All the confidence and arrogance on her pale face disappeared in a fraction of a second. She became completely rigid in her position, almost as if she had just seen a ghost standing at the entrance.

"Shit... I forgot about it completely..." She murmured to herself in a whisper loaded with genuine panic.

She brought a hand to her forehead, opening her eyes wide at a sudden thought.

"I think anyone passing by outside the tower would hear you..." He affirmed with total calmness.

The surroundings opened up into a wide corridor of well-polished blocks that connected the different sections.

Ophelia looked everywhere in an erratic manner, as if trying to search for someone hiding among the walls. But she didn’t see anyone throughout the entire extension of the crafted white stone corridor.

Ryan also searched with his gaze, trying to see what she was looking for with such insistence, but he didn’t notice anything strange in the perimeter either.

"What is wrong with you now? You are acting strange." Ryan asked, looking at her with a furrowed brow due to her erratic behavior.

"Shhhh," Ophelia answered him quickly, placing a finger over her lips to silence him abruptly.

And she pulled him again forcefully, but this time leading him to the upper part of the tower; they climbed the spiral staircase.

The sound of their boots echoed loudly on the steps as they ascended toward the upper levels of the tower.

The top floor was like a spacious hall, with a couple of dark wooden pieces of furniture well distributed throughout the space. The white floor, remarkably clean, reflected the scarce light that entered through the large windows of the area.

At the far end, a heavy door could be seen that led to the outside of the tower.

She advanced with Ryan in tow, pushing the wood with her shoulder to make her way to the exterior. And upon stepping out through that door, the surroundings were like a sort of white stone balcony.

There she was, leaning against the wall of that balcony, the silhouette of a young demoness.

She had short green hair, and a pair of long horns that protruded pronouncedly from her forehead. She was completely curled up in a corner of the balcony, with her arms pressing against her ears with desperate force, and trembling violently.

"I knew it! Roxy, you were still here!" Ophelia grumbled, planting herself right in front of her with her arms crossed over the shirt.

She, the girl they had just called by the name of Roxy, snapped her head up upon hearing the voice of her sovereign.

Her face was drenched in tears and her eyes were wide open.

"My Lady Ophelia, you know I am the guardian of the tower, I must be here, but I swear I didn’t hear anything! I didn’t hear anything at all, absolutely nothing!" She screamed, trying to justify herself in a hurried manner.

The young demoness pressed her back against the stone railing, fearing for her life in the face of the imposing presence of the two intruders.
