Damon’s lips curved into a slow, wolfish smile as the mission notification faded from his vision, the golden text dissolving like embers caught in a breeze.

’A new mission. As always, you read me perfectly, System,’ he mused inwardly, a low, quiet laugh rolling through his thoughts.

The reward alone was staggering — a million lust points was the kind of number that could reshape his cultivation entirely.

But the bonus mission gave him pause, a genuine flicker of interest stirring behind those luminous golden eyes.

No abilities.

Just him, his wit, and whatever natural magnetism the Blood of the Incubus Lord had woven into his very body.

A worthy challenge, and one that suited his pride far more than simply overwhelming her with supernatural influence.

Not that it mattered much. The mission aligned perfectly with what he had already been planning.

This was not some new directive pulling him in an unfamiliar direction — it was the System simply placing a stamp of approval on an intention he had formed the moment he first laid eyes on Selene Frostborn’s breathtaking face.

’That said...’ His thoughts shifted, gaze drifting briefly toward the distance as he considered the broader board.

’Kai Reventon should already be making his move right about now.’ He could picture it easily — the heir of the Reventon family, no doubt strutting forward with all the arrogance of a man who believed his betrothed was already secured, already his by arrangement and family’s politics.

’How unfortunate for him. I intend to steal his fiancée long before he even realizes what is happening.’ Damon’s smile sharpened into something far more predatory.

With that Damon decide to shut his eyes to rest.

In the next morning. Dawn light filtered through the windows of the mansion.

Damon opened his eyes, the mission notification from the previous night still lingering as a satisfying weight in his mind.

Ariel slept curled against his side, her breathing deep and even. Neko was a warm, purring ball of white fur at the foot of the bed.

He slipped out from under the covers without disturbing them,.

He stretched, feeling the power in his muscles, the dense spiritual energy circulating in his body.

’A million points. And a new bloodline for her. All for doing what I was going to do anyway.’ The thought was his private amusement.

In the shared bathroom, he washed his face with water from a crystal basin, studying his reflection.

’No Incubus Touch. No Incubus Aura. No eyes to see her pleasure points.’ It felt like a purer kind of hunt, and the challenge warmed his blood more than any cultivation technique.

"Good," Damon said, his smile easy.

Ariel padded into the room then, wrapped in a silk robe, her blue hair tousled from sleep. She went straight to Damon, pressing a soft kiss to his lips.

"Morning."

"Do you sleep well?" he asked, his arm sliding around her waist.

"What’s the plan for today?" Ariel asked, sipping her tea.

"Monitoring" Damon said. "I want to see how she progress. And I want to see how far she’s will last."

"Last?" Ariel asked, raising an eyebrow.

"Everyone has a breaking point." Damon said.

"Even an ice queen. The trick is finding the right kind of pressure." He didn’t elaborate, but Ariel already know his ways.

After breakfast, Damon walk toward to the private training arena.

Damon entered the training arena. Selene stood with her back to him, her platinum hair a frozen waterfall down the back of her pristine black robes.

She didn’t turn, but he felt the temperature drop a fraction, the air crystallizing into tiny snowflakes around her.

"You’re late." she said.

"I was enjoying breakfast." Damon answered.

"You should try it sometime. Food, I mean. Not just cultivation." Selene finally turned, her frosty eyes sweeping over him.

"We are here to discuss the sword path, not your breakfast." she stated, crossing her arms.

"They’re related." he said, smiling.

"A strong body fuels a strong spirit. A strong spirit wields a sharper sword." He took a casual stance, the wooden blade resting on his shoulder.

"You wanted to learn. So show me what you understand about Sword Intent. Attack me."

Selene’s eyes narrowed. "You expect me to strike a disciple?"

"I expect you to stop acting like you’re the Elder here." Damon said, his gaze holding hers.

"You are the one who want to learn. If you want it. Just follow my teaching.."

A beat of silence hung in the frozen air. Then, with a sound like a sighing wind, Selene drew her own practice sword from the rack.

She moved without warning. The sword came at him in an arc aimed at his shoulder.

Damon simply move a little, his own wooden blade rising to meet hers in a parry.

Clang!

The sound was clean, solid. The impact vibrated up his arm, but he held firm, their weapons locked together. They were close now, close enough for him to see the faint, startled dilation of her pupils, to smell the cold, clean scent of her like winter mint.

"Your form is good" Damon said, his voice dropping to a murmur meant only for her.

"Your control also good. But you’re holding something back."

"I am not." Selene insisted, but her breath hitched, just barely.

"You are." Damon pushed forward, forcing her to take a half-step back.

"You’re so afraid of wanting something that isn’t a sword, you’ve forgotten how to truly want the sword itself."

He disengaged and stepped back, lowering his weapon. Selene stood frozen, her chest rising and falling a little faster than before.

"Again." Damon commanded, his golden eyes gleaming.

"And this time, don’t think about being an elder. Just think about the sword in your hand, and the man in front of you."

Selene’s knuckles went white around the grip of her sword. The air grew so cold then after a long moment, he thought she might rebuke him.

Instead, she raised her sword, and this time, her gaze burned with something raw and hungry.
