This was the reason she told herself for her regret.

But as for her true feelings, it was likely that not even she was entirely sure.

All in all, she was happy that Sheldon Reid was alive. What excited her even more was that he had actually started to move against Paige Summers!

She could hardly contain her joy!

She believed that with Sheldon Reid’s status and power, killing Paige Summers should be as easy as crushing an ant. Therefore, she guessed the reason for his displeasure was most likely the unenthusiastic attitude of several Government Governors regarding the attack on Norgate.

What she didn’t know was that while Sheldon Reid was certainly unhappy about the matter, it was an obstacle he had long since predicted. He had even figured out how to deal with it, so it didn’t truly weigh on his mind.

At most, he felt scorn for those cowardly Government officials.

The matter with Paige Summers, however, was different.

He had sensed something was wrong ever since the assassins he sent after Nadia failed to return. They had vanished without a trace, and then Paige Summers had disappeared as well.

It was obvious someone had deliberately erased their tracks.

This not only indicated the other party was highly skilled, but it also implied they were powerful.

And today, Marcus Monroe’s appearance at the banquet had undoubtedly revealed the reason.

’If Jovitas is involved, then none of this is surprising...’

’In fact, Marcus Monroe’s actions are an outright declaration of war!’

A man who was a complete nobody just a few days ago now dared to look at him with such disrespect. And he and Paige Summers were probably mocking him behind his back... The very thought made uncontrollable rage boil up inside him!

But he was Sheldon Reid, after all.

By the time he was halfway there, he had managed to suppress his anger, telling himself that their affair could wait. There was, however, one matter that could not.

Norgate. He had to have it!

After spending so much effort to open the roads to Norgate, and knowing he would have to expend even more manpower and resources to conquer it, he certainly wasn’t doing all this just to savor the joy of victory.

What he wanted was to build the most powerful base—one that belonged to him and him alone!

The heights he wanted to reach were far beyond merely being the commander of Central City’s Power Corps!

He was determined to achieve what his father never could!

And taking Norgate was the most critical step!

So, the first thing he had to do now was deal with those idiots in The Government as quickly as possible!

As he walked through the gates of his villa, the thought finally brought a faint smile to his lips.

Nora Lowell followed behind him, and the two entered the villa together.

When dawn broke, he emerged with a steady stride, leaving Nora Lowell on the bed, her body covered in bruises, once again resorting to her old methods of self-consolation.

And while they were thus occupied, an unexpected person had sought out Marcus Monroe. They temporarily buried the hatchet and began to negotiate a partnership. Meanwhile, someone else was hastening back to Central City, accompanied by an elderly man.

The old man’s expression was agitated, his gaze unfocused, his heart desperate for news of his son.

If Sheldon Reid were to see him, he would be astonished, for this was the man he thought had long since disappeared: Milton Faraday’s father, Ryan Faraday!
