I Own the Evolution Domain

Novus pushes his Sensory Expansion beyond the limits of what he can handle right now in an attempt to search for even a bit of safety on this dangerous island, his head feeling like it is swelling from all the information flooding in, giving him a severe headache that makes even just standing up feel unbearable.

Still, he just grits his teeth as he continues to walk forward, his pace hastening as he begins picking up signs of safety within this place, his attention being diverted to the lady in his arms every now and then, making sure that she is still safe and sound.

Her eyes are already closed, her lips parted as she heaves and wheezes through each heavy breath, her body twitching every now and then from the pain that no other person would ever want to experience.

Pain that no one else but the very young man holding her in his arms understands.

Hence, also the reason as to why he wants nothing more than to settle down and take care of her right now, as he is well aware that such injuries are detrimental not only to a person’s physical body but to their psyche as well.

"Novus..." struggling to let her voice out of her lips, Medea called, and for the first time since Novus intervened with her fight against the Beast Control Magic user, he spoke, in a way gentler tone than she expected he would.

"Shh... please rest for now, Medea." he said, leaning more on a command rather than a request, despite his words, yet even then, there’s an unmistakable tone of gentle concern in his voice, such a tone making the lady smile as she decides to just follow what he said.

Despite the kind of place they are currently in, moments pass in peace as if neither monsters nor beasts nor any other sentient beings in the infested island want to approach them at all, allowing Novus to carry her all the way to the safe place he previously spotted.

A tree towering over the already tall ones covering most of the island, its peak reaching over fifty meters, its wide span creating a shade that prevents any other tree from growing underneath it, creating a small clearing that forces every single individual approaching the tree to reveal themselves.

"Bear with it a little bit."

He declared as he shifts his way of lifting her up, carrying her with one arm as he frees his other one, causing her to feel warm as she sticks closer to his body, the young man not even bothered by the bloodied mess as he concerns himself more with making sure she recovers safely instead.

He leapt up, reaching quite a tall branch of one of the trees around before he took another leap once more, this time crossing more than half of the fifty-meter tree.

He clawed his hands towards the tough branch, feeling a bit of pain as his finger bones were cracked by the impact, but he held strong, paying attention to the lady he was currently carrying before taking a deep breath.

Mana swirls around his being, eventually settling around the arm and hand grasping the tall tree, allowing him to explode in vertical speed once more, bringing him to its crown where he can finally let her lie down and rest.

"How... caring~" as she was gently laid down sitting while he did something that made her curious, Medea couldn’t help but amusingly remark seeing him leaping down the tree and back up again, gathering leaves for reasons unknown to her until he laid his outer coat down the bunch of leaves.

Right now, he is making a makeshift bed for her to lie down on.

"I told you, right? Don’t talk too much, just rest." he reminded her as he lifted her again, laying her down on the makeshift bed as he checked the state she was currently in.

"Rest... won’t do anything... to me... at this... point... fufu~~" despite the stinging pain coursing through her entire body, Medea still finds it in herself to joke around with him, a faint, teasing smile on her face as she laughs, before eventually coughing quite severely, making Novus worry all the more.

"I... I’m badly hurt... Novus..." she added, those words escaping from her mouth, making her easygoing, playful façade that she barely kept up fall down as well, tears starting to form on the corner of her eyes.

What she said is true, and that is exactly why Novus himself worries all the more, the wound not that deep that it is lethal; however, the fact that it is deep enough to not heal properly becomes the real problem, as blood continues to leak out of her body without stopping.

’She’ll die from blood loss at this rate...’ the worry causes Novus to furrow his brows as he scrambles every last bit of mental prowess he has to try to think of any solution. Unnoticed to him, he is already clenching his jaw and gnashing his teeth in frustration and fear surfacing from deep inside him.

"Novus... you... thanks..."

Her worsened state becomes even more apparent as even her words become jumbled, the lack of blood seemingly affecting her more and more as her once healthy, rosy skin now gradually turns pale white, causing the pressure on Novus’ part to make sure she will be safe to increase even more.

"I... I’m a bit... scared..." she voiced, even until now refusing to completely acknowledge how much she fears it when it is her time to stand in front of death, her stubborn nature shining through even to this moment where her life is barely hanging by a thread.

"Don’t." Novus thought as he came to a decision even he himself never expected to do, determination flashing through his eyes as an idea popped into his mind.

A floating screen appears right in front of him, showing his entire treasury, his attention fully on one of the resources displayed on this screen.

’Don’t mess this up... start small.’ manifesting one F Tier Evolution Crystal on his hand, Novus thought to himself, intending to make the Medea absorb it to see the effect it would have on her.

"Open your mouth a bit."

It seems like there is no longer a need to question the trust between the two of them, as the words came out of him, she immediately followed suit, slightly opening her mouth as he gently lifted her head up so he could be sure that she won’t choke from the liquid the Evolution Crystal will turn itself into.

Then she felt it, a hard, stone candy-like substance entered her mouth, said substance surprisingly turned into a liquid as soon as it came into contact with her tongue, making her feel warm as it traveled down her throat, her body instinctively knowing that whatever substance Novus fed her, it would do nothing but good to her.

"It’ll be a bit painful at the start, but you will be fine."

Novus warned as he began using Sensory Expansion not to guard his surroundings but rather to check what the Evolution Energy is doing to Medea’s body, prepared to assist whenever she might need his help refining this power, completely different from mana.
