"Oh, I’m kind of immortal," Ila said, her tone casual, flippant, her teal eyes sparkling with amusement, as if immortality were a trivial detail, a party trick.
"No way, you’re bluffing," Syn shot back, his voice trembling, his mind rejecting her claim, his heart pounding with the fear that she might be telling the truth, that this nightmare would never end.
Ila’s laughter deepened, a chilling sound that echoed in the car, her head thrown back, her black hair swaying.
She stepped closer, her boots clicking, her eyes locking on his, her voice dropping to a low, daunting purr that sent a shiver down his spine, his body recoiling instinctively.
"Indeed, I’m honest, Syn. And to prove it, I can fuck you again on the throne. It was fun, wasn’t it?" She tiled her head, her words were a blade, slicing through his resolve, her smile a promise of torment, her chilling gaze stripping him bare, rekindling the horror of her violation, the throne’s cold metal, her relentless dominance.
Syn’s breath hitched, his body trembling, her words a visceral reminder of her power, her obsession, her cruelty.
She was as terrifying as the Ila he’d killed, her presence radiating the same unhinged menace, her voice carrying the same possessive hunger.
No shapeshifter could mimic that, could replicate the raw, psychotic intensity of her teal eyes, the way they seemed to see into his soul, to claim it. She was Ila, impossibly, undeniably.
"I killed you, for sure," Syn repeated, his voice a desperate plea, his hands clenching, his eyes searching her face for a crack, a flaw, anything to disprove her existence.
Ila’s smile didn’t waver, her eyes glinting with sadistic patience.
"Syn, stop making me repeat myself and come back to me," she said, her voice soft, almost tender, but laced with steel, a command disguised as a request. 𝕗𝕣𝐞𝐞𝘄𝐞𝚋𝚗𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗹.𝚌𝕠𝚖
Her gaze shifted to Mia, her smile sharpening, her tone dripping with venom. "Of course, I’m going to kill that lady friend of yours, torturing her. You better get ready—we’ll watch that live tonight, after dinner. What do you say?"
Syn’s heart stopped, his breath catching, his eyes darting to Mia, her eyes steady but her body tense, her hands ready to fight, her presence a lifeline he couldn’t lose, she would die all because she came to save him.
Ila’s words were a death sentence, a promise of agony, and he couldn’t let it happen, couldn’t let her take Mia, couldn’t let her win again.
But Ila wasn’t done, her voice cutting deeper, her smile a twisted mockery of affection.
"Oh, also, since you can’t be even more angry at me right now, I’ll mention it anyway," she said, her tone casual, as if discussing the weather. "I killed your wife and son. The very day I saw you join the pirates. See, by now you should really regret joining them." She paused, her eyes locking on his, her smile widening as she watched his face crumple, his heart shatter, as he stood there speechless, his mouth open in shock.
"This is a sign, Syn. People die when you’re not with me. So if you really want to save those innocent people who’ll die because of you in the future, you’ll just have to be with me in the present. I’m not angry with you at all. I won’t punish you. You have nothing to be afraid of. Since you know this secret of mine, this will only bring us closer."
"Nooooooo!" Syn’s scream was raw, primal, his voice breaking, his body shaking with grief, rage, and helpless despair, "You fucking monster, how dare you kill my family!" His heart was a furnace, burning with loss, his mind flooded with memories—his wife’s gentle smile, his son’s laughter, their warmth, their love, stolen by Ila’s cruelty.
He reached into his stolen uniform, his fingers closing around the cold metal of a plasma pistol tucked in the waistband, which he hesitated to pull out so far.
He yanked it free, his hands trembling, and pointed it at Ila, his eyes burning with hatred, his breath ragged.
Ila raised her hands, her smile unfazed, her voice calm as she signaled her guards to hold their fire.
"Calm down, Syn," she said, her tone mockingly soothing, her teal eyes gleaming with amusement.
"They weren’t really your family. Your wife told me everything—that she was just a refugee from the Backdrop, and you took her in as your family so she could find a job in the manufacturing biome while you worked in the Palace. How kind of you. But you forgot, the Kingdom has no tolerance policy against fraud. So—"
"Die, bitch!" Syn roared, his finger squeezing the trigger, the pistol barking in his hands, the recoil jarring his bruised wrists. Plasma bullets tore through the air, one slamming into Ila’s chest, another her face, blood spraying, her body jerking with each impact.
She collapsed, her black hair fanning out, her teal eyes wide with shock, her smile gone, her body crumpling to the metro floor, blood pooling beneath her, the metallic tang sharp in the air.
Syn froze, his breath heaving, his hands shaking, the pistol still raised, the barrel warm from the hot bullets.
Mia’s pale eyes widened, her body tense beside him, her gaze flicking from Ila’s corpse to Syn, surprise and fear mingling in her expression.
The guards, unfazed by Ila’s death, shifted their rifles, their visors glinting, their voices cold and mechanical.
"Don’t move, or you’re dead," one barked, the muzzles trained on Syn and Mia, the threat absolute, the air thick with tension.
Syn’s heart pounded, his mind reeling, his eyes locked on Ila’s body, waiting for her to rise, to laugh, to prove her immortality.
Mia’s hand brushed his arm, her touch grounding him, her pale eyes scanning the guards, searching for an escape.
The metro slowed, its brakes screeching, and stopped at the next station, the scenery biome, its lush greenery visible through the windows, a stark contrast to the blood and death inside.
The doors slid open with a hiss, and Syn’s breath caught, his body tensing, his pistol slipped from his hand.
Ila stepped into the car, her black hair gleaming, her teal eyes glinting, a triumphant smile plastered on her face. This time she wore a silver-threaded tunic which was pristine, her presence a living nightmare, her immortality undeniable. Proved.
