"They are filtering every single person who crosses those doors. A group of unknown outsiders will be rejected instantly."

"Yeah, and to think I was excited by the idea of seeing what they would be selling in there," Karol commented, crossing her arms and furrowing her brow with evident disappointment.

Ryan observed the flow of entry from the corner of his eye, analyzing the situation.

’They are controlling the capacity to maintain the exclusivity of the auction, that is obvious,’ Ryan thought, evaluating the equipment of the few people who managed to get through.

’But not everyone entering is wearing silks or gold crowns. I’ve seen a couple of swordsmen pass by with combat-worn armor. If they can enter, it means noble status is not the only valid requirement.’

"Maybe we should go try it anyway. They might let us in simply for being adventurers," Ryan said, turning toward the girls.

Karol thought about it for a second, looking up.
