beep beep beep beep
Syn’s eyes fluttered open, the sterile ceiling of the pirate base’s medic room greeting him, its familiar panels a quiet relief, a sign he was home—not in Ila’s clutches, but back with Vera, Aster, and Pako.
His body ached, his thigh wound a dull throb under the bandages, his bloodied face cleaned, his breathing steady under the medical gown.
He turned his head, catching sight of Mia across the room, her white hair matted, her shapeshifter blue blood no longer seeping, bandages all over her body, her ventilator hissing, the monitor beeping with a decent pulse, a fragile sign of life.
The medic, a wiry man in a white coat, noticed Syn’s movement, his glasses glinting as he tapped a quick message to Vera, per her orders, his fingers swift on the console.
Syn stretched a trembling hand toward the medic, his voice low, hoarse. "How’s Mia?" he asked, his hazel eyes flicking to her, concern etching his face, the memory of her sacrifice sharp—her blue blood pooling, her pale eyes pleading for him.
The medic adjusted his glasses, his voice steady but cautious.
"She’ll be fine. Stabilized her, but it was touch and go. Shapeshifter bodies heal unnaturally fast, faster than humans. Surprised me, honestly." He checked Mia’s monitor, its beeps steady, her pulse climbing, a good sign.
Syn nodded, his mind racing, piecing together the puzzle of Mia’s blue blood.
It explained so much—her ability to stalk him through the Kingdom while he served as a soldier, fleeing the pirates; her infiltration deep into the palace to rescue him from Ila’s grasp.
Only a shapeshifter could’ve pulled that off, slipping through guards, mimicking faces, evading detection.
But why?
Why risk her life for him, take bullets, nearly die?
And why is a shapeshifter doing all this for him, he had never even met one until a few months ago on this ship.
The question gnawed at him, a debt he couldn’t repay, a mystery he’d confront when she woke.
For now, he craved the familiar—Vera’s commanding presence, Pako’s sultry warmth, Aster’s fierce protection.
Hiss~
The medic room’s doors hissed open, Vera rushing in, her curvaceous frame a whirlwind, her purple hair a vibrant cascade under the lights, her purple eyes wide with relief.
"Syn!" she exclaimed, her voice breaking as she reached his bed, wrapping him in a careful hug, her breasts pressing softly against his chest, her touch tender to avoid his wounds.
She kissed him, her lips warm, soft, and he kissed her back, his hands weak but clinging to her, his heart steadying in her embrace.
"I’m back," he whispered, his voice rough, his hazel eyes meeting hers, a promise kept.
Hiss~
The door opened again and Pako burst in next, her petite frame a blur, her black hair bouncing, her navy crop top and shorts barely containing her curves, her tanned skin glowing as she leapt onto the bed, straddling Syn’s waist, the frame shaking under her weight.
Vera pulled back, her purple eyes flashing. "Careful, Pako, you idiot! He’s injured!" she snapped, her captain’s voice sharp, as she gripped Pako’s arm.
Pako ignored her, her expressive eyes teary, her hands grabbing Syn’s face, her thumbs brushing his cheeks, her touch possessive, her voice trembling.
"You had me so worried, Syn. Do you know what would’ve happened if we hadn’t saved you?" Her tears spilled, her sultry edge cracking, her heart bare.
Syn’s hand found hers, his grip weak but sincere, a small smile tugging his lips. "I’m sorry, Pako. But I kept the promise in the contract, didn’t I? Came back as soon as I finished the mission. Successfully."
Vera’s purple eyes widened, her captain’s coat rustling as she leaned closer, her voice eager.
"Successfully? You got something?" Her tone was a mix of hope and disbelief, her tattooed hand resting on the bed, her presence commanding but warm.
Syn nodded, his smile faint but proud. "Yeah, I did."
hiss~
The doors hissed again, Aster storming in, her tall, muscular frame imposing, her blonde ponytail swaying, her teal eyes brimming with tears, already.
She shoved Pako aside, her hands trembling as she leaned over Syn, her voice raw.
"You bastard, Syn! Do you know how scared I was, watching your execution? I thought I lost you, this time for real!" Her tears fell, her regal aura fracturing, her hands gripping his shoulders, careful but fierce. "I’m not letting you out of my sight again, even if you hate me for it."
Syn’s hazel eyes softened, guilt and gratitude warring in his chest.
"I’m sorry, Aster. Thanks for saving me," he said, his voice steadying. "You were right. I was stubborn, playing hero, thinking I could do it alone. I can’t. I need you guys, your help."
His admission was raw, a lesson carved in blood and trauma, his time with Ila a scar he couldn’t hide.
Vera’s purple eyes warmed, a smile tugging her lips, her hand squeezing his, her captain’s coat brushing the bed.
Pako’s sultry grin returned, her tanned hand ruffling his hair, her crop top shifting as she leaned closer, her touch playful but anchoring.
Aster’s teal eyes glistened, a softness in her regal demeanor, her blonde ponytail steady as she knelt beside him, her hand cupping his cheek, her thumb brushing his jaw.
"I’m glad you get it," she said, her voice low, a tug of a smile breaking through her tears. "Would’ve hated to break your ankles again." Her tease was gentle, her love a fierce vow, her fingers lingering on his face.
Vera leaned down, her purple hair brushing his cheek, her lips grazing his ear, a soft kiss, her breath warm, her touch a claim.
Pako giggled, her black bob swaying, her lips pressing to his knuckles, her tanned fingers intertwining with his, her sultry warmth a comfort.
Aster’s hand slid to his chest, her teal eyes locked on his, her blonde ponytail falling forward as she bent closer, her lips hovering, ready to kiss him.
But Syn’s breath hitched, his heart lurching, Ila’s face flashing in his mind—her teal eyes, her sharp face, so like Aster’s, her forced kisses, her violation, the trauma a vise around his chest.
He pushed Aster back, his hands trembling, his hazel eyes wide with panic.
Aster froze, her teal eyes wide, shock and hurt flashing across her face, her blonde ponytail still.
Anger surged, a storm in her chest—Why? Why? Why? Why? Why? Why?—looping, screaming, but his pale face, his trembling hands, stopped her cold. 𝘧𝑟𝑒𝑒𝘸𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝓁.𝘤𝘰𝓂
She wanted to demand answers, to force her way through, but his condition held her back, her love for him tempering her fury.
"Sorry, Aster," Syn rasped, his voice small, his hazel eyes avoiding hers, guilt heavy. "I didn’t mean to."
"It’s okay," Aster said, her voice tight, her teal eyes dimming, her hand retreating, her regal aura fractured.
She leaned in again, slower, her lips brushing his, testing, and Syn tried, his lips meeting hers, but his heart thumped, loud, frantic, Ila’s memory a terror, her teal eyes, her touch, her control, her laugh, her voice.
His chest heaved, his hands pulling back, Aster’s hand on his chest feeling the wild beat, her teal eyes narrowing, concern overtaking anger.
"I’m sorry, Aster," Syn said, his voice breaking, his hazel eyes glistening, his trauma laid bare. "You remind me too much of Ila. I had a bad time with her, so bad she... traumatized me." His honesty was a wound, his fear palpable, his body trembling under the medical gown.
Aster’s anger flared, her teal eyes blazing, her blonde ponytail swaying as she clenched her fists.
Ila, her bitch of a sister, had done this—hurt him, scarred him, broken him.
If she’d known, she’d have dragged Ila to the base, tortured her endlessly, never killed her, let her suffer for touching Syn.
Aster wanted to kiss Syn desperately, but his fear stopped her, his trembling heart a plea she couldn’t ignore.N
"Fine, take care," she said, her voice dejected, her regal frame slumping as she got down the bed, leaving the medic room, her steps heavy, her heart aching.
Syn watched her go, guilt twisting in his chest, his fault her sadness, his trauma a wall he couldn’t breach.
Vera and Pako exchanged glances, their faces a mix of shock and concern, the drama unfolding too fast.
"What just happened?" Pako asked, her hair swaying, her tanned hand resting on Syn’s arm, her expressive eyes searching his face.
"What did Ila do, Syn?" Vera asked, her purple eyes narrowing, anger visible on her face, her voice soft but urgent. "Did she torture you?"
Syn’s gaze dropped, his hazel eyes distant, his voice half-honest, not ready for the full truth—Ila’s violation, her obsession, her control.
"She knew about me," he said, his voice low. "Came for me, confined me, tried to get info on the pirates. Mia saved me just in time."
It was true, but incomplete, his trauma too raw, his heart not ready to bare it all, and also not sure what the girls might do when they hear what Ila did to him.
Vera’s purple eyes softened, her hand squeezing his, her purple hair brushing his shoulder as she leaned closer, her lips grazing his ear again, a comforting whisper.
"I can only imagine what you went through," she said, her voice warm, her captain’s authority yielding to care. "Forget the Kingdom. Let’s just... enjoy ourselves for a bit." Her fingers trailed his arm, her touch grounding, her love a shield.
Pako’s sultry grin returned, her tanned hand grazing his chest, sliding lower, her crop top riding up, her voice a purr. "Yeah, Syn, let’s have some fun," she said, her fingers teasing his abdomen, her black hair swaying, her expressive eyes glinting, her warmth a lure.
