Forbes Mall wasn’t just any shopping center.
It was the number one excess.
A complex of consumerism that stretched across three city blocks in the upper districts. Every major luxury brand on the planet begged for shelf space here. Gucci, Prada, Louis Vuitton—they all paid astronomical fees just to have a storefront in this hallowed ground.
The Forbes family had built their empire on this very mall. It was their golden goose, their crown jewel, and the primary reason Mandy Forbes could walk through life with her head held high. She’d been photographed with A-list musicians, had selfies with actors who’d graced international covers, and maintained an Instagram following of over five million people who worshipped her every outfit post.
And then there was her beauty.
Quinn Hilton might hold the title of campus belle, but ask any male student with a pulse, and they’d tell you Mandy was a close second.
Some even argued she was first. Quinn was beautiful in a generic way—long blonde hair, pretty blue eyes, like a princess stepped out of a fantasy novel.
Beautiful, yes, but predictable.
Mandy was different.
Her short platinum hair framed a face that always looked slightly condescending, those sharp blue eyes carrying a hint of mischief that made men feel both intimidated and intrigued. Her body was slender but athletic, with curves in all the right places—a slim waist that flared into hips that could make a man forget his own name. And then there was the lollipop she always had in her mouth, licking it in ways that made grown men wish they were made of sugar.
Right now, that lollipop was dancing between her lips as she stared up at Chrome with those piercing eyes.
Chrome nodded as he glanced around.
"Oh yeah, Forbes Mall, that makes sense. Didn’t realize your family owned the place."
Mandy tilted her head as her lollipop clicked against her perfect, white teeth.
"That’s fine. I didn’t expect you to know the place much less know the owner. Aren’t you so broke that the only reason you’re in the upper districts is because of school?"
She stepped closer, close enough that Chrome could see the perfect meaty cleavage peeking from her designer blouse—two soft, shiny pearls squished together in a way that would make any man’s throat go dry.
Her eyes narrowed suspiciously.
"You’ve changed a lot in the last few days. The way you talk and how you look..."
She reached out and pinched his shirt between her slender fingers.
"This is Loro Piana. Original. I don’t think I’ve ever seen you wear luxury brand before. You can’t afford them, so why suddenly start wearing them?"
Chrome slapped her hand away, adjusting his shirt with a sharp glare.
"Maybe you should try speaking to people with a lot more manners. Don’t touch people’s clothes like that. Didn’t your parents teach you better?"
His heart raced slightly.
Maybe he’d gone too far. What if she got pissed and kicked him and Lana out of the mall?
Instead, Mandy stepped back.
She seemed to be talking to no one in particular.
"What I said seems to be rude. Not just what I said, but my actions as well. I’ll factor that in the next time I’m addressing someone of lower-class."
She pulled out her smartphone and began typing notes.
"New tips for talking to people..."
Chrome blinked.
"Uh, maybe you should also add not calling people lower-class to their face."
Mandy looked up, genuinely confused.
"So calling them that behind their backs is better?"
"Uhm..."
Chrome was totally at a loss for words.
It made sense now.
Mandy had lived her entire life surrounded by celebrities with fake personalities and high-profile figures who never spoke honestly. Of course she didn’t know how to socialize with normal people. That was probably why she was always hosting parties, desperately trying to connect with students like her. She was socially inert.
Mandy blinked owlishly at him.
"You’re at a loss for words, so you must have no idea what you’re talking about. I’ll note down that Chrome Langley is an idiot..."
"HEY!" Chrome shouted.
She paused her typing.
"I won’t use ’idiot’ yunno. I’ll use something nicer instead if that’s better?"
Chrome sighed, rubbing his temples. "Next time, say the nice word to the person. Write whatever you like in your notes as long as they don’t see it."
"Noted." Mandy adjusted her glasses.
---
Across the mall, in a fancy cafe, Olivia Hilton watched the entire exchange with vicious eyes. Her green orbs burned with barely contained fury as she gripped her coffee cup so hard the porcelain creaked.
"That Chrome is truly a vicious man. There’s no way my daughter fell for this garbage. I know that short-haired girl. It’s Mandy from the Forbes family. We attend the same country club. He must be stealing money off these girls and using it to spend lavishly on other women."
Her eyes narrowed.
"Disgusting."
Her secretary, Henrietta, a tall woman with a perpetually worried expression, spoke carefully.
"Madam, I’m not sure that’s accurate. If I recall correctly, Young Miss Quinn gifted him a black card and a Lamborghini, both of which he turned down. So it’s not—"
"That doesn’t matter now!" Olivia cut her off.
Henrietta sighed internally. The president was clearly looking for an excuse to carry her anger out on a man after being embarrassed by Mr. Gold in front of millions. She lowered her head, saying nothing.
Olivia’s glare intensified as she watched Chrome continue his conversation with Mandy.
"I will crush him like an ant."
Henrietta’s eyes widened with concern.
"Madam, there’s no need for that. Your power is too much for menial matters. It won’t look good if the CEO of Hilton Group kills a college student!"
"Silence! He’s the one who deceived Quinn and tricked her into falling for those green eyes like jade and golden locks like the morning sun!"
Henrietta paused. "Huh?"
Olivia’s face reddened slightly. "You know what I mean!"
She turned back to Chrome and formed intricate hand seals to gathered spiritual energy. The entire cafe trembled violently, cups rattling on tables, patrons gasping in terror.
This was the power of the Grandmaster Realm!
After completing the final seal, Olivia had gathered enough spiritual energy to shape into an array of sword qi that rotated around her like a deadly halo.
Great Emperor Sword!
Henrietta’s face went pale.
"This is too much! I was there the last time the president used this move to slice a city block in half!"
---
Chrome felt the fierce gathering of spiritual energy. His instincts screamed danger. Looking past Mandy, he spotted Olivia Hilton standing in the distance, surrounded by that terrifying sword array.
"This woman must be mad!"
He tried to bolt, but Mandy grabbed his arm.
"Stop right there. We haven’t finished talking. You don’t get to leave just like that."
Chrome ripped his hand free, but as he spun to escape, he crashed into a couple carrying drinks. The liquids spilled all over him, soaking his expensive shirt.
Mandy pulled her lollipop from her mouth.
"Serves you right for trying to leave."
Across the way, Olivia’s eyes narrowed.
"He’s trying to escape! Dirty rat!"
She was about to unleash the charged sword qi when Chrome grabbed Mandy’s hand and yanked her into the dressing room of a random fashion store.
---
The tiny room was cramped.
The moment the door clicked shut, Mandy tried to break free from his grip.
"Let go of me!"
She hissed, struggling against his hold.
Chrome clamped a hand over her mouth.
"Shut up, or you’ll get us killed!"
Mandy’s eyes blazed with fury behind his palm.
"Who would try to kill me?! This is just an excuse to get with me! How shameless can you be?!"
That did it. Chrome’s patience was exhausted.
"NO ONE GIVES A DAMN ABOUT YOU!" ಠ_ಠ
He slicked his golden locks back to see better.
"You must be crazy. I have a girlfriend, and frankly, you’re not my type."
Mandy’s face contorted with offended disbelief.
"How dare you say that?! Are you calling me ugly?!"
"No, but everyone has their type. I’m just not a fan of rude women."
Chrome rolled his eyes after.
Mandy planted her hands on her curvy hips.
"You must have lost your mind. How many guys at school would die at the thought of going out with me? What makes you sooo different? You’re not rich or popular, and you’re quite ugly too..."
She paused, taking a better look at his face.
The glowing handsomeness caught her off guard.
"Well... used to be ugly..."
Chrome ignored her, peeping through the crack in the door. He saw Olivia and her secretary checking dressing rooms one after another.
’Can a woman really hate me this much?’
But his thoughts were cut off as two soft lumps of meat squeezed against his back and the hard pins at the ends poked deliciously against his spine.
Breasts!
Mandy’s arms wrapped around him from behind, her chest pressed tightly against him.
"What’s wrong?" Chrome uncomfortably asked.
Mandy’s voice was a hot whisper in his ear.
"Since we’re alone, let’s fuck~"
Chrome froze. "What?! Where did that come from?!"
She pressed closer, her lips brushing his earlobe.
"I’ve always heard poor guys are the best in bed. I haven’t slept with a man, but I’m eager to know how that feels but my boyfriend is a loser... he’s always talking about taking it slow and all that. I’ll pay you a lot if you submit yourself to me right now in this dressing room."
She squeezed one of his nipples between her fingers.
"Let. Me. Have. My. Way. With. You~ ♥️"
Her hot whisper caressed his ears.
Chrome’s eyes managed to crawl back and he saw a hot, sexy look on her face. How did this clueless woman turn into a succubus in a matter of seconds?
[Warning! Host has walked into a matriarchal trap that may end your freedom! Chances of escape are low!]
Chrome’s heart hammered against his ribs.
’What’s that supposed to mean?!’
