A cropped video accused him of cheating before he entered the review room with dried blood on his sleeve.
The chamber smelled of hot projector plastic, stale coffee, and the sharp alcohol Amara had used on his cut.
Across the main screen, Ryan glanced at his wrapped wrist before calling Northstar’s last formation.
A red circle followed the movement, growing until it covered the dressing and half his hand.
The clip slowed until one second occupied ten, making an ordinary glance resemble a coded transmission.
Cup director Oksana Koval placed both hands on the black review table and said, "Apex alleges unauthorized electronic signaling."
Her iron-gray braid lay over one shoulder, while rectangular lenses enlarged eyes that had stopped caring about anyone’s public brand.
Luca sat opposite Northstar in a clean uniform with one silver cuff scratched from the final exchange.
Bianca, Darius, and Emil remained behind him beneath the recording light.
"His wrist produced visible gold interference," he said while the cropped frame paused on Ryan’s bandage, "then Northstar changed formation without a verbal cue."
Mika placed her phone face down before leaning toward the table.
"The cue is audible in your own clip."
"The words do not explain how he predicted our private finish."
Ryan looked at the screen where the red circle covered half his forearm.
Guard had stayed unavailable during the final exchange, while Spark Step left gold at his boots rather than his wrist.
The accusation was wrong about the mechanism, yet public certainty could still reach the private truth from an unlucky direction.
’Do not defend the impossible part,’ he thought as Oksana enlarged the bandage, ’defend what every camera can prove.’
"What device are you alleging?" he asked.
Luca opened one hand toward the screen and replied, "A receiver beneath the medical wrap, linked to an off-floor analyst."
Amara’s chair scraped backward.
Her pain-sink bracer showed one red chamber and another one-third full as she held her medical log toward the officials.
"I applied that wrap after his forearm was cut in round two," she said, each word gaining precision, "the sealed dressing remained visible from placement onward."
Oksana accepted the log without looking away from Luca, then passed it to the evidence officer.
"Apex claims the device entered during treatment."
Nobody moved.
Amara’s mouth became a straight line while her fingers released the tablet too carefully.
"Then Apex is accusing a licensed physician on recorded medical ground."
"We are requesting review," Luca said as his public expression returned, "a credible team welcomes verification."
Mika began an eye roll, then stopped when Ryan touched one finger against the table.
He recognized the phrase from Chapter Eleven, polished enough to make suspicion look responsible.
"Show the source file," he said while keeping both hands visible on the table.
An evidence officer opened the submission details, projecting every export field beside the disputed clip.
The clip contained nine seconds, exported from camera nineteen after the result posted.
No footage existed before the wrist glance, leaving the submission without any chain of visible events.
Jun raised his own tablet while route lights pulsed beneath both boots.
"Camera nineteen was my shoulder unit," he said as his thumb hovered above the raw-media vault, "Apex submitted a copy with my watermark removed."
Emil’s focus shifted from the tablet to Luca while his sensor rig disappeared beneath the table.
Oksana extended one hand and said, "Original file, hash history, complete recording."
"Complete means thirty-eight minutes."
"I bill this hearing by the hour."
Jun connected his archive.
The screen changed from nine suspicious seconds to a continuous corridor recording that began before either team reached the arena.
His camera pointed downward at first, capturing Ryan’s scuffed shoes beside the staging rail while fans shouted about the new shirts.
{originalstan: Those shoes are now legal evidence}
Oksana glanced toward the public-feed monitor where comments had begun arriving.
"Disable overlays," she said while one aide removed the stream chat.
Jun scrubbed to twelve minutes before the horn, exposing Northstar beside a locked arena door under flat service lights.
Ryan stood near the yellow boundary while Mika checked her regulator strap, with Nia’s shield grounded beside them.
Amara spoke to a Cup medic beyond the microphone as Apex entered from behind.
On the raw footage, Emil looked at Luca before unspooling his capture wire across the corridor floor.
Darius placed one boot against a loaded equipment cart while Bianca flexed both mana blades inside the forbidden staging space.
Ryan remembered the cart striking his leg, which had felt like careless staging pressure at the time.
The camera showed Darius kick the loaded trolley across the yellow boundary as Emil’s tether tightened behind Ryan’s ankles.
Bianca opened one blade where his body would fall if the wire pulled his ankles together.
Nia caught the cart with her shield while Mika seized Ryan’s jacket before the wire could pull both feet away.
The blade missed his face by eleven centimeters, close enough for its heat to distort the camera image.
The corridor audio carried Luca’s voice after the failed collision.
"Save it for the floor," he said while looking at Bianca, "we need him active."
No apology followed, leaving the room silent around the projector’s low electrical hum.
The lie held.
Oksana turned from the screen and asked, "Apex described that incident as accidental congestion."
Luca kept his eyes on the frozen frame while the scratch beside his cuff whitened beneath his grip.
"It was a warmup misunderstanding."
Nia placed one armored hand on the table and said, "Your barrier specialist kicked a loaded cart."
"Darius?"
The broad hunter looked toward the nearest recording light before answering.
"I was clearing the lane."
Jun enlarged the lower corner.
A red warning sign read **Do not move loaded carts while hunters occupy the boundary**.
The director capped her pen.
"Continue the file."
Raw footage showed Ryan inspect the capture wire after Apex left.
He photographed its clasp because damage had exposed a manufacturer stamp, then returned it to a Cup marshal.
The same clasp appeared on Emil’s wrist rig during the match.
Jun advanced through the full semifinal, allowing every Northstar command to play without edits or commentary.
Every Northstar command remained audible.
Ryan’s final read began with Luca touching his cuff, followed by the same finishing formation from three public sponsor reels playing in the media archive.
The supposed receiver never appeared beneath Amara’s transparent dressing, which remained sealed during every visible frame.
At the final wrist glance, Ryan was looking at the blood soaking through its edge.
Oksana paused on the complete frame while one judge enlarged Amara’s pointing hand at the margin.
The crop had removed Amara at the border of the image, where she pointed toward his reopened cut.
"Your submission excluded the physician giving a visible medical signal," the director said.
Luca’s expression lost every prepared layer as the omitted physician remained visible beside his edited accusation.
He flattened one palm against the table and said, "Our editor focused on the contested movement."
"Your editor also removed the attack before the match."
His uninjured cuff shifted beneath tightening fingers as he said, "That event is unrelated to signaling."
"It establishes why Mr. Keller watched Apex hands before every formation change."
Ryan did not look toward Luca, since the six complete screens deserved more attention than another prepared expression.
He had spent years waiting for officials to say evidence was incomplete, context unavailable, or powerful people entitled to interpretation.
This time the complete file sat on six screens while the person who cut it had to remain in the room.
Oksana turned toward the three Cup judges while each green decision panel activated beneath their hands.
Each judge pressed the green panel before the screen rejected signaling allegations, then confirmed evidence manipulation and a pre-match safety breach.
The public-feed wall restored itself.
{fullclipplease: He brought thirty-eight minutes to a nine-second lie}
Jun looked at the comment, then made himself face the review table instead of the growing numbers.
Oksana read from the final ruling while the rejected allegation remained projected behind Luca’s chair.
"Northstar retains the semifinal victory, while Apex receives a competitive-conduct strike and forfeits its review bond."
Mika’s public smile switched on slowly, beginning at her mouth before calculated warmth reached the cameras.
"I believe the phrase is credible teams welcome verification."
Luca looked at her without finding an answer that could survive the replay.
The director continued, "The Bronze Cup result stands, with Northstar Guild confirmed as champion."
Northstar had won.
Cheers struck the review-room walls from the arena outside, vibrating through the coffee cups left beside the projector.
Somebody had opened the corridor door, letting the chant enter without a filter.
"North-star! North-star!"
Ryan stayed seated until Amara touched the back of his chair.
"Medical care ended six minutes ago," she said while checking the dressing, "you may pretend the room is moving because of emotion now."
"I was blaming blood loss."
"One shallow cut does not carry that much personality."
Nia lifted Jun from his chair by the back of his jacket before he could remain hidden behind the tablet.
"Your footage won," she said while placing him on his feet.
The scout pressed both lips together, trying to stop a smile that escaped anyway.
"Technically, their footage lost."
"Take the compliment before I revise it."
Cup staff opened the route from the review chamber to the main arena.
The crowd had filled every standing rail, many wearing hot-pink shirts built from Ryan’s embarrassing caption.
Northstar’s crest occupied the central screen where Apex silver had dominated the opening ceremony.
Luca followed them into the light after a media officer whispered that absence would be treated as refusing the ruling.
He crossed the arena under replayed footage of the staging attack.
Bianca walked three steps behind him, no longer matching his camera line, while Darius kept both hands away from equipment carts.
Emil removed the silver sensor rig from his wrist, then placed it inside his equipment bag without meeting Luca’s eyes.
Mika noticed the team spacing and angled her face toward the nearest lens.
"That brand separation happened quickly."
"Six seconds," Jun replied while checking the live edit, "possibly a Cup record."
At center floor, Oksana waited beside a bronze trophy shaped like an open gate.
The arena announcer raised one hand while Northstar’s crest expanded across every screen above the central floor.
"Bronze Cup champions, Northstar Guild!"
The crowd answered with Northstar’s name, loud enough to rattle the repaired buckles on Nia’s shield.
Ryan looked toward the Northstar section, where Priya stood beside Leire in an Original Mika Stan shirt beneath her official coat.
She saw him notice.
For once, she did not look away, holding his attention until the standing rail passed between them.
The trophy touched Mika’s waiting hands before she redirected half its weight toward Nia.
Nia caught it, then forced Jun to take the narrow end.
Ryan reached last.
His personal balance still held no trophy-sized miracle, his shoes remained damaged, while the cut beneath his dressing had started stinging again.
None of it made the bronze feel smaller while four Northstar reflections moved across its polished curve.
Oksana lifted the champion microphone.
Before she could begin the award statement, every arena light turned sideways.
White brightness stretched across the district windows as if gravity had changed direction outside.
The trophy vibrated between four sets of hands as a low pressure wave crossed the transparent roof.
Spark Sense opened without Ryan calling it, placing gold fractures across every load-bearing seam in sight.
Gold fault lines covered the arena wall, crossed the spectator levels, then continued beyond the building into three city blocks.
The Cup sirens started one beat late, allowing the first falling roof panel to move before any evacuation order.
Through the transparent roof, the afternoon sky tore open from east to west.
A real gate unfolded sideways above the district while the trophy ceremony remained beneath it.
