- Chapter 1: Foundation Realm Idiot
The scar-faced bandit leader rushed toward Damian with his axe raised high.
His aura was not weak.
From what Damian felt, this man was around the Sixth Stage Foundation Establishment Realm.
Among ordinary rogue cultivators, he could definitely be considered dangerous.
Unfortunately for him, Damian was not an ordinary cultivator.
Damian’s grin widened. "Perfect timing."
He slowly drew his dark-silver sword.
Flame and thunder flickered around the blade at the same time, but this time, Damian did not use [Mountain Breaking Sword Art].
Instead, a new sword intent quietly rose from his body.
[Burning Thunder Sword Art]
The moment Damian stepped forward, the air around him seemed to crackle and burn.
And when he waved his sword, a streak of burning thunder flashed across the road.
BOOOM!
The bandit leader’s axe collided with Damian’s sword, but the result was completely one-sided.
The large axe trembled violently, and the bandit leader was forced backward more than ten steps.
His arms went numb, and smoke rose from the edge of his weapon.
His eyes widened in shock. "What kind of sword art is that?!"
Damian did not answer him and simply looked at his sword with bright eyes. "This feels really fucking amazing."
Compared to his old sword art, [Burning Thunder Sword Art] suited his Flame and Thunder Qi far better.
The sword strike did not just rely on brute force. It cut, burned, exploded, and paralyzed all at once.
The scar-faced bandit leader finally realized something was wrong.
This young man had not stayed still because he was weak.
He had stayed still because he was basically the strongest one here and was only watching over the others.
His face immediately changed, and he took several steps back. "Wait! Young Master, this is a misunderstanding!"
Damian raised an eyebrow. "Misunderstanding?"
The bandit leader quickly lowered his axe. "Yes! We were blind! We did not know this caravan was protected by someone like you. Please spare us this once!"
Several other bandits also panicked when they saw their leader retreat.
"Spare us!"
"We won’t do it again!"
"We were forced!"
Damian looked at them calmly adn hi smisled slowly faded. "Forced?"
His voice became colder. "How many people have you killed on this road?"
The bandits froze.
Damian continued, "How many merchants did you rob? How many weak travelers begged you before you cut them down?"
No one answered.
Damian lifted his sword, and flame and thunder surged again. "We are disciples of the Heavenly Sword Sect. A righteous sect."
His eyes became sharp. "So when we see dirty things like you blocking the road..."
His sword flashed. "We clean it up."
The inner disciples seemed to understand his meaning at once.
Their spirits rose, and they attacked together.
Sword Qi swept through the road.
The bandits tried to flee, but it was already too late.
Damian moved among them like a streak of burning lightning. Every swing of his sword sent bandits flying, burned their defenses, or shattered their weapons.
In only a short while, the road became quiet again.
Marden Lou hurriedly climbed down from the wagon, his face pale but full of gratitude.
He cupped his hands deeply toward Damian. "Young Master Damian, thank you! If not for you, this old merchant might not have survived today."
Damian wiped his sword clean and smiled casually. "No need. We’re on the same mission."
Then he looked toward the road ahead. "Let’s continue."
--
After the first bandit attack, the caravan continued moving toward Redstone City.
At first, Damian thought that should have been the end of it.
After all, bandits were not cabbages growing on the side of the road. They should not appear every few hours like wild grass.
But reality quickly slapped him in the face.
By the afternoon, another group of bandits appeared.
At night, a few rogue cultivators tried to sneak near the wagons.
The next morning, another ambush came from the forest.
And by the second day, even Damian’s smile had started to fade.
Flame and thunder flashed across the road as he cut down the last masked attacker.
The man crashed into a tree and stopped moving.
Damian lowered his sword and frowned deeply. "Damn... what the hell is this?"
The nearby inner disciples were also breathing heavily. Their robes were dusty, and several of them had minor wounds.
Damian looked at them and asked, "Is this normal?"
One inner disciple immediately shook his head. "No. Escort missions sometimes meet bandits, but not this many."
Another disciple wiped blood from his cheek and said, "This road has been unstable recently, but this is too much. It feels like they already know our route."
Damian’s eyes narrowed slightly. "Exactly."
He turned toward the wagons.
Marden Lou had been hiding near the lead wagon, his face pale and covered in cold sweat.
The moment Damian looked at him, the merchant flinched.
Damian slowly walked over, his dark-silver sword still in his hand. "Marden Lou."
The merchant forced a smile. "Y-Young Master Damian..."
Damian stopped in front of him and pointed toward the bodies on the road. "Just what the hell are you bringing?"
Marden’s face stiffened. "I... I am only transporting ordinary goods."
Damian smiled, but there was no warmth in it. "Ordinary goods? Then why are so many bandits throwing their lives away for them?"
The surrounding inner disciples also looked over.
Marden Lou swallowed nervously. "Young Master, I really did not lie. The cargo is mostly herbs, cloth, and spirit stones for trade."
Damian’s eyes became sharper. "Mostly?"
Marden immediately froze.
Damian’s smile widened slightly. "There it is."
The merchant lowered his head and wiped his sweat again. "There is... one special item."
The inner disciples’ expressions changed.
Damian sighed. "Of course there is."
Marden quickly explained, "It is a sealed jade box. I do not know what is inside. I was only paid to deliver it to Redstone City."
Damian looked at him silently.
Marden’s voice trembled. "I swear I did not know it would attract this much trouble."
Damian turned his gaze toward the forest road ahead. "If this many bandits are coming, then they are not acting randomly."
His voice became colder. "Someone is ordering them."
The inner disciples gripped their swords tighter.
Damian slowly sheathed his sword, but his eyes remained sharp. "From now on, no one leaves the formation. And Marden Lou..."
The merchant stiffened.
Damian glanced at him. "If you hid anything else, say it now."
Marden quickly shook his head. "Nothing else! I swear!"
Damian looked at him for a few seconds before turning away. "Good."
Then he muttered under his breath, "Damn it. I knew this escort mission was too peaceful to be real."
