- Chapter 1: The New Life And New World
At Elisa’s words, everyone looked at the kid who had made that absurd level of mana control seem like child’s play.
But Asher simply stood there with his usual calm expression.
Then Elisa said in a stern voice, "Since your mana control is already more than enough, you can train your secondary element during class."
"What is your secondary element?" Elisa asked.
Everyone focused on Asher, eager to hear his answer. They also wanted to know what his other elements were because spatial magic and healing magic were support-type elements and were not suited for direct combat.
Unless a person’s understanding of spatial magic reached the master level, it was not considered highly lethal. At the master level, spatial magic became one of the deadliest elements for attacking, but at lower mastery, it was mainly used for support.
Because of that, most spatial magic users trained another element for offense. Attribute-less spells were also effective for attacking, but they were still inferior to elemental spells. Since Asher had never used any other element before, everyone was curious about what other element he possessed and how skilled he was with it.
Asher replied, "Nothing"
Elisa was surprised by his answer, but after thinking about his absurd mana control and mastery over spatial magic, she understood that he had likely focused only on those and never bothered training another element.
His offensive power was already among the best, so he did not really need another element. Besides, he could always learn one later if he want to.
The others came to the same conclusion.
They were also relieved that he apparently did not have another hidden card. That meant it might be easier to defeat him in future tests if they carefully studied his attack patterns.
Elisa then said, "Since you don’t use any other elements, if you want, I can teach you another one. Choose whichever you want—fire or wind. I am best at teaching those."
Everyone was surprised by her response because who would not want to learn from a genius Grandmaster who had mastered two elements? That was extremely rare since there were hardly any Grandmasters on the entire continent, and people who had mastery over two elements numbered less than ten.
As everyone wondered which element he would choose—fire, wind, or perhaps even both—Asher simply said,
"Can’t I just sleep? Look at how good the weather is today. It’s perfect for a morning nap."
Silence.
The entire training ground became strangely quiet.
Everyone stared at Asher as if they had misheard him.
This was an opportunity countless mages would fight wars for, and he was talking about sleeping.
A Grandmaster personally offering to teach someone was already unbelievable.
A dual-element Grandmaster offering private guidance was something most people could only dream about.
And yet—
The person receiving that offer looked more interested in the weather.
Elisa’s eye twitched slightly.
"...A morning nap?" she repeated slowly.
Asher nodded seriously while looking at the clear sky.
"The sunlight is nice, the wind is cool, and the atmosphere is peaceful. This is the perfect environment for sleeping."
A few students nearly choked trying to hold back their laughter.
Adam immediately turned his face away while his shoulders trembled violently.
Noah covered his mouth.
Meanwhile, the other students felt their brains malfunctioning.
Some of them trained until collapsing from exhaustion just to gain a little guidance from elite mages.
This monster was casually rejecting personal training from a Grandmaster because he felt sleepy.
One of the students muttered under his breath,
"...I want to punch him."
Another nodded immediately.
"Same."
But Elisa suddenly smiled.
It was a beautiful smile.
The kind that made everyone nearby instinctively step back in fear.
"Very well," she said softly.
Asher finally sensed something dangerous and slowly looked at her.
"If you don’t want to learn," Elisa continued, "then you should complete fifty rounds around the academy while controlling your mana perfectly."
The entire class froze.
But Asher gave a big smile and said, "A walk around the academy while drinking juice in this weather doesn’t sound that bad either. Okay, I’m off for a walk."
He casually walked out of the training ground while taking a juice box and headphones out of his subspace.
The entire class watched him leave in complete silence.
Step.
Step.
Step.
Asher casually walked away as if he were heading out for a peaceful picnic instead of punishment.
A juice box in one hand.
Headphones in the other.
His expression looked so relaxed that some students started questioning reality itself.
Adam stared blankly at his disappearing figure.
"...Did he just turn punishment into leisure time?"
Noah nodded slowly.
"I think he did."
Aria just smiled.
Meanwhile, Elisa silently watched Asher walk farther and farther away.
Her eye twitched again.
Most students would collapse halfway through such punishment even without mana control involved. Perfect mana control during movement required absurd concentration and stamina.
Yet that boy looked happier after receiving punishment.
Then—
Elisa suddenly spoke without turning around.
"If he spills even a single drop of juice, the count restarts from zero."
The class went silent for a second.
Then several students burst out laughing.
Far away, Asher’s walking pace visibly paused for half a second.
Only half a second.
Then he continued walking again as though nothing had happened.
But this time, he carefully inserted the straw into the juice box before continuing.
Adam immediately lost control and laughed loudly.
"He actually got serious!"
Even Noah started laughing now.
Aria shook her head helplessly.
"He treats life-threatening battles casually, but he becomes careful over juice..."
Meanwhile, outside the training ground, Asher walked peacefully along the academy pathway while soft music played through his headphones.
Students passing by turned to stare at him in confusion.
A first-year casually drinking juice during class hours was already strange.
But Asher ignored all of it.
The weather was nice.
The breeze felt comfortable.
And honestly—
This punishment was far more enjoyable than training.
It is much better than learning a new element.
