There was darkness before her mind. Always watching her from the shadows. She pleaded and begged for forgiveness. But the darkness was crude and beat down the plea.
It grabbed and ate until it was full.
The debt was reaching the highest. She wanted to flee. Away from the darkness. Away. Away.
Before she noticed, Luna found herself even deeper into the darkness. With no way to escape, she hid. She trained herself to be invisible.
That was the sum of her life. It was not an interesting story or a great one. Her story can be told by almost everyone in the underworld.
The green spirit nudged her from the side.
"Yes, great spirit." She turned her head and looked down. The spirit hovered around her and tried to communicate.
"I don’t understand." She said with confusion.
The spirit moved and started writing down on the ground but even that didn’t seem to get into her head. The spirit sighed in frustration.
Dealing with an idiot was hard.
But he must communicate because Eli wanted him to work with these humans. So he used a bit of his ability.
Grafting the earth and himself, he created the mold and imbued his energy into it. The vessel couldn’t contain too much of his power so he split apart into countless particles and hid in the spirit world, hoping that none would find his essences.
Suddenly, the eyes split open from the sky and looked down, bringing down the pressure with its gaze.
The pair of eyes stared. Its job was to observe.
Luna watched as the green spirit glowed with blinding light.
Soon, a beautiful man with green hair appeared from the light. His eyes were sharp and he stared at Luna with frustration etched in his face.
He grumbled and facepalmed.
"I am telling you to look at that." The green haired man said, pointing out into the forest. "There is a wave of strong energy surrounding the mountain."
"Huh!" Luna was stunned and didn’t know what to say or make sense of this situation. The green light just transformed into a man. "Who are you?"
She muttered despite knowing the answer.
"I am the earth spirit from Sir Eli. My name is Geon." Geon said with pride. He smiled naughty and remembered what he was talking about and immediately turned his head.
"No time to waste. Over there."
Luna nodded and followed the finger. She saw a blur of shadow moving toward her direction. She channeled mana into her eyes and created a soft spell, enhancing the vision.
Finally, she noticed the wave of beasts roaring, howling and marching toward. Their eyes were red as if they were being controlled by something.
"How?"
"Must be that worm." Geon clicked his tongue.
"Can’t you stop it." Luna said.
"Not in this form." Geon pointed at himself. 𝑓𝘳𝑒𝑒𝓌𝘦𝘣𝘯ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝑚
"Then, hurry up and change. Easier said than done, Luna. I am currently locked by the world."
"Don’t lie." Luna yelled, trembling in her hand. "I just saw you transformed."
Geon sighed. "Like I said, I can’t. There are eyes on me. One wrong step and I would be sent to the spirit world. Do you want that?"
He pointed at the beast’s wave with his chin.
"No." Luna said softly. "But there has to be a way."
"Did Silas say anything to you?" Geon asked. "You are tasked to observe, right? Did he say anything about that?"
"Ahh.. wait... wait. I wrote down a note." Luna said. Her mind turned into a mess under the stress. Silas often reminded her of that trait.
She couldn’t do much under the pressure. Like an uncooked egg, she cracked. Silas trained her a lot by tempering her crest and taught her how to stay and think.
Tears formed uncontrollably on her eyes, falling down to her cheeks and dripping to her notebook.
She flipped through the pages with blurred vision.
Geon looked at her from the side, not speaking ill of her state. For some reason, the scene reminded him of his first meeting with Eli.
He sighed and waved his hand, manipulating the mana into the earth to channel warmth underneath her butt.
That was all he could as a spirit. He then looked up at the sky and saw the giant pair of eyes beaming down at him.
He just violated the nature of the world to craft himself a body that can reproduce. He didn’t know why he created the body like this. Geon sighed. It was his fault anyway, no one to blame but him.
’I need to control my anger,’ he thought. He created the body in a hurry because he was trying to communicate with Luna using symbolisms.
He looked down and saw the young mage, stopping at the page. Her eyes were practically glued to the page, not blinking.
He peered over her head and read.
Run.
This was the word she wrote down on the page. The advice which Silas gave. Geon didn’t have much opinion about Silas but he could see the unforeseen future waiting for that man like Eli.
So he expected great things from him but this. Just Run?
How was that going to solve the problem?
Suddenly, Luna closed her book and stood up. She wiped her face with a long cloak and faced Geon with a fierce look in her eyes, burning.
The air shifted around her. Geon noticed and changed his mind about Silas. Maybe he was underestimating that man? It must be some kind of secret code or something.
"What are we doing?"
"Silas said I can run away from this. So I am going to just do that." Luna said with a smile.
Geon scratched his head. "What?" This time he was the confused one in the duo.
Luna ignored the spirit and circled around, thinking deeply. "In order to escape, I need a route. I also didn’t want to escape alone. Let’s get down to the mountain. There are some people we need to save from the tide."
"And why? I am in order to assist you but I need a reason for that."
"Because those people are important to Silas. Come."
She grabbed his hand and jumped down from the mountain.
