neck, hugging him tightly. This was the first time she didn’t hold back, as if not caring who was watching.

Holding her shoulders gently, Hunter pushed her a little to look at her face.

Such a beautiful and innocent face yet ...

He couldn’t think any further and kissed her forehead, "It was your hard work, sugar. Congratulations."

In her happiness, the gesture slipped past her unnoticed.

Sienna’s hands were still gripping his sleeves. For a moment, she forgot everything.

The tension.

The contract she had just gotten.

Ruby.

Tom.

Her smile got a little shaky as she wiped the corners of her eyes.

"Hey!" Hunter slowly cupped her cheeks, "You are a winner. Don’t cry." He winced internally for being this gentle.

"I know..." a broken laugh escaped her as one more tear glided down her cheek, "I think we should celebrate."

He wiped it softly, "And I know the perfect place for it," Before she could say anything, he softly placed his index finger on her lips, "Shh. How about Joe’s?"

Above his finger, her green eyes rolled up in fake annoyance.

It was a yes.

She waited at the table while Hunter brought a tray and placed it in front of her, "Here you go, ma’am."

She attacked the food without any further invitation, not bothering to include him. 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝕨𝕖𝗯𝚗𝚘𝕧𝕖𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝕞

He watched her with interest as she dipped her croissant in Joe’s special caramel sauce, "They make the best sauces here. Wow!"

This time, when Hunter saw caramel smudged on her chin, he didn’t hold back, "Un hun," He wiped it off her. His finger stayed there longer than necessary.

Sienna stilled for a moment. The touch was enough to burn her. Or maybe she was getting horny with each passing day.

Good God!

Was she imagining it, or was he really staring at her from behind those dark shades?

She cleared her throat and picked up her coffee cup, not realizing that she had smudged caramel sauce again near her lower lip.

She saw his hand placed on the table, curling slightly as if he was trying to control something.

That day, she saw his lips curve into a faint, dangerous smirk just for a moment. She was so used to seeing his gentle side that this felt wrong.

"I need to suck it," He whispered with extreme seriousness on his face.

"Excuse me..." She froze, gulping down her saliva, "What..."

For a few seconds, he kept looking at her. Sienna felt like he was watching her lips. Unconsciously, she swiped her tongue over it.

"The caramel," He cleared his throat, "Off this bun," He pointed at the plate of caramel-glazed buns.

Sienna let out a fake laugh that sounded empty and forced.

Something was really off. Hunter picked up the bun and, true to his word, started sucking it.

Sienna had drawn her thighs together, trying hard not to imagine anything dirty.

She remained too busy scolding herself and missed the amusement on Hunter’s face, who never enjoyed a caramel-glazed bun in his life.

To hide his smile, he quickly raised his coffee cup and glued it to his lips.
