"Seraphina Sterling, you’re the first transfer student in our school’s history to be admitted directly into the advanced class. I hope you can continue to maintain your excellent grades!" Dana Lowell found herself liking the girl more and more. The young lady was fresh-faced and clean, and even after scoring full marks, she wasn’t arrogant at all, but very modest.
"Impossible! This is impossible! Something must have gone wrong somewhere! How could Seraphina Sterling get full marks in every subject? Her grades have always been at the bottom of the class. Even if she crammed at the last minute and got a tutor, she couldn’t possibly improve this fast!" Aria Cheney was so shocked she forgot where she was and questioned the authenticity of the scores on the spot.
"Sister-in-law, what you’re saying is just wrong! Our Seraphina’s previous grades weren’t great, but she’s willing to learn and had a tutor. Isn’t it normal for her grades to improve?" Kimberly Jennings immediately retorted. She had wanted to speak up earlier but had been cut off by Dana Lowell.
"Improved grades? Hmph! If these scores are really what Seraphina Sterling achieved, then this isn’t just improvement—it’s becoming a genius! I’ve been in education for so many years and I’ve never seen a student’s grades improve so rapidly. It’s like she shot up on a rocket! No matter what, I absolutely refuse to believe these are Seraphina Sterling’s real scores!"
Seraphina Sterling’s results had really gotten under Aria Cheney’s skin. She had been planning to use the school admission as an opportunity to get back the fifty thousand dollars. When Seraphina first said she would get in through the official entrance exam, Aria thought it was just wishful thinking. Who would have thought that this Seraphina would not only pass the entrance exam, but do so with full marks in every subject? ’Isn’t this a blatant slap in the face!’
"According to you, unless I knew the questions beforehand, there’s no way I could get full marks in everything? So, Aunt-in-law, does that mean you don’t trust your own colleagues? You think they leaked the exam questions?" Seraphina Sterling stepped forward, unhurried. Her words instantly silenced the room.
"I was the one who wrote these questions, and they were carefully selected from various major question banks. No one else could possibly know them! Director Cheney, are you suggesting I leaked the exam?" Dana Lowell’s expression changed in a flash. She could no longer maintain even a semblance of her easygoing demeanor.
Aria Cheney knew she had misspoken and immediately tried to backtrack. "That’s not what I meant. I just find it hard to believe Seraphina Sterling could improve so quickly. After all, she’s not even half as smart as our Zoe. Zoe..."
"Zoe Jennings may be smart, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t people smarter than her! Director Cheney, you’d do well not to be so arrogant!" After saying her piece, Dana Lowell ignored Aria Cheney’s reaction. "Students whose names were called, follow me to complete the enrollment procedures!"
The large group of students and parents left in a great commotion, leaving Aria Cheney to glare viciously at Seraphina Sterling’s back, venting her frustration. ’If it weren’t for her, Dana Lowell would never have snubbed me like that!’
’Not only did I fail to get the money, but I also offended a colleague. We see each other all the time at work; how am I supposed to function now that things are so tense!’
The first student in the school’s history to pass the entrance exam with full marks in every subject! She immediately became famous among the transfer students. Everyone would, consciously or not, look at Seraphina Sterling with admiration, marveling at the way her brain was wired. ’Full marks! In every subject! She’s a true academic ace!’
"I’m Mindy Linton, but you can call me Mia. Seraphina, you’re so amazing! Which tutor helped you improve so much?" Mindy Linton’s grades were always average, and she admired high-achieving students the most.
’Seraphina? Are we that close?’ Still, she didn’t dislike Mindy Linton’s personality. ’As for the tutor? That arrogant, conceited young master!’ Recalling the hellish life she had endured, Seraphina Sterling mentally filtered out the name "Terrence Grant." "Actually, when it comes to studying, it’s all up to the individual. If you really want to learn, there’s nothing you can’t master!"
Mindy Linton was easily fobbed off. After today, Seraphina Sterling would begin attending school on a regular schedule. Barely a month into the school year, the name "Seraphina Sterling" had become the most talked-about name in the entire high school. Language, Math, English; Physics, Chemistry, Biology; Politics, History, Geography—she excelled in every subject. She was also beautiful and greeted everyone she met with a warm smile. You could say she was already a legend at the school.
Junior year is crucial for every high school student. Only by building a solid foundation then can one handle the final-year review with ease.
However, that was for ordinary students. ’I am Seraphina Sterling. I’m destined for a life beyond the ordinary routine!’
The tourist attractions in town were almost fully developed, and tour groups were arriving one after another. If her memory served her right, construction on the Grant Resort had already begun. Recently, people in town had started talking about demolition compensation. ’I have to speed things up! Once I get the compensation money, I’ll have the capital I need.’ 𝑓𝑟𝑒𝘦𝓌𝑒𝑏𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝘭.𝒸𝘰𝑚
’Today is the weekend, and as usual, I’m supposed to go to Terrence Grant’s courtyard for my training. I paid so much in tuition; I have to get my money’s worth. Even though Terrence Grant is arrogant and conceited, he really does have the right to be.’
After school, Seraphina Sterling said goodbye to Summer and Mindy Linton and headed straight for Terrence Grant’s house. But just as she left the school grounds, she sensed someone was following her. And it was more than one person.
