He had summoned her for two days straight, instructing her on how to be the gun in his hand.

After their talks, he would naturally need a release.

Nora Lowell was rejoicing over the success of Seth Howell’s plan, so she found it easier to endure.

But one day, everything changed. Just as they had finished and were sitting up, Sheldon Reid suddenly coughed up a mouthful of blood. His eyes blazing with fury, he looked at her and then sent her flying with a single punch.

Caught completely off guard, she suffered severe internal injuries.

Clad in only a thin robe, nearly naked, she endured the crowd’s contemptuous stares. She found it utterly absurd!

But she wasn’t stupid enough to do it at the cost of her own life.

But no one believed her except herself.

Unfortunately, that feeling of gratitude lasted only a short time.

When Seth Howell hurriedly led her out of the camp and secretively into an underground cave, she thought he was taking her to hide for a while. But in the blink of an eye, he ruthlessly tied up her weakened body with a rope and slapped her hard across the face!

"You’re not Seth Howell!" Nora Lowell suddenly gritted out. "Who the hell are you?"

The man stopped laughing, a mocking smile playing on his lips. "Seth Howell? He left this world a long time ago. I’m just borrowing his identity. As for who I am... you’ll have plenty of opportunities to find out later."

Nora Lowell stared at him in despair. "It was you, wasn’t it?! You’re the one behind this! Otherwise, how could Sheldon Reid have been suddenly poisoned, his energy running rampant!"

"Ha, you could say that. Though I admit, planting the poison in you when we were... intimate... without giving you a heads-up was a bit unsportsmanlike. But isn’t this all according to your plan? First, take down Sheldon Reid, then prop up Commander Walsh, and in the future, Norgate will fall right into my hands!"

"Norgate... I see... You’ve been using me this whole time..."

The man sneered. "The feeling’s mutual. But compared to you, I’m far more merciful!"

Nora Lowell’s eyes glistened with tears. "Fine, so you’re not Seth Howell. But how have I ever wronged you? Wasn’t everything I did for your sake? Commander Walsh must have taken control of the army by now. Your position in the military is second to only one man. Why must you torture a woman who has no use to you anymore? Besides, given our... relationship, how could I possibly tell anyone you’re not Seth Howell? Do you really..."

A crisp "SLAP!" cut off both Nora Lowell’s Charm and her lies.

The man’s expression was unreadable. "I’m warning you. Don’t you dare use that slutty superpower of yours on me again. Otherwise, I’m afraid I won’t be able to stop myself from killing you!"

Nora Lowell’s breath caught in her throat. She lowered her red, swollen face and didn’t dare to speak again.

After stringing her up, the man left quickly.

After that, the situation remained unchanged.

He came for only two reasons: to whip her and to feed her.

He reveled in seeing her in various states of disgrace, after which he would laugh in satisfaction.

More than once, Nora Lowell asked him why he was treating her this way.

Time flew by. Then, on the very day Marcus Monroe sent Sweetie away to return to Paige Summers, a ten-day rain began to fall on Norgate and its surrounding areas.

Since the apocalypse, it had never rained in Norgate.

But not only was it raining now, it was a downpour, and it was lasting for an exceptionally long time.

While people were still trying to figure out if this was a good or bad omen, the rain forced both The Power Corps and the Northern Army to begin adjusting their strategies.

The rainwater, meanwhile, soaked the surface of the land and slowly seeped deep into the ground.
