Helen kept her gaze averted.

Mirian let her go.

Then she sighed.

"There’s no point in arguing with you... even so, I suppose I don’t mind being the second wife."

At that very moment, out of all of them, the ones who seemed the least calm were Irina and Beatrice. It almost seemed as if their minds were elsewhere. They were completely red in the face.

"What the hell... we have so many problems, and yet we’re deciding who gets to marry me first? Aren’t you all acting way too calm?" Ryan suddenly spoke up, his expression showing annoyance as he maintained his scowl.

"But Ryan..." Helen commented.

"I’m not angry, don’t worry. It’s just that you’re behaving as if you’ve forgotten the problems we’re facing. Right now, dealing with those should be our priority."

He approached the old man and Kenia.

"And you two were the ones who started all of this, weren’t you? I never agreed to be the King. We said we’d talk about it when I returned."

Ryan placed his hand behind his neck.

"Ah, you know what, forget it. I will be the King. So, my first order: we will have an urgent meeting. There is a lot to discuss. And someone, bring the alchemist as well."

"Yes, so be it, Your Majesty."

Ryan looked at one of the assembled soldiers.

"You, gather all the elves you can. There are some massive trenches in the forest. Toss the bodies of the dead in there, but first, check for any relics or rare weapons they might have. Then burn the bodies and seal those holes."

It seemed that Ryan was the only one aware of all the problems they had, or perhaps they were relying far too much on him.

But at least he had made a decision now.

Someone was sent to find the alchemist, and the soldiers headed for the forest.
