Aria Cheney’s heart tightened as she glared fiercely at Seraphina Sterling. ’That damn girl! How dare she try to make me lose money!’ Aria quickly concealed her hateful expression.

"Mom, Seraphina is right. But the prize money won’t be released for another three months. If it were available, I would’ve taken it out when we were at home. Why else would I have come all the way to Kimberly’s?"

"Seraphina, didn’t a very rich man drop you off in a luxury car the day before yesterday? Go borrow fifty thousand from him. You’ll definitely be able to get it!" Aria Cheney shifted the topic onto Seraphina. 𝐟𝗿𝐞𝚎𝚠𝐞𝚋𝕟𝐨𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝕔𝕠𝚖

This time, before Eleanor Young could say anything, Miss Jennings spoke up. Seraphina buying her insurance had struck a chord. After all, a snobbish and vain woman like Aria Cheney would never support the elderly. ’This change is an unexpected bonus.’

"Actually, there’s a much simpler way! My youngest uncle must have been instructed by someone when he went to the police station to testify, right? That person probably gave him a hefty fee for his services. As long as my youngest aunt takes out that money, the problem will be solved!"

Eleanor Young, who had been sobbing uncontrollably, instantly froze. The look on her face, caught between crying and not crying, was truly comical. ’How does Seraphina know about this?’

Seraphina’s lips twitched. ’Grandma has a fiery temper, too! That slap looked like it hurt, even from here.’

"Mom, let me explain! Zeke did get a sum of money, but we spent it all on new stock a few days ago. All the money is tied up in inventory now!" Eleanor Young explained frantically, clutching her slapped cheek. But the look she shot Seraphina was exceptionally vicious.

"Oh? If all the money was spent on stock, then where did that gold bracelet on my aunt’s wrist come from? I don’t recall you ever owning such expensive jewelry before! Your golden necklace has gotten thicker, too! And you’ve changed the ring on your finger! If someone decked out in gold and silver like you claims to have no money, then I suppose no one does!"

Seraphina’s soft voice sounded demonic to Eleanor Young’s ears. ’How does she know everything?’

"So that’s how it is, Eleanor! My son is suffering in a police station while you’re here, decked out in gold and silver! And you still have the nerve to ask an old woman like me for money! Let’s go! We’re selling all that stuff you’re wearing!" Although Miss Jennings was in her sixties, she was still quite robust. She grabbed Eleanor Young and dragged her away.

Watching the three of them leave, Seraphina’s lips curled into a faint smile. She didn’t have to guess what would happen next. ’You reap what you sow.’

"Seraphina, you gave me all the resettlement money. Where did you get the funds to buy us insurance?" Kimberly Jennings asked with a frown.

"Mom, have you forgotten what I told you? I made some money from stone gambling, remember? I used that money to buy Philip Hale’s business, and then I turned around and sold it to Justin Hale. Your daughter is a rich woman now! You should keep that resettlement money for your retirement and not touch it unless it’s an emergency! From now on, your daughter will take care of you!"

Seraphina linked her arm through Kimberly Jennings’s, acting cute and playful.

Kimberly Jennings’s heart suddenly felt warm. She had lost her husband, but she still had her daughter. And her daughter was becoming more and more mature, learning to be filial to her elders.

"Alright. From now on, Mom will just stay home, practice calligraphy, play some chess, brew coffee when I have free time, and tend to my flowers."
