Silas sat on the table, facing the window and opened the book he got from the underworld.
He flipped to the first page and read. It was a hand written word, telling him about the army they are doing to build. They already got a rough outline in creating but need his input.
After all, he was going to be the one who was going to lead the army to death. For that, he needed a strong grasp of the army’s psyche.
The first page told him about where the soldiers came from. They were mercenaries from various places and people from underground.
There was also some people who got throw into this by a contract. People with debt.
A lot of many people.
There were even some who were from the jail and was brought as a Labor. They were slave but the kingdom didn’t label them as that.
Silas had no problem with that because they likely committed some kind of heinous crime.
So he had, mercenaries, criminals and underworld people.
Quite a diverse group of people.
As a deal, underworld’s job was to built him an army and maintenance lied on him as well as funding.
Silas took out his notebook and checked his money.
He was going to need a lot of soldiers to fight off against Floen.
"Thamior, what is the chance of seventh circle human participating in the war?"
[None. Unless, you got something of their interest.] Thamior replied was quick. He was like an obedience underling.
He probably acted like this because Silas held his life in his palm. Literally.
[Seventh circle human are indifferent to us. They won’t make a move even if the family was destroyed.]
Silas nodded.
"Then, I can make an army with that in mind. Do you know about the military strength of Floen?"
[ I don’t know the full extent but they can easily destroy your army.]
"That is if they had the full strength right?"
[Correct.]
"What I want to know is the military state in this town."
[Then, I know about it a lot. Because I built my lab near this town.]
"I know. I know, you shitty monster. That is why I ask you. And that is why you are still alive." Silas muttered coldly.
[Two sixth circle human stationed in the town. There were about 6 fifth circle human and 10 fourth circle humans. The rest were third and second about 400 people.]
[Don’t underestimate the small number. They are all equiped with good weapons and armor. Some even has artifact. They are the elite of the Floen. But fortunately for you, there was no Dark Shadow in the town.]
Dark Shadow. The mysterious group created by Floen and the central allies. The members of that group was the elite of the elite.
The purpose of their creation was unknown even to Silas who had played the game, granted he didn’t reach the ending.
"Around 500 elite soldiers in the town ready for combat at anytime." Silas murmured.
He looked into the book again and sighed. With his current money, he could only fund around 200 soldiers for two months.
He could find sponsor in the underworld but other than Rin who would take a lossing side of the war.
Nevertheless, he was going to solve everything and took everything from Floen.
He formed a smile and started to work.
He checked the mercenaries and looked into their background provided by the underworld. It was best to avoid hiring them because they could change side in a flip.
Of course, only the lowest and unknown mercenaries changed side like this. The famous mercenaries group didn’t change at all because it would damage their reputation.
So hiring the famous one was quite good. The problem was them participating in his side. He had to convince them a lot. Or maybe even make some deal.
Silas flipped through the mercenaries available for the war. Slowly, he became dejected.
"I am going to need alcohol for this." He joked.
But there was no one to play the joke with him in this room.
Roland was training intensely for the war. Ice-pick was gone, probably communicating with her family.
Luna was working on her spell. He sensed her mana in the inn.
Silas continued looking around the mercenaries names and his eyes landed on the familiar group.
Kevin’s Eight fingers.
"Hmm." He hummed and placed his finger on his lips and formed a smile.
"He is good. Very good. I don’t know why he is here." Silas said out loud.
Kevin’s mercenaries group has a very good master. Currently, their mercenaries group was not famous, sitting around the middle tier. But all of that would change when the war between the continent and the outsider exploded.
Because of the current situation in the continent, not many opportunities arose to make a name with the banner of war. That was why the quality of mercenaries vary greatly.
Kevin’s group has 80 people. Plenty enough for this war.
As for how he got Kevin to convince in the war, it was simple enough.
Influence. With the promise of political power, Silas was certain that Kevin would join the failed war.
"I got myselt a mercenaries. The rest is to fill up the current group."
Silas sighed and stared at the ceiling. The time was now evening. He needed finish choosing the army tomorrow otherwise, he would have to delay on the trip.
He couldn’t allow to delay the trip anymore. Time was pressing onto him. He still had a lot of treasure to find. Current goal was just one small step.
Even that small step was heavy enough to crush him completely.
***
In the mansion of Floen.
Among the random room, a woman with black hair with a single white strip bowed on the floor, unmoving.
From the appearance, she adored the fancy dress and accessories. Judging at her outfit and her hair, one could immediately pointed out that she got the blood of Floen in her body.
And that one was correct.
The lady was Isvender Floen, the youngest daughter of Andile. Her mother was an unknown woman from the slum who got impregnated due to the political reason.
Her eyes was lifeless as she stared at the cold hard floor.
"You are free from us, Isvendar." A harsh voice sounded in her ears, giving her a scare. "Aren’t you glad?"
Isvendar didn’t speak as she was not ordered to do so. She instead lowered her head, her forehead touching the cold floor.
"Oh you can speak."
"I don’t have an opinion, Miss Taya." Isvendar said flatly.
"Good. You should stay that way. Your husband is from the old enemy of us. I heard from my husband that he is quite cruel. I can’t wait to see how much torture he is going to inflict upon you." Lady Taya smirked, looking down at her step-child.
She hated her with a passion. The product of ugly political connection disgusted her very much. But no matter how much she hated Isvendar, she couldn’t outright kill her.
The family opposed the kin slayer.
But sometimes she wondered, why the ruthless family like her made such rule. And she landed on the very convincing answer.
Life was not always worthy of living. In some case, death was the relief for others.
Such was the life of Isvendar.
