Riven’s face darkened upon hearing his latest request... no not a request but a command.
He stared at Devil Slayer. He didn’t want to go inside without Devil Slayer, since it was the only thing that remained as his last way to defend himself from threats.
At least not until his mana replenished or his army of Subjects finally reached him.
However, the man probably won’t allow it, as he said they were in no condition to demand anything. So what should he do?
The man walked towards the entrance but before stepping inside. He turned around and asked.
"What are you waiting for? Come inside."
Riven didn’t respond, instead, he remained quiet and decided to do the only thing that he could do... He asked.
"Please allow me to take him inside me. What if some undead kills him while we are inside? I have tamed him with a lot of difficulty."
He hated requesting a member of the Supremacy Guild for something but he had no other choice. He didn’t want to be completely defenseless.
The man didn’t respond immediately. He put his hands on his cheek and thought for a moment. Then the man replied.
"Since you have asked so nicely. I will allow it after all if your pet goes rogue then I can easily kill it."
Riven didn’t say a word instead he just nodded his head slightly. The man was overconfident and arrogant just like all the members of the Supremacy Guild.
Although he had the right to be overconfident in front of weaklings like them... overconfidence destroys even the smartest and strongest person alive.
The man walked towards the entrance and said.
"Follow me."
He didn’t get off the devil slayer’s back, instead, he commanded it to walk inside the building. Devil Slayer obeyed and walked inside the building.
The moment he walked inside the damaged building, the room lay in near darkness, illuminated only by a faint shaft of light from the flame torches hanging on the walls that revealed vague outlines.
The room was no larger than a small garage in the real world. To his right, a narrow staircase ran along the edges of the wall.
Only a few people could probably walk on the staircase at the same time... it seems.
The man pointed towards the stairs and said.
"We need to go upstairs. As you can see, the staircase is very narrow so your pet will have to stay down here."
Riven frowned as he stared at the staircase. There was really no way for Devil Slayer to come with him. Even after requesting the man, parting from his subject looks inevitable.
He couldn’t help but think that allowing Devil Slayer inside the building was all a plan to give me a sense of choice.
When in reality he didn’t have any to begin with...
Riven cursed the man in his mind.
"Sneaky bastard..."
Well, what else was he expecting from a member of the Supremacy Guild? This is the nature of the three Great Guilds in general.
He sighed and mentally commanded Devil Slayer.
"Stay here. Be on your guard and be prepared to escape on a moment’s notice."
Afterwards, Riven and Ayala got off Devil Slayer’s back and walked towards the staircase without saying a word.
He glanced at Devil Slayer who was still standing and looking around. It was still on its guard just like he had told him. He was relieved.
Riven continued walking, when Riven was close enough, he began to climb the flight of stairs.
As they were climbing the staircase, Riven got rid of all his thoughts and focused on the connections between all his subjects. He wanted to know how far his army was.
Riven could feel that they were very close to him... probably only separated by a distance of a few kilometers. They would probably reach him in a day or two.
And when they did... he finally wouldn’t be as helpless as he was currently since his mana reserves would have also replenished by then.
Speaking of his mana reserves, he stared intensely at his mana reserves and he gritted his teeth in frustration.
(Mana Reserve: 95/320)
His mana reserves were replenishing but not at the rate that he wanted them to. At this rate, it would take more than a day for his mana reserve to become full again.
But there was nothing he could do so he continued climbing the staircase. As he did, Riven asked the man in front of him.
"So why did you save us? What is your motive for bringing us here?"
The man replied.
"To save you two."
Riven snorted.
"Yeah... I am not trusting the words of the members of the Supremacy Guild."
The man halted his steps, he turned around and stared at him with his ice-cold eyes. Then replied in a chilling voice.
"First of all, I am not a member of the Supremacy Guild."
Riven pointed towards his robe and said.
"Yeah... I don’t buy it. Only the members of the Supremacy Guild can use that symbol."
Krylian replied, his voice serious.
"I won’t lie, I was a member of the Supremacy Guild but I left it a few years ago."
Riven’s eyes widened in disbelief. He couldn’t believe that... the members of the other Great Guilds leaving them?
He could believe that but not the Supremacy Guild because they believed in bloodline purity. No one could join their guild.
Only the descendants of the founder of the guild became proud members of the guild and members leaving the Supremacy Guild?
Such news had never reached his ears until now.
Ayala, who was beside him, maintained eye contact with Krylian and said.
"Mister... you know that claiming to leave the Supremacy Guild sounds very absurd."
The man didn’t reply immediately. He thought for a moment and said.
"Whether you want to believe me or not. This is the truth."
Riven asked, his voice serious.
"How can I know that you are not lying?"
The man replied coldly.
"You ask a lot of questions for someone so injured but if you manage to return to the real world in the future then do a little bit of research on a person called Krylian of the Supremacy Guild and you will know."
Riven listened intently. So his name was Krylian. He noted that down mentally. Maybe he was telling the truth but why would he leave the guild?
Riven had no idea so he asked, his voice serious.
"Why did you leave such a powerful guild in the first place?"
Krylian’s face darkened. He replied in a raspy voice.
"You don’t have to know that. Stay within your limits."
