The bullets struck the Blood Light Shield, making a dull sound.

The squad leader’s expression changed drastically.

The bullets were useless.

The evil cultivator laughed maniacally. His movements were incredibly fast as he instantly charged into the crowd.

His fingers had turned a strange, bluish-black.

One of the guards didn’t even have time to draw his saber.

Five bloody gashes, deep enough to reveal bone, were clawed into his chest.

He was sent flying backward, his blood turning purplish-black before it even hit the ground.

"Aaargh!!"

A bloodcurdling scream rang out.

The defensive line was instantly torn open.

This evil cultivator was too fast, and his entire body was coated in a deadly poison.

A single scratch was enough to severely cripple a person’s combat strength.

"Everyone, get back!"

An angry roar came from the side.

Zhang Hao had arrived with several Sharp Sword Team Members.

He had already tossed aside his rifle, replacing it with an azure Alloy Battle Saber.

The Inner Qi of a Meridian Passage Realm Third Layer expert erupted from his body.

A visible layer of sharp light instantly coated the blade’s edge—it was his standard Skill, Blade Aura Possession!

Zhang Hao let out a low shout, wasting no motion.

The force made the webbing between his thumb and forefinger go numb, and he was sent staggering back three steps before he could regain his footing.

The evil cultivator, however, merely swayed on his feet.

The Blood Light Shield on his palm flickered violently but was completely unharmed.

"Heh heh, if that one-armed Lei Zhen were here, I might have to think twice."

The evil cultivator stared sinisterly at Zhang Hao, his scarlet eyes filled with contempt.

"You think a little whelp like you, who’s barely even reached the Meridian Passage Realm, can stop me?"

After speaking, he showed no interest in continuing the fight and abruptly pushed off the ground.

He shot up onto a nearby wall, intending to leap over it.

Once he was over that wall, the vast wilderness lay beyond. Catching him then would be nearly impossible.

"Stop him!"

Zhang Hao, both furious and desperate, raised his saber to give chase.

But two guards wounded by the blood poison were directly in his path, slowing him down by a fraction of a second.

Just as the evil cultivator was about to vault over the top of the wall, a dull boom suddenly echoed from the distant darkness.

BANG!

The sound wasn’t crisp; it was a muffled report that made one’s heart skip a beat.

No one saw a muzzle flash.

But all the Martial Artists present felt a spine-tinglingly sharp aura.

The evil cultivator was at the apex of his leap, his protective Blood Light pushed to its absolute limit.

He was at the peak of his jump, his momentum spent and his body momentarily suspended.

Before the thought could even finish, a spinning bullet had already arrived.

Although the shot missed his heart, the terrifying Spiral Force had shredded half of his lung and the meridians in his right arm as it passed through his body.

He struggled to get up, but the entire right side of his body was completely numb.

Gouts of black blood poured from his mouth, his eyes filled with terror and disbelief.

’How could a gun have this much power?’

’Is there some High Tier sniper hidden on the farm?’

The instant he hit the ground, grievously wounded, a stocky figure charged in from the side with a deafening roar.

The screams stopped abruptly.

The evil cultivator’s head rolled to the side. His shriveled body twitched twice, then went completely still.

The area fell deathly silent, with only the unending wail of the distant alarm echoing through the air.

Wang Defa, breathing heavily, sheathed his saber.

He first nudged the corpse with his foot to make sure it was dead before turning around.

He looked up at the water tower several hundred meters away.

His gaze held a trace of unconcealable shock.

The timing, angle, and power of that last shot were all unbelievably perfect.

If that shot hadn’t broken the evil cultivator’s defenses and grievously wounded him, even though he had arrived in time, he would have faced a bitter struggle to take him down.

He might have even let the man escape.

"Captain, is it over?"

Zhang Hao and his men gathered around. Looking at the massive hole in the corpse’s chest, the corner of his eye couldn’t help but twitch.

’The shape of this wound... it’s too familiar.’

’It’s identical to the hole in the Tier Two Alloy Plate that was pierced at the firing range this afternoon.’

Wang Defa stroked the stubble on his chin, his expression peculiar.

"That kid..."
