ELLA.
The ride with the triplets to the office remained unusually quiet, except for the fact that Lurgard kept stealing glances in my direction every few seconds, clearly amused by something only he seemed to find funny.
And each time my eyes snapped toward him with a sharp, dagger-like glare, he only responded with a quiet laugh, as though I was entertaining him instead of warning him.
I clenched my jaw and turned away, refusing to give him any further reaction.
By the time we arrived at the company, I didn’t waste a single second.
The moment the car came to a stop, I pushed the door open and stepped out quickly, my only thought being to get away before anyone could notice us arriving together.
Because that was the last thing I needed.
Without looking back, I hurried inside the building and headed straight for the elevator.
My fingers pressed the button repeatedly as my heart beat faster than usual, almost as if it were trying to outrun me.
"Come on..." I muttered under my breath.
I watched the doors closely, silently praying they would close before the triplets caught up.
And thankfully, after a tense moment, the elevator doors slid shut.
I let out a long breath I hadn’t realized I was holding.
For a moment, I thought I was safe, but the relief didn’t last long, because once I reached my floor and stepped out of the elevator, reality settled back in immediately.
There was no escaping them, as they would still find me here anyway.
I barely managed to take a few steps into the office when I stopped abruptly.
Right in front of me stood a delivery man.
He was holding a large bouquet of roses carefully in his hands, as though it was something fragile and valuable.
I blinked in surprise.
For a second, I even wondered if he had mistakenly entered the wrong floor, because the presidential level wasn’t exactly a place random people just walked into.
"Greetings, Ma’am Ella," he said politely. "There is a package for you."
I stared at the flowers for a moment, already feeling a headache forming.
There was no need to ask who sent them.
I already knew.
Alex.
Of course it was him again.
He never knew when to stop.
I exhaled slowly, irritation building quietly in my chest as I took a step closer, preparing to dismiss it completely.
I was already about to tell him to take it back or throw it away....when suddenly, a thought crossed my mind and just like that, I paused.
"I would love you to do something for me," I said softly to the delivery man, my tone calm but deliberate.
He hesitated for a brief moment, then leaned in slightly closer, clearly trying to listen more carefully.
I lowered my voice and whispered the instructions into his ear, ensuring no one else could hear what I was saying.
Once I was done, I straightened up and took the package booklets from him, signing them quickly and neatly before handing them back.
The roses were still in his other hand.
At the very top of the bouquet, I noticed a folded letter placed carefully, almost deliberately meant to catch attention.
With a small reluctance, I reached for it and opened it.
My eyes scanned the words slowly.
> Morning princess, just wanted to let you know you hold my heart.
A scoff escaped me almost instantly.
Predictable.
I didn’t even bother to read it a second time.
The words had already made their point.
With a small, dismissive motion, I tucked the letter back into the bouquet, pushing it down slightly between the roses before gesturing firmly for him to leave immediately.
There was no need for further interaction.
The delivery man gave a respectful bow, adjusting the remaining items in his hands, and then turned to leave with his team following closely behind him.
Their footsteps faded quickly down the corridor.
The moment they were completely gone, the atmosphere felt lighter again, as though a temporary disturbance had finally been removed.
I turned without hesitation and headed straight inside the office, but just as I stepped in fully, I sensed movement at the entrance.
And almost immediately after, the triplets arrived as well.
Without waiting for any conversation, I walked straight into Lurgard’s office and dropped my bag onto the table with a light thud.
A few seconds later, I sensed him following behind me.
"Too eager to continue?" he asked again, his voice carrying that familiar teasing tone as a wide, almost provoking smile spread across his face.
I immediately rolled my eyes in response, deliberately refusing to meet his gaze, as though acknowledging him further would only encourage him.
"At the office, I would advise you act professional," I said flatly, keeping my tone controlled and business-like, even though irritation flickered faintly beneath it.
"Really?" Lurgard replied, lifting his brows slightly, clearly amused by my warning rather than intimidated by it.
A faint smirk remained on his lips as he tilted his head.
"I hope in the future you will be able to keep up with your own words," he added calmly, the teasing edge still present as he turned away and walked toward the inner office without waiting for my response.
The sound of his footsteps faded gradually.
I exhaled slowly, finally allowing myself to sink into the chair behind me.
My shoulders loosened slightly as I tried to steady my breathing and push my thoughts back into order.
For a brief moment, I almost convinced myself I could finally relax.
But that feeling didn’t last, not even a few seconds because...
My phone suddenly buzzed.
A sharp notification sound broke the silence around me.
My attention snapped downward immediately.
Without hesitation, I reached for it, fingers already moving before I could fully process what I was doing.
And the moment I checked the screen...
My eyes paused.
The sender’s name was clearly displayed.
Micheal.
