I Only Level Up When I Seal My Enemies

Chapter 38: Immortal Undeads (2)

Riven’s expression darkened as he stared at the undead around them. He couldn’t believe what he just heard... how could these undead be immortal?

He had met the same undeads outside and they didn’t seem immortal to him... Sure, they did have a regeneration ability, but his subjects had killed a few undead.

So they weren’t immortal...

So what was so different about the undeads in the city?

Only Krylian could tell him. He shouted, his voice carrying a sense of urgency.

’What’s so different about undeads in the city compared to undeads outside? The undead outside aren’t immortal."

Krylian shouted back as he blocked the attack of an undead.

"I don’t know how to answer that! But every single undead here is immortal! Now help me get these undead out of here!"

Riven just nodded his head. His gaze lingered on Ayala and he asked.

"Can you buff me?"

Ayala didn’t respond immediately. She thought for a moment and then replied.

"I can buff you both for just 1 minute. I don’t have enough mana to increase the duration."

Only 1 minute... that wasn’t a lot but it was better than nothing. He just nodded his head in approval and said.

"Do it."

Ayala pointed one palm towards him and the other at Krylian. Her palms began to glow and a second later, his body also began to glow.

Riven felt power overflowing in his body. Then the system whispered into his ears.

(You have been buffed for 1 minute!)

Riven didn’t waste a second instead he lunged towards one of the undead in front of him. While he charged towards one of the armored undeads, he mentally issued a command to Devil Slayer.

"Attack the undeads but don’t kill them. Just get them out of the entrance."

In an instant, Devil Slayer lunged towards one of the undeads faster than his eyes could follow and slammed onto the body of one of the undeads.

The undead’s body was thrown a few meters backwards but the undead rose to its feet in an instant. The bandages wrapped around its body came undone and it charged towards Devil Slayer.

Devil Slayer ripped the bandages to shreds using its sharp claws and lunged towards the undead. This time the undead dodged its attacks by moving to his left then right and repeating the process.

It didn’t seem like Devil Slayer could take him down easily...

As he stared at the Devil Slayer’s battle, Krylian’s voice resounded from behind him.

"Hey kid! Look to your right!"

Before Riven could do anything, an armored undead lunged towards him from his right side, its sword pointed towards his heart.

He quickly moved his body to his right, the sword barely missing his heart by a few inches. He landed a punch across the chest of the undead.

But neither the undead moved an inch from the place where it was standing nor did the armor crack... Instead, pain exploded across his knuckles.

Riven stared at the surface of its armor. There was not a scratch even though he had just punched with all his might specially while he was in a buffed state.

The surface of its armor was just too hard... it was almost impossible to cause damage to it with his bare fists.

Worse, the undead thrusted his sword towards his chest so fast that following it with his eyes was difficult.

He didn’t dodge since the undead didn’t give him the time to do so. Instead, he grabbed the sword using his left hand tightly.

Blood flowed from his left hand, dripping down from his hands... one drop at a time. The sound of blood dripping echoed through his ears.

He thought to himself.

"Guess... I have no choice but to use mana manifestation."

Riven didn’t want to use mana manifestation to save mana but it seemed like he had no choice left.

So Riven established a mental image of a sword very quickly. Just a few seconds later, a long blue sword manifested in his palm.

Riven gripped the mana sword tightly and the system whispered into his ears.

(Your mana has dropped by 30!)

(Current Mana Reserve: 49)

Using that sword, he rained down a barrage of strikes onto the undead. The majority of the strikes were either blocked or dodged by the undead.

But a few strikes landed on its body. When it did, a small cut was formed on its body. Blue aura swept into that cut and that area got engulfed in a blue aura and became stiff.

Seeing this a thought crossed his mind.

"Wait... can I seal these immortal undeads?"

The same thing was happening to them as the Undeads outside the city... After a little bit of his mana entered the system of the undead. So that meant his powers were working on them...

If he could seal them away and make them his subjects then that would give him more strategic edge over the negotiations with Krylian.

So Riven continued exchanging blows with the undead in front of him. The Undead thrusted his sword towards his face... this time, he swung his sword from the side.

His sword collided with the undead’s sword with so much force that cracks formed on the surface of both swords... he sent mana to repair his sword.

Cracks on the surface of his mana sword disappeared like they didn’t exist in the first place while the cracks on the undead’s sword became larger.

He kept pushing harder until the sword of the undead finally snapped in two...

Seizing this opportunity, he drove his sword into the body of the undead. His mana sword only penetrated halfway through and then stopped.

Left with no choice, he pressed his sword harder with all his might. His sword sank deep into the flesh of the undead and started to dissolve into aura.

The blue aura traveled into its body before a brilliant blue light exploded from its body. When the light cleared, the undead was on its knees, its head facing his direction.

His lips curled upwards as he mumbled.

"So it works."

Then the system whispered into his ears.

(You have sealed an enemy!)

(You have gained a subject!)

(You have gained 5 sealed power!)
