The final question was for him. He asked her because he wanted to stop her from developing some kind of romantic relationship with him.
With the questions he asked, he could make out a few theories for Isvendar’s situation.
She was likely abused by her family. The prime suspect was her stepmom. If this was a lie, he had been fooled and he would have congratulated her.
Looking at her thin face, she opened her mouth and closed again. She was struggling between the two choices. He could see her panicking inside.
He chuckled inwardly and smiled.
"I am sorry for my rudeness but I want to see your face."
Why did she say yes? She was supposed to be a toy like her stepmom always said. She was supposed to stay quiet and let things happen to her.
If so, why did she want to see the stranger’s face in front of her.
To be honest, she was scared. His eyes were cold like her stepmom, ready to kill. She tried her best not to show her fear.
Although she heard the rumor of him saving the children, his gazes alone frightened her. She was really a worthless person. She was scared of a hero who saved children.
Then another question rose inside her. Why did she want to see the face of the man she feared? She clenched her hands under the table.
She knew the answer. She knew it too well. Because she knew about herself very much. When a person was alone, that person’s friend was themselves.
She wanted to see the face of the man she was going to marry. That was all. That was a thought of a silly girl.
Silas slowly unwarped his face. The bandages fell on the table. He looked at Isvendar.
’She must be scared. She must feel disgusted at me. Well, who won’t. She is going to regret taking my hand in marriage. The forced marriage.’ Silas thought.
He was a bit convinced that she lived a terrible life before meeting him but he had to investigate just to be sure. She could be a pawn of Andile. With that kind of acting, Andile would likely win the war.
But now, Silas thought of her. He felt sorry for her. She must hold a hope.
When he asked if she wanted to live, she answered yes. Wanting to live despite the terrible life, she must have some kind of hope for a better future.
Now, even her future was destroyed by his ugly face.
Enjoy. Enjoy the feeling of destroying a young lady’s future. Enjoy.
He reminded himself.
"Heinous right? That is who you are going to marry." Silas said and picked up his bandages.
But a hand reached out and stopped him.
"I am sorry for not speaking but I don’t think your face is heinous at all." She said in earnest. For a brief moment, the fierce eye of her fiance shifted.
The change was so fast that she thought she was mistaken.
"Ah.." Silas looked down at his hand and nodded. "Thanks, I guess."
"I am telling the truth. I don’t think you were heinous." Isvendar doubled down.
Silas nodded.
He began warping his face and stood up. " You are going to accompany me on my journey right?"
Isvendar nodded.
"Then you can rest for now. The journey will be harsh. Have you prepared?"
"Yes, all my stuff is in front of the inn."
Silas nodded and left the room, in order to prepare the carriage and manage his people.
" You need money, just say a word. You are my fiance."
Before she could answer, he left the room.
Although their first impression was horrible, she seemed to be a good person.
[Don’t fall in love,Sir. It could be a trap.]
Silas squinted his eyes, chill spread from his body. "I know."
He saw Roland helping Old Gin with the carriage. He left the carriage in capable hand. He walked along the streets, enjoying the feeling of being ordinary.
While he gathered attention due to his looks, it was nowhere taxing for his mental state. 𝒻𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝘯𝘰𝑣ℯ𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝘮
Silas arrived at the building where the underworld was stationed.
He was stopped by the two guards in front of the door. The two men clad in heavy armor with swords at their belts. Their haughty eyes burned with hostility.
Silas was indifferent under their gazes.
One of the two guards walked forward. He wore a great scar on his cheek, his bearing screamed at him as a seasoned warrior.
He shot a glance at Silas and was about to speak when the door behind them suddenly opened up.
Fatty emerged from the door, rubbing his two hands like a fly. He beamed a smile, fat on his face juggled like a jelly.
"You have come. I have been waiting for you."
Fatty gave a shape glance at the two guards and dragged Silas into the building. Soon, they arrived at Fatty’s office.
Rin was sleeping on the couch. She lifted up her head and went back to sleep, waving her hand.
"I am tired. Handle it yourself."
Silas ignored Rin and sat down. He threw the money poach to Fatty.
"This is for the army."
"We will help with everyone else but you need to convince Kevin yourself. The most we can do is invite him to our secret base."
"Sure. I will contact you when I am free." Silas said.
"Are you going to war with Floen?"
"Yeah."
"Then, why are you marrying his daughter?"
"For war, obviously. And I need information about Isvendar Floen. I want all the information about her."
"Give us a few days." Rin spoke out from the side. "We only have that much information about her. And it will cost you."
"No problem."
"Really?" Fatty joined in. "Even the money you gave was barely enough to start the army. How will you find that much money in a few days? Another information you want to sell? Or perhaps, you have a blueprint for an artifact.?"
Silas shook his head and stood up. "You will know. How can I contact you guys?"
Fatty glanced at Rin.
Sensing the gaze, Rin sighed and opened her eyes. She took out a crystal ball from her side and threw it to Silas.
Silas barely caught the crystal ball. "Careful."
"You know how to use a communication crystal right?"
Silas nodded.
"Good. Good night. If one of you interrupted me again, I will cut off your genitals."
Fatty jumped up in fright, covering his groin area. Silas laughed and said goodbye.
He then visited the house and gave a shallow speech to his people. He especially remained Max of his heavy duty.
When Silas arrived back at the inn, the time was just right.
The carriage bearing the symbol of Viremont was seen in front of the inn.
Roland waited beside the carried with his sword on his waist. The ice-pick was yawning.
Luna was talking to Old Gin and taking note.
Then he saw Isvendar, standing away from the group, carrying her small bag. The bag was so small that he doubted she packed enough clothes for three days at all.
Roland saw him first and waved his hand, causing Ice-pick to jump up. She punched Roland and dashed toward Silas.
Luna bowed to him and greeted. Her gentle smile brought him strength. She was so kind unlike Roland and Ice-pick.
He called out Isvendar.
Ice-pick frowned and tightened her gasp on his arms. Silas let go of her.
Luna tilted her head in confusion. Although she knew about the marriage, she didn’t realize that Isvendar was his fiance.
Roland was also in the similar situation as he understood it.
"Well, I am going to introduce a new companion to our journey. Meet Isvendar, my fiance."
