I Own the Evolution Domain

While the outer shell is completely impregnable to slashes and thrusts from cold weapons and completely immune to any impact basic magic can make, Amber Slimes’ insides are still surprisingly soft and vulnerable, and a punch, if hit correctly, will produce a shockwave that will be trapped by the tough outer shell, shaking up and completely messing its insides.

Toughness, near invulnerability, focused on the outside, without anything to support its insides. Its own strength becomes its own downfall.

Having spent quite some time hunting slimes, to be exact, Amber Slimes as those are the only things that he can find in the Evolution Domain so far, Novus thought of this, making him more and more efficient as he continues hunting these amber-hued slimes, using their own strength to form a way to counter them better, resulting in an easier time for him whenever he is fighting against them.

"Haha!! Great!!" finding himself in what others can only think of as a precarious situation, Novus laughs in excitement as his eyes sweep his surroundings, five Amber Slimes surrounding him from different directions, forcing him to focus harder than ever before, and that is even when he had already figured out how to easily deal with them.

Before this, it’s often only one, occasionally two to three Amber Slimes fighting simultaneously against him, yet at the slightest of misfortune, him fighting against a couple of Amber Slime while trying to hone the new method he had created for himself causes his mana to pull in another group of roaming Amber Slimes, forcing him into this situation where he can’t even find any opportunity to properly attack at all.

Despite having a clear lack of coordination between each of them, this group of Amber Slimes gives constant problems for the young man to care about. Each time he avoids an attack from one of them, he has to tank another from ones he just shoved away previously.

The worst part of it all is that if he gives up defense to search for a window to attack, he will be in for a lot of pain, as a number of them will jump on him and turn his body into a complete mess.

’It nearly happened once, I won’t be taking my chances’ he thought to himself as the event from a few moments before flashes in his mind, three Amber Slimes all using their talents as they charge towards his location colliding with each other, and if he’s even just half a second slower, it would’ve been his entire body that was turned into blood mist and meat paste, instead of just his entire left arm.

Having that memory surface again, his left arm couldn’t help but twitch despite already healing completely and recovering from the pain, causing him to falter a bit defending against another Amber Slime that just pounced towards him.

"Thanks for the chance" finally stopping that heavy momentum of being hit by a massive, fortified creature moving at an incredible speed, he smiles in reply as he pulled one of his hands back, mana within the atmosphere gathering all around, reinforcing not only his hand, but the entirety of his arm, unbeknownst to him, his unconscious desire to heal this damaged arm faster causing it to truly increase recovery, of course, at the expense of a certain resource.

With all the remaining Amber Slimes slightly far away from them, Novus finally sends an attack towards the one in front of him, his hand landing on the spherical body, a metallic ringing sound like bell being hit spreading across the grasslands, a sound that lasts only for a couple of seconds before it is abruptly stopped, as the medium from where it comes from explodes, slimy, slick substance exploding all around.

Not even concerned with the uncomfortable sensation from the substance covering almost his entire body, he proceeds to his next target, another Amber Slime relaxing its body, preparing to pounce towards him, was shut off before it can even attack as he also explodes towards its location, wrapping both his legs with mana and strengthening it to send himself faster than he ever could with just his body alone.

Of course, pushing oneself with one’s own legs with such incredible strength and power beyond the body’s limit will cause the legs, bearing the brunt force of such explosive movement, to be torn apart, proving how dangerous it is to fight in such a way without the assistance of the absurd regeneration granted by the True Immortal Blood.

The hand and arm damaged from the extreme output of the mana enhanced punch, the legs damaged from the explosive step that near instantaneously sent him towards his next target, all of them are healed at an accelerated rate due to the assistance of this ability he had awakened along with his talent, an accelerated regeneration that he had yet to realize as his mind is still preoccupied by the seriousness of the battle.

As if instinctually trying to save himself from having to recover his hand from the damage it will sustain from his mana-enhanced punch yet again, Novus raises his palm in the air, trying to do something that he had never done before.

Mana in the air dances with his call once more, but this time, it wasn’t inside his muscles and his bones; it wasn’t on his skin that it gathered around, rather, forming a ball just above his palm, a process way too familiar to him at this point.

And this familiarity, along with the high of the battle, made him do something that no mage of a sane mind will dare to do.

Without any preparation, without making sure that the spell in his hand is formed properly, the young man let it loose, swinging his arms and slamming the ball of fire formed on his palm downwards, smashing the Amber Slime beneath him with both violent force and searing heat that causes the gelatinous liquid to boil, bubbling sound coming out of its carcass as he effectively takes its life by evaporating more than half of its body.

"That works too, huh..." snapping out of his battle trance as he just realized what he had done, Novus mutters to himself, that borderline maniacal smile starting to creep up his face once again as it dawns upon him that he might not necessarily need to discard magic when fighting against the creatures of the Evolution Domain.

Knowing that it isn’t the right time to marvel at the process of using magic together with physical combat, he returns his whole attention to the battle once again, confidence brimming from deep inside him as the fight now enters a domain more familiar to him, from five Amber Slimes, only three remain now, a number that he already had experience fighting against before.

The fight continues, the Amber Slimes doing their best to suppress the rampaging opponent in front of him, and their opponent, the young man bearing the blessing and curse of being immortal, seemingly enjoying the fight as his combat prowess continues to grow through each exchange.
